>Just started watching Berserk because of the new series >Watched all 3 movies and read the manga >This fucking scene
Holy fucking shit this has got to be the most hardcore scene I've ever seen in anime. Like, this nigga legit rapes her in front of her lover whilst he rips off his own arm and gets his eye gouged out.
This puts every other "suffering" manga to shame. . .like holy shit I'm still in awe and still very hard
>Holy fucking shit this has got to be the most edgy scene ftfy
Brandon Howard
I feel like most people who haven't read Berserk are now reading like their first manga or something. Hey at least its a start and it could be worse
Nolan Morales
>This puts every other "suffering" manga to shame watch texhnolyze
Charles Butler
If you have more dark shit like this not edgetier shit I will happily take a recommendation.
Elijah White
>texhnolyze will do user it looks interesting
Ethan Lewis
I thought it was pretty gay
dont get why people enjoy "suffering" anything
Xavier Gomez
Yeah, I doesn't get more heavy metal than Berserk
Ryder Watson
Blade of the Immortal
Julian Thomas
And to think she loved every single second of it
Dominic Smith
It's not that I enjoy the suffering, it's more I'm really offput about it. Like, most anime, even the more brutal ones are too much of a pussy to do something like this.
You compare this to edgetier shit like Tokyo Ghoul where people scream about how tortued Kaneki was, and it just does not compare in the slightest.
That's what I like, shit that other shows just won't do.
I was mad FOR Guts. God fucking damn that was brutal.
Elijah Adams
Fuck off Faggith apologist
Zachary Smith
I dropped it after this shit desu, still mad
Henry Nguyen
>tfw your best friend turns into a bird and rapes your girl Try anime like tehxnolyze For manga Blade of the immortal Kingdom more edgy than dark Kokou no Hito shit in the beginning Blame! No longer human Dorohedoro
Zachary Allen
>tfw your best friend turns into a bird and rapes your girl This nigga joined a criminal group called hawk and then stole his best friend's girl. Confirmed plagiarist.
Cringe jokes aside, I'm watching the first episode of Tehxnolyze right now and am confused as fuck. Will continue on with the rest of those recommendations after.
Thanks user
Jeremiah Perez
I've read a shit ton of manga, and just started Berserk. I'm really liking it, too. I do mostly read edgy stuff and shonenshit, though.
Kevin Murphy
based on your posts you would probably like Gantz The manga is much better than the anime
Justin Thompson
Griffith just finally gave Casca the D she wanted.
Easton Nelson
100% pure edge

This your first manga?
Jeremiah Kelly
Too bad real Berserk ended a long time ago.
Black Swordsman arc + Golden Age arc + Lost Children arc = Berserk.
Everything after that is basically a different story (with characters from Berserk). If you read the whole manga you will see what I mean.
Adam Evans
2016 looks actually gay.
Nathaniel Cruz
Not saying it's anywhere on par with the Eclipse but I recently watched this series and this nigga's death was pretty fucking brutal AND ballsy:
But seriously, Berserk went downhill after the Lost Children arc ended. It was supposed to be about Guts' personal war to avenge his fallen comrades, NOT a Lord Of The Rings rip-off (Casca = the ring) and a nice, happy D&D party.
It's probably too late now to save Berserk. Miura knows that he fucked up when he decided to change the theme of the story 180 degrees. Why do you think Berserk is now being published irregularly? Because Miura himself is no longer interested in Berserk.
Think about it.
Aaron Long
>It was supposed to be about Guts' personal war to avenge his fallen comrades There has always been more to Berserk than that m8.
Carson Martin
Well I think him being with the party shows his character development after being a psychopathic killer that despises everyone to being more accepting like how it happened with the band of the hawk so the new group is kind of like the band of the hawk ( embarrassing i know). Miura can probably unfuck it though if the whole party dies if griffith does start a sacrifice in Falconia and Guts kills casca after she cant be cured (unless she also dies in the sacrifice).
Luke Ward
Well, wasn't it also some kind of "Senpai-finally-noticed-me"-scene...
