id say join the military but it's too late for that

No, I already make way too much money to go down to a shit military wage

You need to watch Jordan Peterson's lectures to get some actual purpose before you try to improve yourself, otherwise you're just doing something you see as purposeless.

Also, Sup Forums isn't your fucking livejournal, take your 'hurr durr I hate my life' bullshit somewhere else

You need to do it so constantly that it becomes a part of the daily routine.

Also figure how much out you should eat daily, and measure how much calories you are eating

Hello Sup Forums. Long time lurker first time poster. I posted this in /sci/ but didn't get responds, so I will repost here.

I am kinda in a tough situation and wanted your take on it. I am on my final semester, and doing the second part in my research project. To make a long story short, I fucked up on my first part and got a shitty 2.0 mark on the subject. Now my supervisor refuses to acknowledge my emails and when he rarely does, he replies with one or two words.

Now, as a mechanical engineer:
1) Assuming I also get a 2.0 in part 2, am I fucked later on while searching for job?

2) Is there anything I could do this late on the semester?

3) Please send we words of support. I am paralyzed with fear and didn't have a good night's sleep since last sem, due to constant nightmares. I didn't work on the project in two weeks since every time I head for the lab I panic and head for the library instead. I am that cowardly and a piece of shit, please order me to finish it maybe it would help.

how do i stop masturbating to sissy porn, /sig/?

is this bait

Stop reading Descartes. Read something that isn't fucking hard as shit if you're trying to get into reading.
Try Lord of the Rings, it's fun, patrician, and easily read.

You can make it for sure. Getting a job is easy and once your hired you only need to be likeable to get promoted.

stop sending e-mail and talk to your supervisor
tell him whats going on

Ill probably regret asking, what the fuck is /sig/?

>spoonfeeding
self improvement general

I spent a week in a psych ward detoxing from alcohol and i relapsed in 33 days. I don't have a job and i'm running out of money and my parents don't trust me for shit.

Hrt obviously

Self-Improvement General

Lately it hasn't been popping up, but it was a thread that people would discuss how to git gud at life.

It covered things like:
- kicking bad habits
- nutrition (ignore steak and eggs)
- fitness (although /fit/ works too)
- hobbies (gardening was discussed last I saw)
- etc.

...

Accept that it happened and start over. Nothing wrong with back sliding so long as you get right back on the wagon bro.

My brother just got done drinking himself to death. Thats one option you have.

googoogaagaa

Already read that when I was a child, and a few times since

I only got into Descartes because I was reading a book by Dilbert Man, but then it became apparent to me that he stole his ideas on God and the Universe from real philosophers.

>soft dev
I'm gonna assume you eat like shit so, start supplementing with B vitamins, L-arginine, zinc and DHEA in order to have more energy/stamina. Eat more cruciferous veggies, seeds and whole grains and seasonal, local fruit if possible.
NO FUCKING SUGAR WHATSOEVER EXCEPT NATURALLY OCURRING FRUCTOSE. Banish the Sugar Jew from your body, you will never look back.

Sleep right. This alone will boost your testosterone levels, which in turn will speed up metabolism, which in turn will give you more energy.
Good luck user.

Not bait

Thanks user. Let's hope for the best

It's difficult to tell the whole story without it being a walltext and I failed to portray that I did go physically numerous times but he replies with yes or no even to questions requiring complex answers. The supervisor's contribution to the whole ordeal is about 40%

So, let's say I get into homesteading, and I have lots of veggies and fruits to sell. How do I get rid of them? Do I sell them myself or are you able to sell them to whole foods or some other organic store.?

I would just focus on coming up with the money to get your CDL, that's a good non-political career. Also, I'm re-reading Wuthering Heights (shipping Cathy & Heathcliff ofc) right now and would highly recommend.

>ignore steak and eggs
What is ketogenesis

This

You have to take things incrementally and steadily. Don't just immediately jump into the whole "Meditate/lift/eat clean/read classics/learn to shoot/learn a trade/grow your own food" lifestyle right away. Choose one thing to do, and integrate it into your life.
Once you've reached a point where that thing is seamlessly a part of your life, where you barely have to think about it to do it, move on to the next thing.

