stopped watching one piece years ago

i couldn't stand the dragged out episodes and the endless recaps. the first 5-7 minutes of every episode is wasted on intro + explaining what one piece is about as a whole (!) + recapping what basically happened the last episode.

then it took forever for something to happen each episode. it drove me nuts.

The point of Hody's character was that a history of conflict affects on individuals to the point it dehumanizes their struggle and transforms them into what their eldest had fought to overcome.
Hody was the darkest result of the human-fishmen conflict, the implosion of the struggle.

Reread Amazon Lily and Battle of Marineford in One Piece. I kind of forgot how god damn fast everything happens in those two arcs. It's climaxes every chapter. I can understand why people call the more recent ones drawn out, though I still enjoyed most of them. Oda needs to scale back the battles, they're getting a little too large and impersonal, losing their impact.

Fishman Island is about the worst arc in OP, yeah. All of shounen, I dunno.

Why did so many one piece fans have a problem with this arc? Hody is one of the most well written antagonists in the series and there are plenty of boring ass arcs that are far worse.

Hody essentially being poisoned by hate to become a fish grand wizard doesn't really make up for the shitty, confusing paneling, visually unreadable art and the post-timeskip OP tradition of arcs going on too fucking long.

Uh, Fishman Island was the first arc post-timeskip. If anything it started the tradition.

It's too bad the Dials aren't ever going to make a return. Still, the lead up about believing in dreams was great, and it also gave us another viewing of Haki (Mantra) and Enel. It also introduced sky islands in general.
