Which one did it better?

Outlaw Star > Cowboy Bebop > Trigun

Gin Tama

Pokemon

Cowboy Bebop is more of a road movie.

I really don't get the appeal of Outlaw Star.

Outlaw star was a "meetoo" cashgrab on the popularity wave of bebop and trigun. Its shit.

Trigun is less a space western and more a regular western that happens to be on NOT earth

Space Dandy faggot

Fair enough, although it doesn't change the fact that Trigun has a more futuristic premise with all of the lost technology plotpoints. I guess Sci-Fi Western is the more proper term? Most people just group it up with Space Western.

Outlaw Star's animation was too spotty compared to Bebop. I liked the setting and it had a fun cast of characters, but it could have been better.
Bebop just has an extra layer of polish on it that he others don't.

Saber Rider or Brave Starr who did it better?

Bebop > Trigun >>>>>>>> Outlaw Star

I like them all for different reasons. I can't say which one's better. Basically:

CB: Space Noir
OS: Space Fantasy Adventure
Tri: Space Sci-fi Western

Gun x sword

Captain Harlock.
Fucking Plebs.
Outlaw Star is shit.

But he's a space pirate, doing space sailing.

>implying anything other than The Work Which Has Become A Genre Unto Itself...

Nice

Recently saw Outlaw Star. Is a weird show. The intro speeches for a lot of the episodes pretty much nails the romance of space and adventures. But then the episodes starts, and most of them are big fucking nothing. Self contained stories that most of the time have no story to tell. Almost Saturday morning cartoon tier of getting zero emotional payback for the amount of time being invested. Then few and far between we get some nice episodes that either gives a closer look to the characters, or develop them. But two of the characters are almost there just to be there (Suz, Ai) with none of their own character centric episodes.

OS could have been a great space western show, but in reality, is fucking potential wasted. Still I still like it, and love the things they did right.

Top episodes:
- Assassin loli being killed
- Duel between Gene and the old assassin
- Prison Escape

I wonder, except for nostalgia, what did you people like OS for?

She was my childhood waifu.

Outlaw Star is more about the setting than the plot, unfortunately. They make a pretty cool Universe that you don't see in a lot of anime. A place dominated by science, except on the fringes where there's powerful, scary magic. There was definitely a lot of wasted potential, but I still enjoyed my time with it.

This

Outlaw star is amazing in the fact that it had all the ingredients for a awesome anime but the final product after cooking it all together is very disappointing. Nailed it on the head.

If trigun had a proper anime adaptiation it might even give bebop a run for its money

Saber Rider. The changes made it seem like the team was being led by a really mellow guy who wasn't afraid to delegate or take a backseat role if necessary.

You can have both. Why must they be mutually exclusive?

They don't have to be, but it's still frustrating when you see something get so close to greatness for it to stumble.

Cowboy>Trigun>Outlaw
There was much to love in Outlaw. Too bad more than half of the episodes were just boring.

Spike>Gene>Faggot

Gonna throw it out there right now whilst the thread is still young.

If you say anything other than Bebop, then you are a pathetic contrarian shitlord and no-one is impressed by you and your hilarious need to feel special.

I'm gonna throw this out here right now: You're a fucking faggot.

>I'm not being contrarian, I actually am special

Out of the three shows in the OP I prefer Trigun, although that's mostly because I have a little bit of bias towards the source material. Cowboy Bebop isn't consistent in terms of actual good episodic stories, but the animation and art is definitely timeless.

Honestly, the competition is weak.

shit nigga, that's a 5 stars post

>what did you people like OS for?

Dumb looking space ships with arms.

CB > OS >>>>>>>>>>>>> T

>then you are a pathetic contrarian shitlord

Well that's Sup Forums for you.

Trigun was impossible to watch. The MC was way too beta.

I've seen all of these (including Gun x Sword) except Outlaw Star and of all those I like them but I probably enjoyed myself with Trigun the most.

This

Any cute girls?

Thats a long mecha dick.

Personally i think Cory Taihen did it better

Outlaw star predates cowboy bebop you idiot.

It was based on the manga dumbass.

