It’s hard to say, but it would seem since Trump was elected more disenfranchised liberals who might never have considered socialism before are swinging further to the left in responce to this “Dooms Day Scenario” they thought could never happen actually happening

Gerrymandering works for areas where districts matter. Statewide election issues can't be gerrymandered. No matter what district you live in, that's 1 Hillary vote for Iowa and 8 Trump votes for Iowa from the rest of your family.