Samuel Gray
>after the Lost Children arc ended So 2 arcs total of Gut's personal war? The whole point is that Gut's personal war was futile. This is why he lost Casca in the 2nd part of conviction arc and had to retrieve/save her. Gut's personal war is a wild goose chase for the first 2 arc (barring Golden Age of course), Guts got hammered hard that he lost Casca for the 2nd time.
Jonathan Davis
Well, unpopular opinion, but every arc until Schierke apppeared was good. After Schierkes appearance, it went downhill...
Julian Lewis
Of course dude. This is the best absolute dark story of manga that I ever read.
Hudson Parker
That Fucking BITCHH !!! I'm disguted by that man or rather piece of shit. What's actually he's purpose ?! fucking woman like that. Fuck that bitch
Lincoln Morales
That Fucking BITCHH !!! I'm disguted by that man or rather piece of shit. What's actually he's purpose ?! fucking woman like that. Fuck that bitch
Carter Myers
>>It was supposed to be about Guts' personal war to avenge his fallen comrades >There has always been more to Berserk than that m8.
There wasn't.
This is why the Black Swordsman arc was published first and the Golden Age was a giant flashback arc. This is why the Lost Children arc continues right where the Black Swordsman arc left off and why Guts matures by the end of Lost Children and his Beast of Darkness is introduced.
THAT is how Berserk should have continued. Miura isn't a terrible writer but let's be honest, almost everything after Lost Children was an asspull.
If Griffith was planning to "come back" why wasn't this even hinted at during the Black Swordsman arc when Guts met him in the astral plane?
If the Kushan Empire was such a threat and on the march to conquer the world why were they never mentioned during the Golden Age arc? It's an asspul. Consider that the Bakiraka guys were portrayed as mercenaries for hire from the far east in the Golden Age arc, BUT then we find out that they are actually the Kushan Empire's special forces. That's dumb writing. WTF were these guys working for the King of Midland and why were they allowed to live and work in Midland in the first place?
And the BIGGEST asspull of them all. If Guts loves Casca so much why doesn't he remember her at all during the Black Swordsman and Lost Children arcs?
And hell, I'm one of those fans who actually liked the berserker armor and I think that it makes a lot of sense for Guts to have it. I liked the idea of apostles fighting as an organized military unit, just not the way it was done. Now if Berserk became more like The Running Man (after the Lost Children arc ended) with apostles organizing a mercenary band to hunt Guts down, it would have been a much better story than what Miura did.
Jaxson Johnson
Gut's solo war is a wild goose chase. It's been hammered down multiple times that it's about protecting Casca. Even Guts admitted his mistake. This is why the anime picks up right after Lost Children.
You're one of those people who completely missing the point and thought that the marines should've won in Avatar
Joshua Rodriguez
Violence Jack if you want pure edge for the sake of edge Devilman if you want a Berserk tier "dark as fuck but with a story that justifies it" style manga. Fist of the North Star was lots of Violence too I mention these three because theyre Miuras main influences outside of western movies and Guin Saga Now if youre just into some blood and titties (and who isnt?) There like 1000 1980's OVAs for you to watch. Usually with much better animation than youll see today
Ryan Turner
I think the Count arc pretty solidly showed that trying to fight Femto is just throwing Guts life away. You cant beat reality warping powers with just a sword.
William King
>>after the Lost Children arc ended >So 2 arcs total of Gut's personal war? The whole point is that Gut's personal war was futile.
Uh what? He was hunting down and killing the monsters who killed his friends... which is exactly what he vowed to do right after surviving the Eclipse.
>Gut's personal war is a wild goose chase
I must be reading a different manga then. Did you forget that the Count, and Rosine, and her friends attacked and ate some of the members of the Band Of The Hawk even before the Eclipse happened. And don't forget what the Count did to Pippin during the Eclipse. They were evil scum that had to die, and that's exactly what we see happen.
