Wolf's Rain has one of the best anime soundtracks of all time
Take that how you will

Yep.

she is awesome.
love her GITS soundtrack

No, she's the Yoko Kanno of music.

She is not that good really.

@145462759
0/10 b8
try again

Horner wishes he'd been that talented. Kanno is a fucking treasure.

She's composed some good stuff.

Recent years however.

what is your fav soundtrack from Yoko?
mine is cyberbird

Hans Zimmer maybe

Hard to pick one, but if I absolutely had to, either Strangers, Trip City or Yakitori

That's a hard call, I have so many favorites. ZnT, Brain Powerd, Turn-A Gundam, Macross Plus, Wolf's Rain, Please Save My Earth, and Darker Than Black were all superb works.

ZNT ost was gorgeous.

Memories: Magnetic Rose still gives me chills

It's very hard to find outside of the film and was never sold digitally, but it's a tremendous score

The madam butterfly theme was awesome

downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/memories-original-soundtrack

the Zankyou no Terror soundtrack was fucking great, it's just a shame the writers shit the bed with that show.

does she have any album or music works besides animes which may have escaped my eyes?
need more of her work and voice.

RIP

You are a hero

>animes
Kill yourself.

She's cool but I wish she didn't break up The Beatles

youtube.com/watch?v=vJsqVOQKjEM
>those ambient sounds
>that heavenly voice
>that piano

This series looks soul crushing, is it worth

Not really, no.
But it does have incredibly good visuals, some episodes are really good like 4 and the ferris wheel one and the OST is god's gift to humanity, so it's up to you.

She doesn't put horns in everything or lazily reverse a main track to create a secondary track.

>or lazily reverse a main track to create a secondary track
what?

> 2016
> Not calling it Japanimation instead.

I'm with you brother.

Holy fuck this song
Downloading now

He reversed the MoS theme for Lex Luthor in BvS

I don't quite hear it

Same OST. Believe me, it's worth hunting down the whole thing. The anime may have been the biggest disappointment of its year, but it's almost egregious to find fault in the OST.

Hiroyuki Sawano surpassed her because
1. He keeps getting hired
2. He doesn't stop making soundtracks, season after season

God Yoko Kanno is fucking mesmerizing
Even if the show is bad, I'll still trek through it.
Here are some of my favorite songs

this one in particular blows me away

Only insecure fuccbois like Sawano.

user I like the guy, but comparing him to Yoko Kanno is heresy.
He hardly does anything new.

>James Horner
Who?

underappreciated Kanno track coming through.

youtube.com/watch?v=BkiEuIgkCCs

It's kinda disappointing some of her best work is plagiarism

The who?

>this stale bait

Hurr

More like all her work is plagiarism, as expected of a shitty composer overrated by normies that dont know better.

Samefagging doesn't make you any more right the second time, Sup Forums.

you don't have to be Sup Forums to think that's bad, son

Copy-cat Kanno will forever be tainted for stealing other peoples music for Escaflowne.

Still waiting on proof instead of mongs rehashing ancient pasta.

then give us 10 examples of plagiarism, instead of samefagging.

Yuki Kajiura is better

Gravity is plagiarism of this youtube.com/watch?v=a1c7mISrh2Q

Overrated Sony Music trash just like Sawano

The OST was the best thing about this anime desu.

Actually, I liked pretty much everything besides the actual story.

desu there are a lot of similar to nearly identical passages in Kanno's music to other - older - artists, but music is like that, isn't it? There's hardly anything new.
I mean, every single jpop song and so every anime OP has the same chord progression, it's really hard to find one that doesn't have it. (It's called Royal Road, or IV△7→V7→IIIm7→VIm for the musicianfags here)

>post almost entire ZnT ost
>no hanna
youtube.com/watch?v=2khYTSceCqg

>Hiroyuki Sawano
"let's do the same thing countless times" the ost.

Yeh it' definitely a coincidence amirite :^)

What are you talking about? Most of Escaflowne's music was composed by her husband at the time, Hajime Mizoguchi.

Cowboy Bebop wouldn't be as popular if it weren't for her

youtube.com/watch?v=ofQTRgWcimY

A lot of her music is great: CB, GitS, ZnT to name a few. Personally I really like her but it's true what the other user is saying. Go to the website and watch the videos and be honest with yourself: there is no denying that a lot of her famous tracks are "heavily inspired".

Sawano is terrible. You can tell it's his work right away from the first couple of notes. It's not his "style" either, he simply never tries anything new.

Yoko Kanno has suffered from that issue at times but Sawano outright embraces it. Sawano is all about reusing a single track over and over again. And that single track sounds atrocious, at least the track was good when Kanno slipped into sameness.

>Yoko Kanno
She has made some good soundtracks.

My favorite composer is still Yuki Kajiura

Kanno did this?

I prefer Gabriela Robin.

Who's the guy who did Star Wars? She's that guy as a cute Japanese girl.

Didn't she do all of it? I though she composed everything in Bebop and it was mostly done by that one jazz band with a few other performers.

youtube.com/watch?v=QEqEh9GGyx4

Not animu related, but she did pretty good ost in videogames like this one.

Too bad her stuff in the first version of Ragnarok II never saw the light of the day.

>never saw the light of the day

what happened?

First version called Ragnarok II: Gate of the World got cancelled. There were pretty good ost there.

Second version called RO2: Legend of the Cecond changed most of the game including the old music.

At least she ripped off the same composers James Horner did for her orchestral soundtracks.

Nope. He did maybe 1/4 of the tracks and almost all of it is slow string pieces, like everything else he's done.

Its funny how while I was listening to the Turn A Gundam OST I thought I had put on Verdi's Messa da Requiem, because one of the tracks sounded very close to it.

Kanno's music is good, no doubt, but she doesn't have her own style, it's always someone elses.
