Dungeon Meshi

Chapter 27 spoilers are out Imouto is back

Oh good.

Based elf mage did it again.

>touching her throat
>left eye squinting
>Exactly where the dragon was injured
WELP

...

I can try translating the chapter from Korean, if you guys would like me to. I'm reading for myself first though.

I like how the art style changed to look more serious.

Who else here thinks that she sacrificed something to resurrect Farlyn? It was her blood that she used to draw that magic circle and there seems to be some kind of argument before that.

OK, done reading. Gonna start translating in this thread unless the english scanlation gets released while I'm midway through, in which case someone else can dump those pages.

>It can't be...
>Farin...
>Can...
>Can she be resurrected from that sort of state...?
>It's not like there's no precedence but...
>H, hey Laius...
>We don't know for sure yet.
>Let's take her to the resurrection center.

doing God's work user.

Nice

sweet

>You planning on carrying all that with you?
>There's worg bones in there too, you know.
>We can't tell the difference, so it can't be helped.
>I'll help.
>Wait!
>The connection between the spirit and body has gotten weak
>Moving it is dangerous...
>The more damaged the body is, the easier it is for the spirit to get separated
>Most failures at resurrection are because the spirit got separated or
>The restoration of the body was incomplete.

Did Lauis also wipe her between the legs

>Then what can we do?
>...We have to bring a resurrectionist here.
>During restoration, we need many times the calories of what parts of the body has been damaged so
>we also need to bring a large amount of fresh blood and flesh.
>It'd probably rot by the time we hauled all that over here...
>... no.
>huh?
>That's right.
>Right now, we have a mountain of fresh flesh and blood right here.

Work faster gook.

this shit is great

>W... Wait a moment!
>You're planning on resurrecting her yourself!? With dragon meat!?
>Your specialty isn't even resurrection
>I didn't say this before because I thought you'd be afraid, but
>My "specialty" is the study of ancient magic that has been deemed taboo in this era.
>Right now, I don't see any other option but that method.
>Even if it isn't the normally approved method
>...what
>Black magicks!
>You best not to mess with dark things like that!
>There's no good and evil in magic.
>What do you want to do, Laius...

Welp. Our elf is a witch.

>I'll leave it to you, Marcille
>Save Farlin. Please...!
>Leave it to me
>I'll try...
>You're out of your minds
>To think you'd use dragon meat to..
>Normally they'd use goat or pig meat
>You should have brought that up to begin with
>Marcille

>Black Magic
Aw shit

>For now, I'd like to arrange the bones so that it's how it should be, as much as possible.
>I'll match Farlin's bones
>Of course that's how it is...
>I know a bit about dog skeletons
>I'll try matching the worg bones
>huh?
>You don't need to do something like that, do you!
>We wouldn't know if we missed something or matched it wrong otherwise!!

>There's around 200 bones in a human body
>Then there's around 840 here.
>huh?
>We should start with bones that are easy to spot
>first
>The pelvis, femur, and humerus.
>There are two of each of the knees, elbows, wrist, and ankles.
>There are 12 pairs of ribs making a total of 24.
>+clavicle
>If it's similar to a dog's then there're 13 pairs in a worg.
>No clavicle
>These round parts are a human's ribs then.
>Definitely quite different.
>And then the spine connecting the ribs
>They look completely different, so differentiating them should be easy.
>The problem is...

>The smaller bones in the hands and feet...
>There's quite a few.
>I can't tell them apart at all.
>It's fine if we spread them out by what's most noticeable
>This long bone...
>It's not human
>Since dogs hind legs are on their tip toes..
>Then I guess this is a worg's metatarsus bone.
>Since we've cleared out the dog's feet bones
>Now let's try and find the human foot bones.
>This larger bone is a human astragalus
>Judging by how these smaller bones piece together
>the instep is complete.
>Ohh, they fit right together
>Right?

Just like my high school biology class.

Keep it up, Korean bro.

Anyways, Marcille is confirmed taboo blood necromancer. A burning at the state is the future to her.