Just because Guts couldn't do anything to Griffith when they met in the astral plane doesn't make Guts' war of revenge pointless. Every time Guts kills an apostle the world becomes a better place. But we also saw that apostles (other than Wyald) aren't just 1-dimensional villains with no story or personality. THAT is how Berserk should have continued.
>After Schierkes appearance, it went downhill...
It did. I hate how she became the 2nd most important hero in the story. I hate the idea that Guts and Schierke are "destined" to be together. This wasn't needed at all. And I really hate that she is a kid. Who the hell wants to see a smartass loli in a manga like Berserk? Why did Miura think this was a good idea? At least Jill went home when the Lost Children arc ended, and Erica doesn't play a major role in the story.
Hudson Reed
I thought the idea that he was this cold beast who could endure a one man war against the supernatural was thrown out the window in the first chapters before the flashback.
Not only was the power of the God Hand utterly overwhelming, he's shown having a small breakdown in that one famous panel as he leaves the Count's castle after dealing with his daughter. The sheer mental and emotional distress he was going through was eating away at him and he was barely surviving, let alone the physical torture he put his body through.
It seems natural that he would have to find help along the way; it emphasizes the sheer scale of what he was against. Futility is a common theme in the series and Gut's initial journey after the Eclipse encapsulate that.
Xavier Foster
Oyasumi Punpun if you wanna be depressed. Not an action manga but shits fucked
Hunter Evans

This. Guts is a cuck a C U C K U C K
Ryder James
(0.02$ has been added to your falconia bank account).
Ignore apostle shills
Joseph Clark
You're ignoring the bigger picture and the mental and emotional aspects
The Golden Age should have hammered this home. Guts was a prodigy in combat with nearly superhuman ability but it wasn't enough. Comradery and Casca changed him for the better.
I think any emotional depths would be neutered if Guts could just rage his way through absolutely everything alone and be successful, and the series certainly wouldn't be as compelling.
William Cruz
Holy fuck what a speed reader. Your only legitimate complaint is that Griffith's motivations weren't clear from his first appearance, which is likely because yes, Miura hadn't gotten around to plotting that out completely yet.
>If the Kushan Empire was such a threat and on the march to conquer the world why were they never mentioned during the Golden Age arc? It's an asspull.
Nobody saw the Ottomans coming, either.
Because they were, they make a plot point of the fact that these guys are primarily a mercenary/assassin force that was co-opted by Emperor Ganishka. They had been going around hiring themselves out for hundreds of years prior to that.
>And the BIGGEST asspull of them all. If Guts loves Casca so much why doesn't he remember her at all during the Black Swordsman and Lost Children arcs?
Dude was drowning himself. He ran away to what he thought he knew best, killing, and went deeper and deeper until hanging around Puck too much reminded him of what he left behind.
Blake Wood
That should have been true for Ganishka as well. Combined with SK's rifting abilities, he might be able to strike a blow or two. But the final battle will not be fought with blades
Nicholas Cox
I actually like all the magic stuff in Berserk.
Ian Russell
>until hanging around Puck too much reminded him of what he left behind not him but it wasn't puck that reminded him, it was his deformed child that warned him of the danger. The one who called Guts out on his bullshit was Godo. I don't know what the problem with Sup Forums is but that moment before the tower of conviction was probably the biggest character development for Guts and was very important for the series.
Ryan Ramirez
>gayer with each year
Tyler Smith
>he's never seen the daily reminder for tehxnolyze
You fucked up pretty bad. You don't even know what the fuck you're even talking about.
The movies are painfully mediocre. The anime is GOAT.
Asher Bailey
Seconding Devilman and Violence Jack. Devilman in particular is a legitimate masterpiece.
Dylan Nguyen
should I pick this back up I watched through something episode 4 or 5 and dropped it because I couldn't understand anything that was going on
I only picked it up because robot limbs are rad and shit and I would willingly remove my fully functional right arm and replace it with a cool robot arm
Jacob Evans
Kek nice trips
Matthew Baker
Was anyone else extremely disappointed by Devilman? I can't believe something so generic even by 1970s standards inspired Miura.
