I liked this one premise from an earlier thread, so I tweaked it a bit.
Right now, August 10, 2016, the world receives an announcement: the next time they wake up will be the moment they originally woke up on January 1, 2000.
Those who weren't born yet must wail until they are born again, if ever. Those who have died between then and now will only retain their memories up to their original death. Mistakes can be avoided. Sins can be undone. But who ultimately benefits from the world's rollback?

Barack Obama falls in love with Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self.
Another curious thing happened. In the alternate universe, she's the First Lady of President Obama. Obama's AU counterpart became senator then the 44th President of the United States of America, in a world where the World Trade Center was destroyed by planes crashing unto them, George W. Bush became president, and Al-Qaeda exists.
Hijinks ensue as the first lady gives her darkest, most private secrets to a non-presidential Obama not only to help him conquer the heart of her other self, but to turn him into the first black president of his own world. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of FREEDOM.
>A boy whose mind has been poisoned by harem manga enrolls in a school with an improbable male-to-female ratio such that harem-type relationship circles become expected. >Determined to get a harem of his own, checklist in hand, each episode follows his misadventures as he tries to get his own group of groupies. >He goes off in pursuit of an angry, flat-chested redhead. Unfortunately, when he bumps into her and gropes her, not only is she *not* angry, but she was slightly aroused by his boldness, and immediately skips to dere. Cursing, he beats feet and tries to find another. >When he tries to convince a short, white-haired girl to be his token stoic loli, she rolls up her sleeves, puts on a commissar cap, whips out a wooden sword, knocks him on his ass, before kicking him in the gut and stomping off. >He tries to build his harem, but everyone is of the wrong archetype. >Other characters he tries to recruit include: >sheltered large-breasted drill hair blonde ojou who as a result spills spaghetti constantly >girl that everyone assumes is just being chuu2, but actually has a demon in her eye etc
>Probably the favorite character, a yandere fujoshi who is intent on preserving the (assumed) homoerotic relationships of A-kun, one of the MC's male friends. As of a month in, the MC doesn't have a proper harem, so the yandere assumes he was gay and so keeps trying to forcibly ship the MC with A-kun.

>Virtual Sky Lanterns
It was once tradition for people to create sky lanterns, sending their prayers along up towards the heavens and hoping their messages would be answered. An app available for augmented reality devices renovates this ancient tradition: personal handwritten requests are now contained in virtual sky lanterns, publicly released into the night sky.
People carrying AR devices, such as contact lenses, smartphones or glasses, can see these messages under the viewing options. The plot follows two individuals encountering each other in a city, competing to answer these sky lanterns.
One of the individuals is a young woman volunteering for the recognition. She desires to improve her karma profile, a popular online trend designed to record altruistic actions. The second character is a heartbroken young man answering the sky lanterns to cope with separation.
Discovering these motives fosters concern. The young woman sees the young man answering the sky lanterns as an excuse to neglect the losses he suffered. The young man sees the young woman as a lonely person using the sky lanterns in hopes of find meaning in her vacant life.
As the two characters work together for certain requests, they begin to understand each other, eventually leading them to answer one another’s sky lantern request: helping the young man accept separation and finding a purpose in life for the young woman.
It's a normal harem, except replace the girls with dogs that want their master's attention..
The girls each get an episode, and at the end it is revealed that MC has a normal human girlfriend.

After some investigation, he finds out that the girl from this other world is not the same girl he fucking hates. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who hates the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her spite. >Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to fucking murder their other selves. While the two chase their respective hated ones, COMEDY ensues as they begin to despise with each other instead and certify the NATURE OF HATE.

>4th Wall Awareness
Okay, so, anime opens on MC. Everything is normal. You watch her go on with her everyday life. But as the series continues, she starts to become aware of you. The more aware she is, the more frightened she becomes. She thinks you're a stalker. She tells her friends all about you but they eventually think she's crazy, and shuns her. Later everyone starts to shun her. In the end, you are all she has. And then it becomes an unrequited love story between audience, and MC. In the final few episodes, both you and her feel the end of the show approaching. In the end, she says, "Even though our story may end here, I hope one day you will remember me. You will decided to watch this show again. You will remember me, but I won't remember you. Sad, I know. But it just gives me a reason to fall in love with you all over again." The end.

>Europe is divided into 3 main powers:

>The Imperial German Empire has been treading water with the League of European Republics for a long time after winning the First Grand War, and the USRS been dealing with the fall out of another Empire that took part in the First Grand War, but fell a part and became shit. >The Mc is part of the infantry in the Imperial German Empire Army piloting an Armored Assault Weapon (AAW) which is basically a large ass mechs. >The Imperial German Empire has been getting a militaristic boner lately and does a false flag operation that kills ones of its royal families daughters who was visiting one of the Republics of LORE for friendly negotiations. >This kick starts the Second Grand War and the Mc is called into service with his buddies.
The whole story focuses on the Mc following orders, sitting around at base wondering when the war is going to end and what the fuck is he going to do when he gets rotated out. Horrors of War is shown, talk about battle plans/field tactics is show in the episodes, and etc.

