Spent a month there a few years ago, it was very comfy, but I wouldn't live there. Prices boomed in Budapest in the past two years due to the huge influx of tourists/foreigners. A 40m2 apartment costs around 20-30 million Hungarian Forints, depending on its location and condition. The countryside and smaller towns/cities are obviously cheaper, and the Eastern part of the country is very cheap but it's infested with gypsies, the landscape is boring, salaries are even lower and there is nothing to do.
