Whoever made that is either misinformed or purposely misleading others.
The core was not a "hollow tube" and the columns weren't freestanding like noodles, they were interconnected in every direction and tied to the perimeter walls by the hat truss (which was from floors 107-110)
The core carried 60% of the building's weight. Column thickness and weight were divided into three sections: the bottom third were the thickest and heaviest, the middle third were slightly thinner and lighter, the top third were the thinnest and lightest.
The building was designed to carry 3 times its own weight. A few damaged or destroyed columns and perimeter wall sections wouldn't cause total structural failure.
Also, if the fire was 1500F why weren't the perimeter walls glowing red hot?
