DNA editing technology and embryo-selection will be emerging within the coming decades and from the looks of it, the Chinese (and subsequently Asia in general) are the race/culture with the requisite combination of amorality and materialism to be the first to implement/consume this technology en masse. Further they have the cultural brute force of millions upon millions highly conformist families in fierce competition for a leg-up against one another in their highly regimented society.
Consider the above points along with current observable traits of Chinese (and, to varying extents, all other Asian) people acquired through centuries of artificial selection imposed by continuous, authoritarian state power in a feedback loop with genetics, creating slave-caste tax cattle observable as the 21st century Asian: >conformism, incuriousness, obedience, timidity, lack of creativity, general disregard for their countrymen and fellow human beings, etc
One must wonder/worry that the first generations of humans effected by aforementioned technologies will be designed by Chinese, raised by Chinese, and built from a Chinese genetic template.
Laying aside more general concerns about these technologies and moral quandaries inherent to them, what will be the repercussions of the Chinese specifically being the first population to design a generation based on whims and trends of a market likely to be highly influenced by a desire to compete economically with each other in a literal filial genetic arms-race?
