How does Sup Forums feel about Gundam Seed?
Despite the horridly abundant use of flashbacks and a tad too much stock footage, I thought it was a pretty satisfying series. The show really started to shine in the second half when it stopped being a lesser clone of 0079, despite the villains becoming a little cartoonishly evil. I don't really understand why it's so vehemently loathed by so many.

It made Normalfags unable to tolerate Hiraiface and thus saved many fun and interesting shows from the cancerous infestation and ruination by that blight.

SEED is okay, Destiny is trash.

I liked it even though it wasn't anything amazing, I belive most of the worse hate it gets is retroactively from Destiny, which is as much of a abomination as people make it out to be.
It was decent.
The romance was trash, the stock footage was trash, Jesus Yamato's return was trash, but the mechas were cool, and the story was alright.

It's garbage on so many levels— but it was pioneering as retooling the franchise to target the fujo demographic, and it saved the franchise and paved the way for the dark and terrible bastion of stupid that gundam has become.
It's the worst parts of shoujo forced drama bullshit delivered with the trappings of an old 80s shonen series. Character motivations are either laughably one-dimensional (I will blindly hold a frothing hate them forever and ever because they are [trait]), or their actions are dominated by the their most immediate and superficial emotions. That's not even counting the frequent use of complete asspull writing that somehow managed to make the franchise's predecessors, never a bastion of reason, seem downright logical and grounded.
Easily the worst series in all of Gundam. Even G-Gundam is less retarded than SEED or especially SEED: Destiny.
SEED was the definition of average.
Destiny was actually pretty thrilling up until it shit the bed in its last quarter. I went into it thinking that it would be a twist-an-episode trainwreck like Valvrave but it didn't get bad until later on. Durandal was a much better villain than the Char clone in SEED.
Conversely, it also protected normalfags from the horrors of Olynssis and the Linebarrels anime.
Well, I like that it spawned the strike freedom in 'seed destiny'. It's my favorite Gundam in terms of aesthetics.

This was SEED's biggest mistake. It was completely fine when it stole from 0079 but when the training wheels came off the writing went to complete ass. The quality descends rapidly after Kira's "death" and it keeps getting worse and worse. Mechs are good tho.

Despite how little respect I have for it, I have an absolutely inexplicable fondness for SEED.
Strike Justice felt so monstrous and the stupidly dramatic bits like whats-her-face confronting Kira after he lets her boyfriend die were oddly delicious.
Kira-Arthrun was always a fun rivalry too, as devoid of substance as it was.
I dunno, I get the appeal.

It's an extremely promising series up until episode 7. From episode 8 onwards it stumbles and starts rolling downhill, and by the end of the Brewers arc becomes irredeemable. The characters are mind-numbingly flat, especially Kudelia who we're supposedly meant to view as someone who changes through the show despite her staying the same throughout. Mika is so dull he makes Eggs from A.Z look like a developed character. The only character we ever get any reason to root for is Gaelio, the local Garma. The writing is filled with exposition, repeating the same things multiple times and characters always saying their intentions regardless of whether it fits the scene or not (most likely due to the backlash to G-Reco's lack of exposition and somewhat overt reliance on show, don't tell). The pacing is guts-on-a-boat level, the action sometimes devolves into YEAAAAART, although there are some cases where the fighting is nice in creative, but I only remember them from the aforementioned 1-7 episode stretch. The MS designs are great though.
The worst thing is, I wouldn't be as mad about the show if I hated it for the sake of hating it. But I genuinely loved the start and defended it in the threads on both Sup Forums and /m/ when people complained about the pacing.

Watch it anyway, then join us for S2's threads. Should be a marked improvement since Kudelia's going to stay on Earth and hopefully never be seen or heard from again while Tekkadan goes back into space.
Obviously flawed, but I still quite enjoyed it. Even Destiny.
I suspect watching it at the same time Aldnoah part 2 was airing helped make Destiny look much better in comparison.
Easily the worst Gundam series I watched. SEED had potential but it ends up wasted. LOL SEED Destiny was just pure unadulterated garbage especially when the main character role gets usurped by Kira that I didn't bother finishing it.
It was a miracle that the series was popular enough that Kira and Lacus was a consist presence of the character popularity polls in Newtype for over a DECADE.
The only good about SEED was the OP/ED music. The music was great. TM Revolution and Nami Tamaki delivered some great songs for the series.

I agree. Just finished AGE a couple weeks ago and it was okay on Gen 1 and it was getting better on Gen 2, but then Gen 3 starts and all goes straight to shit. The pacing was atrocious. Fucking Level 5.

Turn A was comfy, though it sort of got stupid in the end because the crew remembered that since it's a mecha show they need a flashy and big final conflict.
Just watch 0079, Zeta, 8th MS, War in the pocket, Igloo if you can stand CG, Stardust Memories, ZZ, Char's Counterattack and Unicorn.
