Can we talk about ToraDora?

Can we talk about ToraDora?
Just finished it and I-I think I loved it...

You know, with subsequent watchings for some reason I started liking Ami more than Taiga

Someone explain this phenomenon

BARNING LOVE

I felt the same on my first watch too.

Ami despite her introduction, becomes the most insightful and tragic of the characters. Taiga is a miracle of the universe but my heart breaks for Ami.
She might even be the "best" character of the show as her despair, helping prods, jealousy and anger felt so god damn real.

>Ryuuji has 3 girls all over him while Yusaku watches from the distance and ends up alone
This show hit way too close to home

Honestly most of the show sucked aside from the last 2-3 episodes.

It might actually be one of the only shows that has a good ending and a shitty rest.

America is quite the distance to watch over, isn't it?

One of the greatest love stories ever told.

>constantly having hotties swarming around him
>smart
>popular among boys and girls
>likeable
>chiseled body
Poor guy

Post Tygas

...

...

You didn't. It was shit.

I genuinely feel sorry for everyone who watched this series and didn't enjoy it as much as I did.
>I laughed
>I cried
>I shitposted about it

ToraDora was the anime that made me realize how alone I actually am.

I have trouble watching anything with romance in it these days.

I'm sorry to hear that user.
Self inserting didn't work like for the rest of us?

You developed a fine taste.

Toradora was very okay in the end. It had a lot of problems, but I liked it when it was good, but my fondest memories of the show come from the shitposting and threads that surrounded it. It was a grand old time and I'm glad to have watched it live.

The ending was terrible. Why did she leave for a whole fucking YEAR?

Dunno.
LN bullshit maybe?
It felt so weird that so much change and develop during the show and that time span was less than a year. Then a year passes and...everyones relationships just freeze and don't develop? Ryuji not getting angsty or the other girls not trying to get him on the rebound feels very...convenient. Maybe I just hate stupid timeskips.
At least we got a new school uniform out of it.

Watch a better contemporary.

Looks like shit.

You mean like Toradora? Not really.

Even if the second half gets a bit weird, it has more heart and believability in the first two episodes than trash like Toradora could even dream of having in its entirety.

Eh it was actually quite good.

has anyone played the game? im 2hrs into and its pretty gud

that because ami is best girl

good patrician taste user

Is it true that the dub and the sub are completely different?

He chases his waifu across oceans into America, that's dedication you can respect.

Op 2 > op 1

This also happened to me.

My patrician taste >> shit > your plebeian taste.

Ami is pretty shit. I can see why Sup Forums loves her though, since she's extremely edgy.

And what is this so called patrician taste?

>Watching NTR shit

OP 1 >> OP 2 obviously.

>me in charge of quoting the right post

>people are literally too autistic to understand Ami
You should actually see a doctor.

Because adaptations. She left for 6 weeks in the LN.

ED 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ED 2

Are you using a guide? Searching items can be a pain in the ass if you want a specific ending.

It's funny because I felt the LN was making fun of the whole "I need to leave to find myself" nonsense by making such a big deal of Taiga leaving and then oh wait, she was only gone for a month and a half taking care of important family shit.

But JC Staff played it completely straight and now that's all anyone remembers.

It was a teen romcom movie that morons such as yourself like to put on a pedestal, even though it's generic and overly dramatic to all hell

That tends to happen when a show hasn't been topped since its release.

Watch any American teen romance film.

Look at that, it's Toradora

It wasn't even the best of it's genre when it was made.

>Watch any American
No
Name a better one.

I don't see how a meme song like op 1 (that begins memorable, but turns mediocre afterwards) is better than silky love (which is good and emotional all
The way trough)

Best girl didn't win.

Your refusal of the truth doesn't stop it from being true.

The "we helped one another try to get some other girl/guy and ended up falling for each other instead" plot is PAINFULLY typical in American fiction, it's just perhaps less stupidly overdramatic, which is impressive really

I want to pet this tiger

Kare Kano.

>Yukino Miyazawa is a Japanese high school first-year student who is the envy of classmates for her good grades and immaculate appearance. However, her "perfect" exterior is a façade, an egocentric charade she maintains to win praise. In the privacy of her own home, she is spoiled, stubborn, a slob
Grandpa's Umaru

She did everything to help the MC, even after being rejected. She was a true bro, and was truly best girl. I honestly wish TD would of taken an Ami route because it would of been so much more interesting than the typical tsundere.

In retrospect, toradora was actually pretty shit

Maybe you should watch a couple episodes instead of just reading the synopsis like a mongolid.

Not him but how about the story between Hiro, Miyako and Kei from A tales of memories? That phone call scene was great. Then again, I was a fucking teenager at that time, so maybe it wasn't that good.

Yeah, typical romcom plot.

Do you judge everything entirely on premise? It's a romance, the premise is completely irrelevant. Quality rests almost entirely on the character interaction.