>In the deep future people are capable of connecting to the internet using jacks on the nip of their necks, and log on to virtual avatars to do anything they please on the web. >Mc is a college student who uses the internet in their free time to enjoy things, and has a freelance job as a moderator on an image board. Normally he pops in and out threads on the imageboard to see what's up and when things on his board are reported he looks at it and deletes it for shitposting and warn the shitposters or ban them. >As summer rolls around and he logs in to delete some shitpost something strange occurs in the system, and the shitposts from the past week reappear on the board along with new shitposts by the shitposters. >The freelancer moderator and his buddies clean up the shitpost by fighting them and deleting them, and banning all the shitposters they can. >The next day the same thing has happened except its more shitpost and shitposters. I'd love to see a series about Japanese Surrendered Personnel. It's an interesting story that never seemed to make it out of history publications and people's memoirs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Surrendered_Personnel >Britain rolls back into its lost Asian colonies after Japan surrenders >Japanese soldiers stationed in said colonies surrender to the British >instead of sending them all home, the British keep some of them in the colonies for years >British apply the soldiers in some areas as forced laborers >the soldiers are even used as armed guards or armed forces against local insurgencies, fighting alongside the colonial forces

-The Mc is a Knight Captain 37 years of age in a normal human knight army fighting in a Crusade against demons with his knight bros. He manages to land a fatal hit on a Demon Commander, but he gets fatally wounded as well. -When slowly dying he makes a wish to see how the world he fought to protect turned out, and a mysterious goddess answers his dying wish. Mc wakes up in the city street of a fantasy world uninjured where Demons, Humans, and other fantasy races have integrated great. -It turns out the knight was taken far into the future of his world where the demon invasion actually caused fantasy races to appear, humans are now capable of using magic and he's just a normal human from thousands of years ago in armor.
The main story focuses on the Mc as they try to integrate into this new future of humans being able to use magic, new technology, fantasy races, and assist a powerful noble girl and her mysterious demon friend after they discover he is an old soldier of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, and he's been brought into the future by a Goddess he has never heard of.
The story has a lot of world building. Mc isn't a fucking pussy and is competent. He also learns how broke as fuck magic can actually be as the Demons he fought thousands years of ago were using a primal, unmastered form of it.

Shit I'd watch it. Have some episodes have drastically worse animation quality and maybe juggle voice actors to drive the point home that it's low budget. You could probably do some really interesting things with the meta.

>Its not hard having Mc's who will do something to get the job done, or stand up for themselves and be competent. This actually is hard to do and still have a good story where the competence flows naturally from it. As a result, attempts almost invariably become Kirito, competent because the plot says he is rather than any actual displayed competence.

Fantasy setting. With her beloved dying in her arms, MC makes a pact between them-- to exact absolute vengeance on everyone involved in her wife's murder. As a result, her wife's spirit is bound to MC, and ensuring that MC can regenerate from any injury, however fatal. However, her one-woman revenge quest turns out to be a lot more than either of them had realized. It turns out that the murder was actually an assassination ordered by the head of state, and that the pact would not be fulfilled until their entire empire is toppled. Even though she cannot be killed, it can take as long as several days for her to recover from the wounds she sustains. As such, she cannot juggernaut her way through the heavy defenses that surround the royal families and other governmental organizations.
As time passes, both MC and spirit realize the hollow nature of their revenge quest, and how melancholic and meaningless MC's life has become without her beloved. They come to realize that being together in death would have been a preferable outcome to carrying on the burden of revenge. Unfortunately, they have no choice but to see their pact through, since MC cannot die. MC becomes a mercenary in order to generate some influence among various groups. The endgame is to incite war with the neighboring nations in order to tear down their empire.
Along the way, they find a sorcerer who can potentially break the pact, allowing MC to die in peace. They realize it involves destroying the spirit entirely, which would cause MC's wife to cease to exist entirely. Spirit argues for MC to go through with it, saying she was the one who forced MC into the pact anyways, and how much MC has suffered as a result of being unable to die. Spirit is riddled with guilt and blames herself for MC being stripped of her humanity as a result of the revenge quest, and that it would be a fitting punishment for her to be destroyed so that MC may find peace. (cont)
Adam Sullivan
MC refuses, saying that she's endured all of this because she desires to reunite in death, and that destroying the spirit would nullify everything she's worked for. She goes on to say that even though she realizes that their pact was a mistake, it was a mistake they made together, and something that they would resolve together. She says that her sole remnant of humanity lies in her love, and that she will go through any burden to ensure that they will be together once again.
With that resolution, she continues, eventually succeeding in provoking war between the nations. Throughout the war, she lends her blade to the various factions in order to put her own empire at a disadvantage and get closer to the main government. The war is protracted and bloody, despite her best efforts to turn the tide in her favor, she has only so much influence in such a large-scale conflict. MC and spirit both are obviously traumatized psychologically, but MC is determined to see it through to the end.
By the time she finishes off the last of the imperial officers, despite the fact that she has not aged physically, it has been several decades since her quest started, and most of the people directly responsible for the assassination are already dead, so she ends up killing their heirs in order to destroy the head of the empire. In the power vacuum that resulted, the other nations continue to fight.
MC has destroyed the government that ordered the death of her beloved, thereby fulfilling her pact, so she wonders why she hasn't been released from life yet. She then realizes that there is one more person she needs to take revenge on-- it was her own two hands that slew her wife. MC was mind-controlled at the time, but since she was the one who held the blade that spilt her wife's blood, the pact considered her guilty. Unaware of this at the time, her wife had meddled with MC's memory so that MC would not feel guilty.
Anthony Long
Spirit apologizes for the whole ordeal, but MC is not bothered. With tears in her eyes for the first time in decades, MC slashes herself across the neck, fulfilling the pact and releasing them both. Their souls depart the world together, and they will reincarnate in another world, a gentler one where their love can flourish without tragedy.