>Next what's left are the hand bones but
>I guess we should sort them out starting with the fingers
>I get it! Like this right?
>Close, but nope. The finger with the longest metacarpal bone isn't the middle finger but the index finger.
>Metacarpal
>[correct]
>proximal phalanx
>The proximal phalanx is longer in the middle finger, though.
>And now, all that's left are the carpal bones that connect the hands to the arms.
>Hint...
>Quit playing around
>[in no particular order]capitate, hamate, trapezoid, trapezium, pisiform, triquetral, lunate, scaphoid
>It's done!
>I wonder if this is good enough
>We used up all the bones we had
>Okay...
>now that I look at it, that's true

>Farlin and Worg skeletons
>It's complete!
>Farlin's bones - 1 serving
>Worg bones - 2 servings
I'm sorry, what
>...
>what to say..
>She's got some nice bones
>She got nicely turned into bones
>She had some nice calcium intake
>Uh... The worgs won't get resurrected too, right?
>In the dungeon, only human spirits get bound.
>If that weren't the case, this place would be exploding with spirits.

>Then...
>I'll get started

...

>Marcille!

>She's fainted
>What happened
>did she succeed?
>I don't know...

>Cough cough cough
>Farlin!
>!?
>.....!!
>??
>The blood from the ritual's still in her
>Calm down and spit it out
>It's okay now!
>Uwah....
>Farlin

>Bro... ther...

>It's okay now...
>I'm cold...
>Oh! R-Right, sorry!
>My armor!
>Do we have any clothes!
>Farlin
>Are you okay?
>Do you hurt anywhere?
>...
>Then that's good.

>Marcille...
>Marcille!
>Uuu...
>Ack!
>What about Farlin...!?
>She's alive, though she's a bit confused.
>Farlin!
>I'm so...
>I'm so glaaaaaddd
>Mar...cile...
>UWwaaaaaaaaaahh

Well at least she recognizes him.

;___;

Man, I was totally prepped for Farlyn to be kill. I'm so glad everything is gonna be daijobu, right?

Thanks Koreanbro.

>Chi...ll
>How is she
>She seems a bit confused
>Right, let me introduce you
>This guy's senshi. He helped us with this and that on our way here.
>Hello, Farlin
>I'm glad to meet you.
>Sen...
>gghhgurrrghrgghrrl
>Ah...
>Let's get some food ready!
>[Next chapter October 15th]
Shit.

Well that's all. Till October. Bah.

This might actually explain why she seems useless as a spell caster. She's not using her strong suit, just stuff that won't give her away.

I love how grim she looks in these earlier pages. Such nice gap moe from her usual ditzy self.

It's good she can talk. I wonder what the side effects are going to be?

>>In the dungeon, only human spirits get bound.
That's... IMPORTANT!

So unless the dragon held a human spirit, the Imouto should be fine in terms of her mental health. The issue is that they are using unorthodox resurrection techniques and as such could have weird effects from that.

>No Dragomouto

I am sad.

I'd say that the difference in the meat used might also make the difference. Goat and pig are closer to human than a dragon, so it can have some unforeseen consequences like imouto breathing fire or using strange magic.

Burn the elf before it is too late.

Thanks for the translation! I'm glad Farlin is back just fine, I don't want my silly cooking manga getting grim.

>I am sad.
No reason why she can't still get dragon powers. It's just that we don't need to worry about her going insane.

Anyone noticing her eyes are open? That hadn't been the case since that close encounter with a spirit.

Is it bad that the thing I'm waiting for most isn't seeing if Farlin is okay, it's seeing Senshi's dragon recipe?

Yeah, and going back to her ditzy self once Farlynn is alive is a good touch.

Hopefully we'll get more about Marcille's black magic. There doesn't seem like there was much foreshadowing towards it besides what said.

>New chapter in 2 months
Shit what do I do now?

she's a defiler now, the ecology of the dungeon is gonna be fucked up with a such a major magical working!

INTO YOUR SACK, KENDER-SCUM!

>Hopefully we'll get more about Marcille's black magic.
That was cleaver actually. Because clearly they are going to be dealing with greater threats from now on, and the fact is everyone else could be buffed by gear upgrades. But the Elf mage couldn't be strengthened that easily so it is best that she already had hidden spells she hadn't used.

There is no way she got through that without complications. We might need an exorcism.

Wouldn't need to, she's usually a bloody mess down there.

>There is no way she got through that without complications. We might need an exorcism.
This isn't that kind of manga. More likely she would end up gaining benefits. Don't be surprised if she ended up becoming the new master of the Dungeon with her dragon powers.