...

Trigun was great because it was such a character driven show. Vash was a complicated, multidimensional character with a lot going on beneath the surface. He completely carried the show. It's my personal favourite

That being said Bebop had outstanding production values the others can't match. A lot of genius went into it, and it shows. Overall it's the superior because almost everything about it pops.

and Gun X Sword had everything needed to be a great goddamned show, Was incredibly enjoyable yet everyone ignored it. What the fuck was up with that?

Vash was a Ruronin kenshin ripoff, even got the no-kill thing down. Not impressed.

Outlaw Star 2/Sword of the Wind fucking never

LOGH.

Best one imo

If we're looking at these shows as westerns, Gun X Sword definitely nails the genre better than the others.

>Captain Harlock.
Albator is the absolute best.

>Any cute girls?

it's got some

The problem is that it's a decent setting (although vague and not really that unique), all the characters are the best of their class.
From the beginning, Gene has the best gun in the show, flying the best ship, with a master swordwoman and the cat girl is the strongest in the galaxy (as she won that fighting tournament), a unique android that can intergrate with the ship AND a fucking AI in the ship.
It's like playing a D&D game with everyone at max stats. Before that episode with the assassin with the backpack, you got the sense that there was more to the galaxy, more people, stronger people, full of legend and wonder. But no, the assassin guild is weak, the two brothers are mostly already on par with the heroes and they were considered legends already.

And by the time the show rushes to the end, it goes for the final mission. The 'save the world/galaxy' mission out of nowhere and it's rushed to shit.

The only people who like this show are nostalgiafags, people who really really like the opening and ignore the show, or just go DUUUUDE, SHIPS WITH FUCKING ARMS YOOO.

Whores.

I wish the show were more like the manga, although it would probably be too lewd for TV if that were the case.

Firefly got it right

>Assassin loli being killed
Like this episode for example. You get this melancholy vibe to it about this assassin girl just doing her job (lol who cares about her backstory, she has cats and loves them!) and she meets the mechanic kid and seems to have a semi cute childish romance with him. And at the end, the kid never finds out that she died or was the enemy.

And at the end of the episode, the only thing I can think of is WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT?
There's no message, no theme, nothing conveyed or told. Fucking nothing. You don't get an account of what made her become an assassin to make her death some semblance of pity. The mechanic kid never finds out so it doesn't affect him in any way, it doesn't move the plot except that the heroes end up killing one of the people seeking them out. You could've skipped the episode and lost nothing.
And yet, somehow, it's considered to be the best episode of the show.

So it's really not worth watching? I've tried like three times now and always end up getting bored by about ep 5.

The first ep always tricks me with how nice it looks.

God no, stay fucking far away. The entire show is a trap. The beginning is pretty decent and then becomes a complete bore. It's a waste of time to even watch that show.

Definetely fits the Space Western theme the most. Moreso than Bebop actually. Not to say that Bebop is a bad show, but not a better Space Western.

You're probably right. OS fans love being really vocal about how much better they think it is.

Cowboy Bebop felt more Noir than western, despite the name. Best of the three, though, by a considerable margin.

That guy is over reacting. Outlaw Star is a fine series despite not being particularly deep or meaningful. It does suffer from nostalgia goggles though.

>Outlaw Star is a fine series despite not being particularly deep or meaningful.
Meaning it's a piece of shit and not worth watching over another show in your backlog.

...

Did this show touch you inappropriately as a child? You're embarrassing yourself by shitflinging when nobody else is at that level.

Perhaps that user's waifu was that loli assassin.

cowboy bebop -kino
trigun -cinema
outlaw star -film

more adventure than the other two

I'm balancing the scale from people who overpraise it.

I mean you're right, but you didn't have to be such a fag about it, jeez. I like all those series fine and bebop just happens to be my favorite.

You realize cinema is just an aged word for movie theater, right? Wait wait wait, you didn't take the Sup Forums meme seriously did you? You wouldn't do something so stupid, right? I mean, everyone know you're not supposed to take Sup Forums seriously.

realize kino is the same thing right?

>aged
Lost it.