In terms of reading, you gotta unfuck your attention span. Start with short books, slowly move up. You shouldn't jump right into the classics, the language is obtuse and you'll only increase your uphill climb. Relearn attention span, then read the good shit.

I'm still working on other areas of my life, but I can advise you on weight loss because of my success with it. I lost 60lbs by following a CICO (Calories In, Calories Out) diet, which just means that I kept track of what I ate and stopped eating after I hit my calorie goal for the day. Here's why it worked:
- Progress was immediately observable. When you're very overweight or obese, you see results from dieting right away.
- At the same time, I had realistic goals. I didn't expect to lose 10lbs a week from a moderate calorie deficit.
- I had faith in the process. If you eat fewer calories than you burn just by existing due to your basal metabolic rate, you aren't going to gain weight. If I had gained weight, then the problem wasn't the system—it was me, fucking something up somehow. (When you find yourself estimating calories in foods, err on the higher side.)
- I had tools to track and facilitate my progress (a calorie tracking app, a bathroom scale, a kitchen scale, and a site to calculate my initial BMI; I recommend tdeecalculator.net/).
- CICO isn't a massive commitment, unlike diets that require you to eat proprietary prepared foods or cook everything from scratch yourself. The barrier to starting was low. I also didn't have to completely cut out foods that I liked; I just ate smaller portions.
TL;DR: focus on systems and not goals. If you choose the correct system, the goals will practically attain themselves.

>software engineer but HATE my company
try to get another job?

>will try to go to the gym, go steady for 1-3 weeks, then drop out with no motivation

just going to the gym eating healthy should by itself give you motivation. Do you know how to cook? Man up!

>have been trying to read some literature(Descartes) but can only get through a few pages a day before i get distracted

Audiobook(?)

Remember: All things in moderation, even moderation.

Recently I've completely changed my life around, structuring it in a way that balances my work and life. I work out every day, and have been losing a bunch of weight as a result of having more control over my life. I've also started a regiment to get all my work done in a timely manner. The structure is rather rigid but it sets me up for success and takes the stress out of "deciding when to start" (i.e. Procrastination)

That said sometimes even the best need break days. Last night I put all my work aside and played a video game until 3 am, when I normally go to bed at 10:00 pm. It was one of the most ellating experiences I've had in a while. Despite being tired, I feel excited and reenergized for life. I'm not going to make it a habit, but I will acknowledge the benefits of breaking your routine from time to time.

Get some powerblocks and a bench and work out at home. Removing the "going to the gym" part of the equation helps with motivation. I grew to enjoy lifting as I saw results, and I feel guilty if I have to skip a workout for whatever reason. Good habits build upon themselves, keep at it user.

100% serious

Search for a good psychotheraphist in your city, you're probably depressed.

Antidepressants changed my life, went from a fat & greasy koreaboo to landing a job in IB. I'm also leaner, stronger and healthier than ever, all that's lacking is a good conservative wife.

>powerblocks and a bench and work out at home
lmao no

Just search craigslist for a good power rack, barbell, bench & plates. Add an EZ bar for your arms and microload your way to the Chad life

Your problem is the dropping out of gym after 3 weeks bit. I know, I used to be that dude too. Lazy, not seeing any benefit or change fast enough, and then giving up a month in. Then I finally manned up, and starting taking things seriously, and planned a diet that got me a gram of protein per pound of body weight and stuck to it since. Bam. instant change. Massive mental health improvement too.

Stick with it for 6 weeks. Its week 4-5 where you start to get the gains, and gains is addictive. You'll get hooked like crack. Then your addiction to gym and eating healthy will do the rest, you won't need to worry about lack of motivation any more.

DO NOT do this OP. SSRI meds fuck you up. Getting in shape and fixing your diet will make you feel better, once you've got that going for you, take the confidence you've earned and get another job.

Force yourself to the gym and eat right at least long enough to see some change.
Once you can see your body changing you'll be hooked.
And don't overthink it. Grab a starting strength or 5/3/1 spreadsheet and eat more meat and fewer carbs, give it at least three solid months with no cheats or skipped workouts and you'll be golden.

