I don't think it's specified which class Santa was in. He's not in 78 because we already know everybody that was in that class took part in the mutual killing game from the first game.

Koichi confirmed DR1 cast was the only class 78 at HPA. Class 77 had a big amount of students which is why they needed multiple classrooms to fit them in.
