OP pls listen, I actually know how to do this.

1. The key is you have to affirm positive experiences, actively choose them, rather than try to "fight" depression. Depression is the absence of activity so that you feel drained and negative all the time. You have to affirm the sort of internal experiences you want to have. You have to consciously learn how to guide your experience.

I know that might sound a bit "psychological" but it's true. The "abyss" of depression can always get closer to Zero. You have to positively affirm real goals and values.

I don't watch porn, but I found out REALLY quickly that being at a uni can get really boring really fast, so I'm going to be a wageslave too in order to avoid the "absence of activity"

Exercise. Have a positive attitude. Eat healthy. Stop watching porn. Stop smoking weed and drinking. Stop trying to live up to your stupid expectations.

user. Not being depressed is like deciding to run a marathon, you can’t just get up one day and do it.

Like training for a marathon, you must work on excercises that fight drepression ( working out, being more social, ANYTHING THAT GIVES YOU PURPOSE).

At first the effort comes in short spurts, and it is mostly painful. But like your marathon training, overtime you build more and resilency and push the depression down.

Depression physically changes how your brain works and once you are stuck in it, you must physically change your brain back to thinking normally. The effort is hard and long, but totally possible and once you emerge, you won’t even understand how you were once depressed.

Better than any SSRI that some doc wants to feed you, go out tomorrow, find an activity that has meaning to you, that gives you purpose, and throw yourself into it.

user, you have discover the causes of your depression. It's different for everyone.
I suggest going to a support group for awhile and seeing what you find out about yourself.

Find a passion. For me, it's work. I don't notice I'm sad if I'm distracted by projects at work. Plus, money helps numb it, at least for a bit. Yeah, I'd honestly just say material goods. Cars, watches, expensive alcohol.

Depends why you're depressed. Did something happen or is it a medical problem? If it's a medical problem trust your doctor when it comes to meds, if you don't like how they work try a different kind and repeat until you're able to do these other things that help.

First things first when you're depressed shit sucks and you can't and don't want to do anything so fix your sleep schedule. Get up the same time daily, no exceptions and get your 8 hours. This is the easiest way to start helping yourself. Next is showing every morning and putting on clean clothes. Do it daily. Next is making sure you're drinking water. Next is going for short walks or getting outside or doing some kind of exercise, take the dog for a walk, meditation etc. Do these things daily and work up to them slowly. Then from there plan the life changes you may need to make that are at the root of your depression.

Clearly I'm not a doctor, I am bipolar. For me there are no life changes sort of getting back on schedule and once I do, in combination with meds I start to feel normal again.
