This is not going to end well.

The Kurds aren't going to roll over for Iraq.

Us Kurds will never give in we will demolish any threat in a matter of time, you wouldnt know about that though you have the white flag to a bunch of fucking birds.

...

Is Kirkuk an Iraqi-Arab city or are they attacking the kurdish territory in the north or Iraq?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirkuk#Demographics

It's an important city for the Kurds' identity; the Kurdish military (Peshmerga) was occupying it. According to Iraq's laws/constitution though, it's not a part of the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Damn you snowkurds

can I get a quick rundown on kurds

LIVESTREAM WHERE!!!!!!!

Kurds will roll the Iraqis if they decide to make them fight in Kirkuk.

The biggest issue with ISF is morale, and fighting in a Kurdish dominated city (over 60% Kurdish) means that they'll have to rely heavily on PMUs and the limited amount of professional shock troops they still have (ICTF primarily and RR).

The Kurds could drag this out and make it extremely ugly for a depleted and overstretched Iraqi military. With no US support and intel they'll be forced to conduct the operations on their own, which has yielded some tragic results (al-Anbar 2014/2015, Fallujuh, and the Euphrates theater). Whether or not the ISF have the ability to mobilize and effectively deploy the manpower needed to take a city like Kirkuk has yet to be seen, but I doubt it'll be a "genocide" like people are clamoring it to be. The Kurds in Iraq have proven themselves much more capable than ISF when it comes to war as of late, and I'm interested in how they'll do against ISF with the lessons they've learned from their campaigns in the north against ISIS.

The kurds are going to fuck them up

>"based"
They embrace many if not all of the most degenerate western social/cultural values, they're socialists too.

Are these guys not wearing plates in their vests?

Autism. Kurds are basically retarded jews.

>great fighters
>don't rape or steal

The kurds have retreated and Iraqis taking over a military base, some oilfields etc.

Why?

The Kurds are the most capable and motivated fighters in Iraq. There are too many systemic issues within the ISF that prevents them from being an effective fighting force, instead relying on militias such as the PMUs to do the bulk of the fighting.

While the ISF has a huge dominance in terms of hardware, they are unable to adequately produce combined arms warfare in theater, which means their force multipliers are irrelevant.

Only limited elements within the ISF have it semi-together, and these units have been heavily bled during near four years of constant war and the near collapse of the Iraqi military. ICTF/RR are not suited for full on offensive assaults, they were trained to snatch and dissemble terrorist cells in platoon sized elements, not engaging battalion sized elements like they'd be doing against the Kurds.

Square peg in a circle hole.

Are Kurds yazidis? Yazidis are awesome.

The Iraqi army of 2017 is very different from that of 2014.

It has seen much more major battles than the Peshmerga and it has vast experience in urban combat while Peshmerga specializes in trench warfare.

Iraqi forces are supported by Iran-backed militias which are ready to fight to death if their puppet masters so please.

While I support independent Kurdish state I don't see a way for Peshmerga to beat Iraqi forces around Kirkuk. They lack heavy weapons and artillery, I'd say they are worse equipped than ISIS was in Mosul.

...

PMUs=/=ISF

PMUs are largely untrained militias with a lot of toys, the Kurds could easily stop them and give them trouble despite the lack of heavy equipment.

They have more than enough ATGMs for example to turn any kind of mechanized movement into a destroyed element. They are also fighting on their own turf, despite what people may think Kirkuk is infact majority Kurdish. The Arab dominated governments have spent decades upon decades attempting what they coined as "Arabization" of the region and still failed to completely rid the Kurds if Kirkuk. ISF has shown in the past that they are unwilling to fight in lands that aren't their own due to tribal allegiances. A Sunni soldier from al-Anbar will have zero motivation to fight kurds in Kirkuk, likewise a Shiite from the marshes in the south will view his deployment to Kurdish lands as a waste of time as ISIS still has its roots deep in Iraq proper.

Goddamn, there are a lot of Kurdaboos on Sup Forums

From what I have seen the Peshmerga is short on ATGMs when compared to ISIS for example. I have only seen a bunch of old MILAN missiles. I suspect the Western countries have deliberately avoided giving the Kurds anything that could be used effectively against Iraqi forces.

I bet the Iraqi forced are going to siege Kirkuk and Peshmerga is going to negotiate a withdrawal.

Both the French and the Germans gave the Kurds a LOT of gear since the ISIS offensives in 2014, not to mention the sheer amount of equipment they've seized from ISIS and former ISF bases/caches.

All it takes is one or two good shots and a BMP with its turret thrown and you will rout any Arab element assaulting your position.

When I was deployed, the Kurds were always the most receptive to our training, and they were able to execute the information we gave them. Their motivation is the biggest tool they have which in war makes up for a lack of equipment (see literally any guerrilla movement on the planet).

I truly hope they do get their own state soon, they deserve it. The Arabs in the region are fucking abhorrent and Iraq itself is a failed state. Shit needs to be redone over there.

OC from Afghanistan.

Apparently 10 Kurdish soldiers have been killed in clashes south of kirkuk according to the kurds.

Iraqi army says the kurds retreated without conflict
