Aku no hana/Flower of evil thread

So what does Sup Forums think about it?
Second season when?

I personally could relate to some of it, but i also wanted some form of a conclusion. I do have mixed feelings about the ''animation'' and the show does drag a bit. But the ending song was fucking creepy.

It was a perfect rape.

pro tip read the manga

Manga was amazing. Read that entire thing in one day. Anime, not so much.

The manga is basically a poor man's oyasumi punpun. Which is still decent I guess

Anime better than manga.

MASTERPIECE

basically summarizes Sup Forums's reaction on Aku no Hana

I didn't even like the manga that much, but that rotoscoping shit was a travesty.

Still better than Berserk

...

Not at all. How dumb are you to come across two manga with vaguely overlapping atmospheres and assume they're trying to do the exact same thing?

Is one of my favorite series.
It was good, fuck y'all.

Story was kinda stupid but it had some standout moments, like the classroom vandalism. I dig it more for its experimental style than anything else.

I found some of the plot points similar

Boring

Terribly boring

Jesus fucking Christ, it doesn't tell absolutely anything interesting. A show doesn't need to have action, be well animated or have a story, but god damn it is inexcusable for a show to be so boring, I fell asleep watching episode 2, and this comes from a guy who liked slow paced shit like bartender because at least it tells interesting things

They couldn't afford good looking actors?

Too revolutionary for that time (2013). Maybe in the future people will understand what Aku no Hana and Ping-Pong was trying to do.

They're fucking Japs.
What's saddest about that pic is that the live action looks watchable while the rotoscope looks like diarrhea.

>watch the anime
>don't understand
>read the manga
>don't understand
So...
>watch the anime again
>don't understand
>read the manga again
>don't understand
>read the Flowers of evil
>don't understand
>mfw I think I'm too dumb to understand.

To* dumb.
Sorry

It's about being pretentious and a hypocrite, user.
MC keeps his nose highbecause he reads literature, and pretend to be different than everyone else (specialsnowflacke, tortured soul bullshit) but he is just like very other japanese teenager idolising the pretty girl from his class. Redhead reads toomich into his actions and thinkssomeone else understands her. The ending is just him realising that is ok to like something he does not understand and redhair coming into terms with her lonelyness.

Thank you.

Why didn't we get this anime instead?

Yeah, everyone looks ugly, truly a great experiment.

That's fucking boring

>people not appreciating the rotokino

I actually like rotoscopy, but not in my chinese cartoons. Even live action would work better in this case.
Because we didn't deserve it.

>rotokino
Is this some meme from another board?

>I personally could relate to some of it
Which parts?

Fuck no you lobotomized chimp. Aku no Hana had the fucking decency to include the important message of:
Stop being a pretentious faggot

Oyasumi was just self hating gutter trash for edgy teens.

How old are you? Is a damn coming-of-age story. Every adult can relate.

How the fuck is Oyasumi punpun self hating?

Doing something very terrible and suffering from guilt so bad that it makes interaction with people, who think i did nothing wrong, really painful.

'twas a masterpiece

Good times. Good times.

I laughed with the pic

How terribly did this sell?

Did people that like Punpun never finish it or what?

This case of an anime render all the "studio is a slave that only get the money from the BDs" a bit unbelievable.

ZEXCS is not Madhouse (Yuasa's), why would they agree to do this pain of a job if they already know it won't sell because of the author's request on stylistic choice?

Must have been something else to back them up financially here.

That didn't answer my question at all.

The manga is in my top three favorites, by far.
I only watched the first two episode of the anime, before reading the manga, so I don't really have an opinion on it. I didn't mind the rotoscoping though, I don't understand why so many people hated it. Were they expecting a moeblob show?

it's manipulative, ugly, and melodramatic, but it's a masterpiece.

Sorry, I don't know.

Terribly bad according to this someanithing.com/series-data-quick-view

I think the actor still doesn't look as bad as the rotoscoped version.

Biased mangafags will cry out loud, but technically speaking its a masterpiece in terms of direction and acting.

>but muh rotoscoping
Ayy lmao it was great

The perfect bait for pretentious fuckwits. The very people the story is mocking are the same group of individuals overrating the fuck out of it. Should have seen the amount of 'critics' hailing this shit as the second coming of whatever back when it first aired.

Manga is fine though.
A nice self-contained story with not too many bells and whistles.

I didn't feel like it was self hating in any way
It left me with a deep feeling of carharsis after I finished it

It didnt bother me that much, and if i remember correctly, the rotoscoping got better as the show went along.

> Were they expecting a moeblob show?
I don't know, do you consider the original designs moeblobs? Because that's what people were expecting - characters that looked something like the manga counterparts, rather than incredibly ugly rotoscoping.

>B-BUT IT'S DIFFERENT
>I-IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT BECAUSE IT'S MEANT TO LOOK LIKE SHIT

Pretty much this.

It's good, but Sup Forums will say it's not because they can't deal with a anti-waifu style of animation and a call for their pretentious way of life.

OST was genius.

fuck off with this 3dpd looking shit

>and a call for their pretentious way of life
Re;Zero is the Aku no Hana of our generation.

The OPs were fucking amazing
youtube.com/watch?v=ShbWaW3c-AQ

My favorite is "It's ugly because that helps the unsettling atmosphere!" as though the contrast with Oshimi's pretty/delicate designs in the manga didn't already do that better while also not looking like shit.

There's a hate for it in here too?

Just got to the chapter where he goes on a "date" to the bookstore.

Does crazy girl eventually get put in her place? Or is this one of those series where characters don't really get dealt with unless they get hit by a bus or a spirit bomb?

How about you watch the damn show instead of askins retarded questions?

>asking
FTFM
It seems I'm retarded too.

> watch the damn show

But I'm reading the manga.

Anyone got webms ?

Too bad, because the show is better in pacing and atmosphere for the whole section it adapted.
Anyway just keep reading then. Nakamura's development is really really good; you shouldn't spoil yourself the novelty element.

So did they show the rape scene in the anime?

>The ending is just him realising that is ok to like something he does not understand
Not really. If anything, by understanding what he used to worship when he was a kid, he fully comes to terms with his past, a process that started when he began to read again after meeting Aya.

I don't know why pretentiousness is brought up so often when talking about the theme of the manga. That's one of the focal points of the first half, true, but even so there were also other important themes, such as loneliness. The second half on the other hand is all about the MC's redemption.

I hate the anime for making it impossible to talk about the manga without someone bringing up "muh rotoscope"

No, they didn't reach that part

Pretentiousness and true understanding.

>Rotoscoping
Another thing Japs don't know how to do.

Ok well thank you for letting me know.

The anime came out right before webms were introduced on the site so I don't think there's many around.

Nigger, the manga's been over for years now, no one would talk about it anyway if there hadn't been this fiasco of an anime.

I realize but it was worth a shot

Kino is a Sup Forums meme. Completely disregard.

It's boring, extremely boring.

Read the manga the other day and enjoyed it, glad I skipped the anime looking at the art.

I found it weird how he became obsessed with and went all edgy with Sawa though.

Literally the Evangelion of our times.

The OP made it worth it along with the classroom scene. Other than that, it was really boring, I was waiting for more cool scenes but they never came.

>hourly reminder

read the manga first!

Only read this recently so I missed out on the discussions, anyone else felt like the manga was kind average after the timeskip?

It was shit from ep 1 and killed the hope of Sup Forums in one swift moment.

Disappointing as fuck indeed. The whole Tokiwa-arc was just a normal teeanger love story.

I kinda treated it like the healing part of the manga, after all the shit he had to go through I really enjoyed it.
