I'm trying to find a documentary someone linked on here months ago - it was about Sodom and Gomorrah. An American archaeologist 'discovered' ruins that he believes to be Sodom and Gomorrah and found pottery shards that had vitrified as if they had been exposed to extreme heat.

I tell everyone that it's an interesting religion with a deep historical background and a great love for what they perceive as God. I went through RCIA and wanted to be Catholic at one point in my life but I'm more in the belief now that God is One eternal creator, not a trinity, no mommy of god and all that.

Anyone looking to get into Catholicism though, you should, go to your local RCIA if you can find one. You'll meet the most nicest people.

I used to be Catholic. But now I'm Orthodox. I attend a Greek Orthodox parish. I went to an exclusively Latin Mass parish approved by my Catholic archdiocese. But I eventually converted to Orthodoxy because I believe all the problems that Catholic Church faces - Liberalism, Modernism, homosexuality in the priesthood, ecumenism and liturgical degeneration - all this flows from the illicit authority which was usurped by the Bishop of Rome over the course of the first millennium of the church culminating in the Gregorian Reforms and the Great Schism. There is a saying in Russia - the fish rots from the head.

You didn't read my post, I am an ex-trad Catholic. So many Trads in the Catholic Church have woke up and joined the Orthodox Church it's not funny. You have to face facts: you're on a losing wicket arguing for papal supremacy. It's based on a loose and erroneous exegesis of Matthew 16:18. Any direct comparison with the Gospel of St John and Book of Acts contradicts it completely.

The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church because he has supreme authority over every other bishop in the world. This is an uncontroversial fact about the Catholic Church. You can pay lip service to the idea that Christ is the head of the Church all you want, but ultimately the Catholic Church is ruled by a single man, the bishop of Rome.