Robert White
It's probably got the slowest start of any anime I know. The MC literally spending 3 episodes trying to climb up and down some stairs is super painful to get through. Everything afterwards is solid gold.
Justin Lewis
I can understand that. Berserk and especially that scene manage to just strike at your core in ways others don't. No pussying around.
William Martinez
>Was anyone else extremely disappointed by Devilman?
Sebastian Brooks
I was going to make a point about how Berserk is the only manga anyone ever reads but was met with this instead.
turns out I don't know fucking anything. Tokyo Fucking Ghoul is about to over take it.
Lucas Torres
He's gonna be K-ON-tier in the year 2020
Oliver Cruz
10-15 years ago you were probably right. But I don't think MAL's audience has to patience to sit through nearly 350 chapters.
Austin Walker
I've always thought people were too hard on 1997 Griffith. I think that the original series' style is the best we could have hoped for.
Julian Jackson
>He's gonna be K-ON-tier in the year 2020
Leaked concept art
Ayden Nelson
Not an asspull. It was more mystical.
Elijah Rogers
>re-read berserk >seeing caska not retarded >remember how much i liked her >get to OP part
NEVER FORGIVE! GRIFFITH WILL PAY!
Xavier Rogers
you got to admit, it impressive that a series 30 years old is even on that list
David King
Everybody who knew about it told him he wasn't going to win it. They are right.
Owen Morgan
You all know Casca will be killed the moment they fix her brain problems, right?
Angel Myers
nah. she will live alone though beacuse everyone else will die.
Josiah Ward
>she leaves Guts for Griffith
Lincoln Robinson
>implying there won't be a training montage to get her up to strength
Evan Cook
>elf king removes her brand >mind starts to return >remembers everything, even the things guts did when he was berserk to her >activates his behelit >guts has to fight enraged casca
Aaron Torres
can you leave Sup Forums please
Charles Myers
so we get a new chapter in like a week, do you think we'll get on to the elf king by the end of it?
Christian Cox
>Speedlines are better than mediocre cgi
Caleb Perry
Watch Re:Zero, it's a lot better and the best anime to come.
Carson Morales
I don't see how you can be upset that Tokyo Ghoul might be about to overtake it when Shitgeki and even Naruto Tail already did.
Jack Hall
>Expecting progress
It'll be another Griffith interlude and you know it. Probably a Sonia episode just to kick you in the dick that bit harder
Tyler Edwards

Hudson Taylor
i miss 1997 so much
Christian Moore
>you will never be love heart batman
How could this shock you? she's almost raped like 90 times leading up to this point
Colton Harris
Reading chapter by chapter must be fucking torture. Why not at least wait until a volume is done before reading on?
Caleb Scott
>Nobody saw the Ottomans coming, either. Not to mention the Sea Peoples, Goths, Huns, Mongols, The Conquistadors landing in the Americas, etc.
Know it's kind of hard to imagine in the modern world, but there are plenty of instances throughout history of civilizations being attacked by invaders that come essentially out of nowhere. Hell, the Mongols hit Hungary so suddenly and so ferociously that they were honestly convinced they were the heralds of Gog and Magog coming to herald the end times for a time.
Jacob White
i do too, i dont know what everyones on about
Cooper Robinson
>Sup Forums suddenly pretends to hate berserk >to the point that people are saying the stupidest shit like saying that the art is bad I won't ask what happened because its pretty obvious what happened
But to answer OP's question I think that no matter how much one tries to compare it, the eclipse definitely is one of the most brutal scenes/moments of all manga. The rape alone is nothing by itself though
Josiah Scott
>elsa as the ero-elf Muh
Jaxson Howard
because you'd be waiting like 5 years for the next volume to be completed
Lincoln Campbell
The rape scene is incredibly graphic for something that's not a hentai.
Hunter Russell
>YFW
Ryan Long
I'm patiently waiting for this. SK has already foreshadowed that something huge is going to happen when Casca is cured and it won't be good. Plus, there're those repeated warnings from the hell hound as well.
