It was fucking terrible. Every episode will be fucking terrible. It's running at a literal 10 fps. This anime is a fucking disgrace, and it makes me puke now that I'm starting to see people defending it and saying it's "really good" and it's "improved so much"

Literally nothing has changed. The story has moved forward, that's it. The animation is the same, the CGI is the same, the stiff as a board voice acting is the same, the music is horrible. nothing. has. changed.

How the fuck can something "become better" if nothing changes to make it better? I'm pretty sure people who tell themselves this are just deluding themselves because they're in denial. Because once you view it rationally, you realize they haven't done a damn thing to make this anime better.

Years of having shit computers whilst trying to run high-end games. You get used to seeing what 10-15 fps looks like.

30fps is shit compared to 60fps, but I know for a fact this anime isn't even running close to 30fps, because it would be A LOT better if it was.

the poor animation is less of a problem than the the jarring camera angles and movement. I can barely tell what is going on half the time during action scenes. I still watch it though cause any new animated berserk is good enough for me at this point since I don't read manga.

They're not animating 24 different frames per second. They either animate it at a lower fps and re-render it to TV or extending the frames so it might as well be the the same as animating it at a lower frame rate.
Berserk is 3D however and doesn't have to be redrawn, so they deliberately keep it at a very low frame rate to keep it closer to the anime style. No matter what fps they animate it in, however, TV standard is 23.976, so its always post rendered at that FPS for that reason.

Moron, the reason the CGI is kept at a lower fps is to match the style of the typical hand drawn anime which usually looks very choppy because they sacrifice frame animation to maintain the art quality. There's no other reason for why those CGI scenes are low fps, 3D animation interpolates everything, its not like they would have to manually fill in all those frames.

No shit? Do you think someone had a gun to the back of their head forcing them to do CGI? They willingly decided to do this instead of just make it like any other anime, which is why it's fucking trash. If they wanted to "keep the style" then they wouldn't have made it in 3D.

I'm not arguing their choice of 3D however I'm only explaining why the 3D is animated at such a low choppy looking fps. I would have much preferred something hand drawn. Or if they were gonna go 3D, for it to be like the movie. But the models, the animation, all of it is for the sake of keeping everything in the same vain as your typical hand drawn anime.

Considering how fucking awful this looks how do you know they're not doing keyframe only animation? I mean if they can't make models with properly deforming joints then why do you think they have any idea what the fuck they're doing?

I highly doubt that's whats going on, or if it is it's simply because they're incompetent and have never done 3D animation before (which they haven't) and think the rules of 2D animation apply the same way.

I highly doubt they're doing it to "appease" to the fans or something.

It would be an explanation but how the hell would we know? A much more logical one would be that it's all deliberate. I don't think they're that incompetent, especially considering that the show has its moments where you see the potential. There's moments where things really do shine but it's brief.
Maybe it could also be a budget thing, None the less, amateurs can animate smoother than this and that's a fact, examples of independent people who are just getting started are all over the internet. They don't look anything like the show. You think an entire studio couldn't figure it out? No way, if I had a studio and the same budget It'd blow the animation out of the water. And I'm no big shot.
And yes, they very well could be doing keyframe animation, and what I'm saying is that if they are, it's by choice.

Well the show is doing relatively well, most of the harsh criticism comes from none other than Berserk fans, who are critical as fuck about any Berserk adaptation.

Dude what? The show is doing HORRIBLE. Reviews from the west AND Japan are overwhelmingly negative. There are only supposed to be 12 episodes too.

And of course most of the criticism comes from Berserk fans, because there's no way in hell a non-Berserk fan can get in to and understand this anime because of its horrific direction and pacing. With every episode I watch, I just imagine what my reaction would be if I knew nothing about Berserk. I would be completely fucking lost. It's bad for a fan of Berserk, but it's horrendous for a casual watcher.

Trust me, this show will not get renewed past the 12 episodes.

The last 5 or so minutes was the only bit that was tolerable. Made me interested to see if the next episode will be any better.