>A genius cleric with a dragon power

Sounds like a mary sue character desu but I am ok with it.

>Sounds like a mary sue character desu but I am ok with it.
They are going to face the master of the Dungeon at some point. The Imouto needed something to keep her alive and justify being brought along.

>Character got eaten, had to sit out like 10 sessions, and managed to pass a resurrection check because another party member happened to specialize in necromancy.

I feel like she earned some dragon powers, m8.

Normally you probably would to bring the soul back but the dungeon traps souls so all you need to do is restore the body.

>confused as fuck
>can barely spell right

I'm afraid she may be infused with some dragon shit or something

volume 3 soon
extra chapter included

>specialize in black magic

>New chapter in 2 months

What?

I guess you could call her a Dark Magician Girl.

>>specialize in black magic
Yeah, that sounds like how black magic users does healing. Fast, effective, painful as hell.

Author is taking a break so that people can speculate on fire-breathing dragon imouto.

More like he left so many plot possibilities he's speculating imouto himself

DOMO ARIGOTO MR. TRANSLATOR SAN!

>servings

amazing.

This is getting worrying.

I don't want an evil necromancer elf waifu.

>that feel when next chapter you realize part of it is gonna be in the background senshi trying to kill marcille off and failing horribly since shes literally a necromancer LIKE THE MASTER OF THE DUNGEON. and the fact that he hates magic in general.

So could some with more /tg/ experience than me explain what black magic entails?

more like some after effect of black magic - maybe that's why farlyn's soul warned Laius to let her go.

There's always a cost for dark magics.

>Senshi beheads Marcille in her sleep
>party wakes up to a hotpot stewing

Pleb.

Depends on the setting :^).

>don't
What are you, a casual?
Besides, Laius is gonna end up having an elf waifu who extends his life until he lives as long as an elf.
Black magic generally refers to highly effective magic that is usually either necromantic or destructive in nature and almost always comes paired with an insidious hidden cost, like the caster's sanity being slowly eroded.

oh no i don't even think so, i imagine it would more be played for comedy purposes until she saves his ass and convieniently forgets he should probably end her for the good of everyone in the dungeon, also dragon imouto would probably be able to fix that pretty fast.

>Senshi beheads Marcille in her sleep
>party wakes up to a hotpot stewing
>Senshi suddenly looks shocked
>Marcille is right there with a bowl smiling at him
>everyone else is confused but too hungry to care about it

Black magic depends on the setting, but typically it refers to darker magic that does terrible shit thats usually banned for a good reason, typically necromancy falls under this for very obvious reasons and is the primary referenced method that is black magic.
there are other things, like enchantment and transformation can fall under this since theres some seriously evil shit you can do with it, but necromancy in most media is typically the main thing under black magic.

>implying laius's dragon imouto isn't also his waifu.

>implying laius's dragon imouto isn't marcille's waifu.

nah

>Besides, Laius is gonna end up having an elf waifu who extends his life until he lives as long as an elf.

>having elf waifu harvesting the blood from the innocent to expand his life

you think he would be okay with that?

>not defaulting to the GURPS

>white = good
>black = bad
Both /tg/ and Sup Forums agree

Do you think Marcille would ever let him find out?
MTGposter please go.

>implying marcille didn't die right here and come back from the dead
>implying marcille is an elf and not a full on lich.

Ms Kui, centaur waifu when?

>they finally meet the endgame sorcerer
>he bows down to marcille and calls her master

Marcille swings for the other team though

Depends on the setting but almost always it's some type of forbidden stuff that may or may not be irredeemable to practice.

I had to.

>You will never enjoy one healthy serving of imouto

It ranges from setting to setting, but assuming our translations are accurate, "black magic" appears to be magic from a prior civilization / era that is now considered evil - typically due to the nature it is conducted, or what it does. In this situation, it can be construed to be necromancy - more like using blood and force to bind a soul to a body rather than restoring themselves to the former selves as with proper restoration magic. Notice the strain put on her body - normally black magic is associated with costs and stuff. If anything, I'd assume the magic she specializes in is similar to the magic the painting guy uses, so this may be real important later.

So it was foreshadowed then...

Reminder that real friends don't revive each other using forbidden black magic.
