What does Sup Forums think of Planetes?

what does Sup Forums think of Planetes?

I liked the moon loli.

I want to read the manga. I don't know if I want to watch the anime afterwards.

moot likes it so it must be bad.

If you want to do both, I'd probably start with the anime. It's hardly a 1:1 adaption but the anime benefits from not knowing what comes next a hell of a lot more than the manga does. The manga is more a 'sit down and ponder this' type deal.

Who's moot?

Ai love it.

anime first my man

One of the few examples of the anime being better than the manga.

The anime cuts out a lot of retarded shit.

Pure anime kino
alos
>muslim in space

excellent

One of my favorite moments.

Comfy. The marriage proposal was pretty witty.

watch the anime first, it's way better

Decent anime.

Shitty adaptation of a wonderful manga.

Basically, the worst part of the anime is that it's shoved with so many fucking anime-only characters (who all but a few are completely pointless to the story) that it completely loses the isolation aspect from the manga, which gives The Debris Section a completely different feeling.

When it's adapting the manga 100% faithfully, then the anime is stellar. Unfortunately those moments are all too few.

If I do that, then won't I be disappointed by the manga afterwards?

Nah. It has a slightly different ending.

Plus, you'll blow through the manga way faster and it'd spoil the anime for you.

Trust me famalam.

I loved it and you will too.

>Anime is a direct adaption of the manga
>People complain that it doesn't work as well in motion and is basically just a less good ad for the manga
>Anime brings its own vision and tried to be its own thing
>It's different thus bad and can't be taken on its own merits
There's no winning.

The author didn't like the adaptation,so manga it is.

I enjoyed it

>moot agreed, don't bother him about it

>The manga was published in English in North America by Tokyopop,
Oh fuck this. They can't even bind their fucking books.

Dark Horse is in the middle of a reissue.

How do you actually pronounce Planetes?

It was pretty good and Ai is cute

Pretty sure they've finished it.

It's a great show overall so there is nothing to shitpost about thus the lack of threads.

Ai is too cute and lovable despite her flaws.

DOO YUU KOPI?

Dammit, I want to see Tanabe in the gunbuster outfit!

The anime is better in regards to themes like space exploration, poverty, terrorism. The manga is better in Hoshino's coming of age story. I'd say watch the anime first and read the manga later because Planetes story has only one real twist (it is related to the themes), and the anime does a much better job on building up to it (in the manga it just sort of happens). The manga is good also, so be sure to read it afterwards.

Plan et S

I like it. everything that has a decent aesthetic and no kawaii shit is fine by me.
Am I doing it wrong guys?

Wasn't it planetès? Or plànetes? Planètes?

She had flaws but she is still good and cute.

But Ai is pretty kawaii

Read the manga, haven't seen the anime

tanabe a shit

Wish we got more Yuri stories

Ai is kawaii as fuck.

Do you copi?

pla as in platypus
ne as in onee-san, emphasis here
tes as in testicle

Easily anime of the decade. Biggest flaw is some of the japanese voices being extremely annoying

Ai copi.

Too many men an adults
Not enough cute girls
What's with the realistic art style
Not light hearted enough

It's great.

It was great, and Ai is love.

>The marriage proposal was pretty witty.

does anybody know how this was handled in the dub?
seems like it would be a nightmare to try to do it justice.

Great show, but as others have said the manga is even better. I really wish they had adapted the last chapter, its a much better conclusion then the anime.

Its done exactly the same. They kept the original Japanese words in and then just have Haichi say marry me in English after saying it in Japanese.

I found it extremely boring and had to drop it a few episodes in.