I agree.

It was low quality.

Also just going to preemptively post this since any response to this is laughably predictable. Whether you enjoyed said character interaction or not, that's the reason a lot of people love the show.

To quote
Won't deny that Ami is "best girl", but in defense of Ryuuji's actions as well as my interpretation, it makes sense.

A lot of people enjoy a lot of things.

Popularity isn't a qualitative measurement.

Hori san to Miyamura kun

Why so shocked? You have great taste in anime and that's that.

Right, mostly because "qualitative measurement" doesn't exist.

I watched the first couple episodes and dropped it, it seemed like Taiga was a complete cunt for absolutely no reason. Which is strange because I thoroughly enjoyed Zero no Tsukaima.

The classic defense of people with shit taste.

Tell me what standards define quality, who set those standards, and why they're qualified to make such a grandiose decision.

Whoever determines that, it's certainly not the crowd of mouthbreathers that eat up crap like Toradora as though it's ambrosia.

That's not an answer. Surely you can answer those things easily if you have such a solidified view on what quality is.

Me. I'm the judge.

>Your opinion doesn't matter if it doesn't agree with me

Retards: The Post.

You're objectively one of those.

No one determines it. All there is is to make arguments about what you think. If your arguments are compelling people will start to agree with you, if they aren't they won't.

That's not true at all.

It's an objective fact.

Because I don't like Toradora, a romcom about a tsundere midget and a guy with a mean face but a kind heart?

And they go through a plot where they play matchmakers.

But, whuh-oh, they fall for eachother!

Meanwhile, this girl the MC was aiming for gets VERY UPSET. Oh man, now we've got a story!

This is good, yeah!

>But, whuh-oh, they fall for eachother!
Sounds like the plot of KeitAi.

The reason is JC Staff. People like it when the girl hits the guy, right? Super funny. Let's take some moments early on in the LN and change them so that Taiga hits Ryuuji instead.
Their meeting in the LN - Ryuuji bumps into her, wonders why they call her palmtop tiger, and then falls back because of her gaze (which is exaggerated to the point of causing an explosion)
Their meeting in the anime - Ryuuji bumps into her, wonders why they call her palmtop tiger, and then she fucking decks him

I didn't think to look up a guide when i first played. Ended up with the Christmas cake because I was nice to her.

Good taste. Best love story ever told. Or at least best kiss.

>She did everything to help the MC,
SHE DID EVERYTHING FOR HER YOU AUTISTIC FAGGOTS
Everything she did was a lie. Everything was persona. That's why she lost. He never stopped seeing through her. She didn't stop being fake until after she lost. She only ever changed her attack vector based on what she thought he'd like.
You people are so emotionally bankrupt its actually hard to imagine someone so blunted they don't understand what this simple romcom was actually about.
Jesus Christ its like being in a room full of psychopaths.

>Jesus Christ its like being in a room full of psychopaths.
Wow rude

I loved it the first time I watched it and it became my favorite anime. But when I re-watched it several years later I realised it was not as good as I first though.

The first two and last two episodes were great but the rest was just meh. It went from a 10/10 to a 7/10 for me.

>Kare Kano.
Yeah no. I'm a big fan of KareKano and even have nostalgia googles clouding my vision but no way that's a better romance story than ToraDora. Yukino is alright but the guy is EdgeLord Incarnate and the romance development falls flat many times along the road.

Calm down brah I'm with you.

>but the guy is EdgeLord Incarnate
That only happens in the later episodes of the show, which are significantly weaker than the rest. He's fine before that.

>the romance development falls flat many times along the road.
Like when? It certainly moves a faster pace than Toradora.

Like him raping Yukino and leaving her preggers, for once.
Or when he pukes after they first had sex.
Or when he became all stalker-creepy when he saw her getting friendly with another dude
Or when he kept going "Dark Shadow Mode" and brooding about shit whenever she wasn't around.
Sorry but as much as I enjoyed Karekano the Yukino x Arima parts were the lowest points.

Hell their romance is probably the worse of the whole series, the BullyxFat Guy or AzusaxStepbrother relationships are a lot more endearing.

All of that is manga material or from later in the TV show.

Not really. Once they start dating the guy immediately goes brood mode early and often.

Brooding doesn't automatically make you into an edgelord. He had plenty of reasons to brood.

So what are you trying to prove here? The romance goes to shit territory from mid-late, and only because at the beginning the Kare and Kano of the story simply aren't dating. Sorry but it sucks, thankfully the story has plenty of better stronger points to rely on.

...

No, I would argue that it really only goes to shit after the whole show goes to shit after episode 16. The build up to and beginning of their relationship is great.

So Toradora wins as a love story. Glad we cleared that up.

No, because Toradora sucks in general and doesn't even get to the dating part of the relationship.

Kek

Nice argument.