Stop watching porn. It fucks with your natural motivation. I've mostly stopped porn and fapping and my other goals come a lot easier now!

Meh, powerblocks worked great for me and I don't have to have all that shit around. There are magnetic weights called "plate mates" for microloading that work great. I also developed a brutal grip thanks to using heavy as fuck dumbbells for everything.

My joints ache me as fuck every single time weather is changing, and since i live in poland I'm out of commission 3 days in a week because I can barely motivate myself to cook some food, and I LOVE cooking

I tried painkillers but they do nothing and i dont want to get addicted

Any hints to motivate myself despite the pain? Its bearable, but annoying enough to keep me awake at night and shit.

>- nutrition (ignore steak and eggs)

Nofap is for lazy fucks that want easy solutions that don't involve exercise. Of course a leaf is shilling that retardation.

Try pot.

Use a strain with CBD instead of THC, you won't get a head high but you'll get a great, natural pain reliever.

Don't know what the medical marijuana situation in poland is like, but if you love cooking, try making edibles. Eat one, and your pain will be gone.

I dont think I can get my hands on any decent quality pot here, people only smoke that designer drug shit that makes my lungs ache and gives me that "slide show" effect

But Ill keep that in mind.

I am going to tell you how I start my day. It takes roughly 10 minutes. It will work. That's probably less than you spend on the john shitting out last night's gorditas and big Mac.

First is spend 1 minute doing roughly 30 deep breathing exercises. Sit, with good posture, breathe deeply in and out.

Second, is ask yourself 3 things you are grateful for. It may be easier to think of the things you don't have, but truly being grateful for what you do have can start your psyche the right way. It doesn't have to be big, it can be small like "I'm grateful for the cooler weather."

Then spend the next 3 minutes praying. Family, friends, pets, whatever. People feel better when they help others, this can again improve that psyche for the whole day. This is my goal.

So there's 10 minutes.

Go eat some eggs, yogurt, vitamins, or whatever fuel you need for the day and kick today's ass! If you can get in a 30-45 min intense workout, I'm not interested in "I did 100 pullups," I want quality and intensity, not quantity. I'll do HITT training on cardio days.

Have you been to the doctor about it?

Wait shit, CBD is actually legal here.

No fap is true fap

To get you fit

> stop drinking sodas and sugary drinks
> avoid alcohol
> stop eating desserts, candies, cookies, etc
> drink water, unsweetened ice tea, black coffee, or green tea
> drink a superfoods mix with your water once a day for vitamins and minerals
> limit the amount of carbs
> eat more protein and good fats
> this will help your body go into ketosis to burn energy from fat than the carbs you eat (which keeps the fat)
> try intermittent fasting a few days a week (basically not eating anything in a 18 hour period. example: eat dinner at 7 PM and don't eat anything until 1PM for lunch and a early dinner. You can drink lots of water on a intermittent fast).
> lift weights. building muscle can help burn fat longer during the day than cardio
> interval cardio training (short fast bursts) overall a long run

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with my joints, they were hurting since I was little so I've spent a long time in doctor office.
It only happens when atmospheric pressure changes. When the big hurricane passed over poland 2 months ago I was able to "feel" it incoming because even my teeth started to hurt.

Shitty superpower.

Keep trying this shit the best you can until you're doing most of it or all of it everyday.

>cold showers
>no porn/no masturbating
>exercise
>meditate
>no shit foods or drink (takeaway food, sodas), no dairy either
>early wake (6am-7am)

>

Daily reminder to do fasting or intermittent fasting.
I've lost about 15kg in the past 2 months. I have also completely gotten rid of all junk food and alcohol cravings.

Make a clear picture of the life you want (presumably a wife and kids) and what kind of man you would be in that life.
Once the goal is clear, just focus on that every second of every day till you get it done.

Go do contracting work for the military. You make bank, should have access to their gyms, etc.

This. Enjoy you're brain zaps and uncontrollable rage user

THE MAN IN THE MIRROR

Could always grow you're own pot. It's a plant after all. And a fun hobby
