Megumi Nakajima was a terrible VA. Her acting was really akward and unnatural in Frontier so no wonder she didn't get any good roles afterwards. And her singing voice was pretty mediocre too.
Minori has better voice and acting, she has a lot more chances to make a successful career.

I met a guy who says he's working on the English subtitles for the Delta Blu-Rays. Apparently they're the same team that did the English subtitles on the 30th anniversary edition box set of the Frontier movies.

I agree. I didn't think her voice fit Ranka's character design. It's like they chose a voice actor based on their singing skills and did not care rather or not the voice fitted the character or not.

Nakajima doesn't have a bad voice. It's unique and cute. The problem is she sucks at singing and her voice isn't good for singing anyway. Ranka's appearance, voice, and personality made it hard to write songs for her. All her songs were like some cutesy babby shit. Really, the character herself was a mess, especially compared to Sheryl.

Reminds me Full Moon wo Sagashite. Main character is 12 year old girl who can turn into older 16 year old girl using magic. They picked a famous singer as her VA. And while she sounded fine for 16 year form and her songs were amazing (just an example - youtube.com/watch?v=K4UOo-E2Auw), her voice was completely alien for 12 years old girl. It took me like 10 episodes until I got used to it.
That 12 year old girl had throat cancer so at least she had canon reason to have such strange voice. But there is no excuse for Ranka's ugly voice.

Mamegu was terrible in TV but she does pretty good in movie though.

With this episode, there is no doubt that Freyja will end up with Hayate.
