How do you feel about feminism in manga?
How do you feel about feminism in manga?
It's OK, especially if it means less hetshit.
if it leads to more cute female characters I don't mind
I don't think about it, but I just hope any feminist elements in manga never gets as hamfisted as the shit seen in western comics.
it makes the rape and mind break doujins so much better
I like female characters better than disgusting shitty male ones so I like it.
Pretty much this.
As long as it's not obnoxious and pedantic it's fine by me.
Also this.
Other than Arte, you only really find feminism in shoujo and josei.
That manga in particular wasn't too bad in terms of shilling feminism, it was pretty funny to see renaissance italians getting flustered over headpats and stuff like that though.
It depends.
If you mean Mari Okada feminism then it's shit.
If the female characters aren't just there to serve as a romantic interest for the male MC, or they go out and actually do shit other than fight other unimportant female characters, then yeah, I'm cool with it.
Love it. I'm so tired of reading thing that target young boys who know nothing of females. Feminist themes in manga elevate the medium into something that more mature readers can appreciate.
Also, kick ass females in manga make me moist. Their sexual autonomy is profoundly more erotic than the trope of brainless wanton bimbos.
Anything is fine so long as it serves as a vessel for cute girels doing cute things.
>Japan
>feminism
wat. Any examples of pic related?
There have historically been far more women working in manga than there have been women working in comics in the west. A lot of it has been shoujo stuff, so made by and for women/girls, but that's okay. And more recent efforts to bridge the gap between shoujo and shonen (like clamp doing code geass) have turned out to be really good.
>I'm so tired of reading thing that target young boys
Stop reading shounen then?
Do you purposely read stuff you dont like?
>Feminist themes in manga elevate the medium into something that more mature readers can appreciate.
Will it give me more girls with short hair and spats?
Don't respond to obvious bait.
And while you're at it, don't shitpost with images like that.
Comics are a garbage industry, too. They poisoned their own well and trapped themselves in a cycle of mastubratory self-appeal from which there is no escape, and little in the way of real profit.
Anymore, comics basically just serve as concept tests for characters, franchises and plotlines that the larger parent company hopes to transform into blockbusdter mass-appeal
It's easy:
Tachibana from Seishun x Kikanjew is a perfect example of a female character that is neither stupid, nor weak nor typically female but still very interesting.
But if it's some hambeast or the Madoka mum kind of feminism, it's bad.
Madoka mum was a 10/10 milf, though. I'd be a stay at home Dadoka for a woman like that any day.
Reminds me of LNs.
We all know how that turned out though. Madoka turned into some kind of benevolent god after getting tricked by some level III alien civ cat-thing and now her lesbian friend who's also a demon is now playing sims with her.
LNs are actually fairly profitable. They chase fads constantly, but that constant self-renewal and willingness to pander to ANYONE instead of just the same super-focused niche group helps keep the industry alive and turning.
It's probably not the picture of a perfectly thriving media industry, but there's really no comparison to western comics. It's hard to even fathom how dire the straights of that industry are.
i miss old fads on LN
Aren't shoujo and josei manga great? They show women as they are slaves to cock that swing from one alpha to other and never to the "nice" guy. I love the japanese audacity for truth.
I still remember the feeling I got when Nana was going nice-guy route with Nobu only for it to get blasted by Takumi impregnating Hachi. Mangaka also had the courage to not draw areformed fuckboi Alpha-turned-Beta "happy ending", everyone who makes a mistake is miserable. Realism at its best.
that beta also ends with an Porn star
It'll teach girls to be more assertive and then they will force herbivore otaku to procreate. This is the best thing for Japanese society.
Oh right that was also great.
>"I'm gonna leave this adult-video business for you!"
>renews her contract
>starts in #1 AV series about a wife that cucks her husband
>my sides
>Also, kick ass females in manga make me moist
So basically your argument is "they shouldn't pander to people who aren't me"
Nonexistent for the most part.
This is what happens when you tolerate fujoshits posting on Sup Forums.
If anything there should be more feminism in manga. Women are nothing but sex objects in Japan at current state. A bit more of feminism will help poor Japanese women. They just don't need to be batshit insane feminists like the western ones.
>Women are nothing but sex objects in Japan at current state
No, they are not
i'm all right with it as long as their entire cause isn't about putting the other gender down.
>How do you feel about feminism in manga?
I like Arte. A nice, female character compare to the tumbler garbage the West keeps pushing.
The west and east view what empower women differently. Doesn't that contribute to the whole difference in how feminism is portrayed in manga/anime compared to comics?
Or has 1980s onward globalization changed it to be pretty much irrelevant?
Incidentally, I am not a pedophile, I am a feminist.
>Nana
>Ended
What?
You bumped the thread for this trash post.
Yes thanks for pointing that out. I would not have noticed otherwise.
The same way I feel about feminism in any medium. If it's making an actual, comprehensive statement about society and gender, it's a great utilisation of art to convey a message. It's solely there to pander to the liberal teen girl demographic and make big bucks, then it's just corporate scumbaggery like any other cheap, manipulative marketing gimmick.
Eternal hiatus might as well be ending.
