actually Hunter x Hunter is more like a seinen genre :^) Madhouse's masterful adaption of the Chimera ant saga competes with the greatest seinen manga in terms of dark themes and deconstruction of the genre.

Manga at this point is a sad joke, Jump should euthanize both the author and the series, or at least get someone else to draw it.

It's great, one of the few series that consistently surprises me. Togashi is a clever writer and I appreciate the unpredictability and variety in the series.

Togashi is a true master of his craft. The latest fight was so good I almost wanted to cry. It's been years since any manga has made me feel that way.

Pretty decent, lots of good ideas with not always that great execution, it has some interesting side characters but antagonists are one dimensional dickheads, pretty much every arc starts great but ends unsatisfactorily with unresolved or dropped plot points, some characters, like Pitou or Chrollo, have great designs other like most of Zodiacs or ant grunts look rubbish, while secondary characters can die or get hurt anytime the mains have gigantical plot armor, etc. There is a lot of things that I liked but also a lot of things that annoyed me.

The 99 anime was one of the first series I got into as a kid. I still enjoy the manga today, the 2011 series was pretty hype when it was being aired.

Pretty much evil for the sake of evil, which is not always bad thing but I think it is overdone, most of them are fuckers who would kill anybody or steal from anybody or cheat anybody who is not someone super important to them for money, for blind revange, for lulz or just because lol, they have no interesting moral dilemmas, no interesting goals and very simple, undeveloped personalities. I hoped that maybe Pitou or Yupi could be more than that but they got axed from story before they could develop for real. Meruem was only bullshiting and changing his mind all the time, and at the end only thing he really cared was playing gungi with "muh Komugi" I'm not sure If I can call it amazing character development.

-Most of the second part of Yorkshin arc for Killua and Gon. Like the one time when spiders kidnapped them. Sadists like Feitan and Phinks who kill for fun wanted to just let them go, for no reason, why?
-Or in Greed Island Arc when Killua goes on Hunter Exam and finishes it just by knocking out everyone else, why Netero passes him? Why Hisoka or Illumi never done that?
-When they finish playing the game. Why the hell Gon was the one to score most points in the quiz? Just because he is the MC?
-In ant Arc Ikalago tells Killua that he will never betray his ant friends and then he betrays his ant friends
-The whole Alluka Asspull just to heal Gon
-Tsubone and her abillity was a little bit to convinient
I could go on but those parts were the ones that I remembered the most and that kinda pissed me off.

The Troupe steals shit for the sake of it but they don't do it to be evil. They even engage in philanthropist work.
Genthru and the others were pretty evil but played the game it was meant to be played.
And if you think Meruem and the RG were evil for the sake of it you have to be genuinely stupid, they did the shit they did because that's what they were biologically programmed to do. Meruem even had an existential crisis and thought his actions were legitimately for the greater good, same for Pitou and Youpi which i'm not sure what you mean by "properly developed" considering they got significant characterization and development, did you expect them to do a complete 180 or something?

Every RG was doing everything for "muh king". I hoped that one of them would start to question it. I liked Pouf development when he became just more zealotous, fanatical, jealous and overprotective but I hoped that one of the other two would maybe become just more sceptical. From what I've seen, it's decent. The only and I mean ONLY character I'm sceptical about is killua, and even with Christina vee his fight with jones was still well done in dub format. At least, that's what I think.

And further motivation is hinted at with the message they left behind, maybe the Kurta wronged them or Meteor City in some way.
