Erwin fucked up fantastically on that final plan,sniping the boss by sacrificing everyone else. The assassin would realistically be dead after the boss is killed due to being surrounded.

I've seen it. Everybody's seen it. That's why I found the last chapter great when Armin got fucked up by Bert, it was cool to finally see a major character gets killed in action. But no, literal deus ex machina gets wasted to resurrect him, nullifying any interesting development we could have seen on the remaining characters.

Also fucking Reiner escaped death in every last fucking chapter as it was not ridiculous enough.

He didn't knock it away, he was dreaming or hallucinating about the past. Though what he said is what made Levi decide to not inject him, because Erwin's entire life was hell and a constant thirst for chasing after stuff. He never had dreams of a normal life, he would always be a workaholic. So by not injecting him it was like putting him out of his misery. Erwin would never be satisfied with normal life, that's why he never got married or wanted a family.

Armin gets the injection because he believes in a normal life after all this shit, traveling the outside world and seeing the ocean.

Is this still expected to end in 2018?

Armin got a proper resolution with his sacrifice and passing his dream on to Eren. It was a better death than any other character is ever going to get and the entire chapter was dedicated to it. Reviving him shat all over that and made it pointless, it's bad writing.
