>DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON THE CHURCH >LUMEN GENTIUM Clearly states it is dogmatic.
Quote: >But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind. Very clearly claims that Christians and muslims worship the same god. No way to deny it unless you resort to semantic perversions and handwaving rationalizations.
This is a heresy, and since the heresy is proclaimed dogmatically, this makes the church internally inconsistent and falsifies all claims of being the one true church.
Therefore Catholicism is a false religion QED

Why did Jesus name Simon "Peter"? A common misconception is that Jesus gave this name to Simon Peter right after his confession that Jesus is "the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Mt. 16:16), but actually Jesus gave him this name without explanation at their first meeting: >He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter). (Jn. 1:42) Only after Simon Peter's confession does Jesus reveal why he gave him this name: >Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter" (Mt. 16:17-18) In Aramaic/Hebrew, Simon is a name meaning "hear/listen", so by adding Cephas/Peter to it (which means "rock"), Simon Peter's name takes on the meaning "heard the Rock", that is "heard God" (in the Old Testament the Rock is one of the names for God). So when Jesus goes on to say: >"and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Mt. 16:18) He is referring to God (himself) as the foundation for his Church.

What is the Church? The word that is translated into English as "church" is ἐkkλησία (ekklesia) in the original Greek, which means "the called out ones" or "the assembly of the called out ones", it does not mean your man-made Papist institution. Who are "the called out ones"? Right after Simon Peter's confession, Jesus declares to him that "flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven" (Mt. 16:17), and similarly during the Bread of Life discourse, Jesus says: >No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (Jn. 6:44) So "the called out ones" are the ones that God has drawn to confess that Jesus is Lord and these are the ones who will have eternal life: >because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Rom. 10:9-19) What are the "gates of hell" (Mt. 16:18)? In the original Greek this phrase appears as πύλαι ᾅδου (pylai hadou), which more accurately translates as the "gates of Hades", that is the "gates of death". So the Rock is Jesus, and the faith and confession that he is "the Christ, the Son of the living God", which is only possible for those whom God the Father has called out and drawn to himself ("the church"), and against these the "gates of death" will not prevail, that is, they will have eternal life.

8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

I'm old. Was brought up in the Latin Church before V2. Knowing that the Mass was being performed the same way all over the world 24 hours a day meant a lot to me. Sure, as a kid I didn't understand Latin, but kids learn languages fast and I got the idea. Even stupid kids did, with the music and the et cum Spiritu tuos. Losing Latin was a huge fucking tragedy.

I am a hardcore believer in the /x/ side of Christianity. I believe God is active in the world through the Church, and so I totally believe accounts of miracles, healings, and apparitions. I believe that Holy Mother Mary has more than once deigned to visit us on Earth to reveal the truth of the Gospel and the true inheritance of the Church as God's instrument in this world.
So, yes, I totally take Marian apparitions seriously. God seems to like to make use of servants, both those living and those in the next life. His Mother is his most powerful intercessor, and she is sent to us for a reason.

Just for you. Council of Florence (1441): >The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the "eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41), unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church. But now according to the dogmatic constitution on the Church from Vatican II, the plan of salvation includes Muslims who believe the following: >People of the Book, do not go to excess in your religion, and do not say anything about God except the truth: the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was nothing more than a messenger of God, His word, directed to Mary, a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not speak of a 'Trinity'—stop, that is better for you—God is only one God, He is far above having a son, everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Him and He is the best one to trust. (Qur'an, sura 4 "An-Nisa", ayat 171)

Hey wait a minute, this is what you're doing. I don't know if you're joking or not, but just in case you didn't know: that isn't a quote from St. Augustine, it's a quote from Mein Kampf, except they switched out "Jews" with "heretics".

Vatican 2 cannot be interpreted independently, and it is not a "fresh start," as certain crazy priests and bishops (and now cardinals) would like it to be. The ONLY valid interpretation of Vatican 2 is one which is consistent with the other great councils of the Church, including Trent, Florence, and others going all the way back to Nicaea. There is no independent interpretation of Vatican 2. Marking it as a fresh start would make it not Catholic.
Ryder Harris

"Catholic" mean universal. I just think that there will never be a Universal church (for everyone) again. There was nothing special about Latin, it could have been Greek or French or German, or even English. But the Church, the litergy, should be the same everywhere. So you can walk into any Church and get the same message.
But that's just my personal opinion. I liked it that way.

The only problem with looking for angels and apparitions is what may take their guise. I used to be fairly skeptical about the /x/ elements (but not God nor the Church itself), but gave them a Pasacal's wager. When I discovered the demon-worship of my spiritual opponents, the skepticism vanished. For goodness sake, Hillary talked about sacrificing a chicken to moloch in her leaked email. How does it not terrify people that there are those in this country, and not basement dwellers, but powerful people, performing rituals for named demons? God save us all.

Did you read this or was it "interpreted" for you? Since you explain you're not skeptical about God or the Church, you undermine your own position as someone who can check for facts reliably.
This is a load of crap. Do you know there is such a thing as Ethiopian Saints? Or a Church? Why make a screencap with a lot of out of context and outright misinterpreted verses?

Above all else, I trust in the Church. I've actually personally experienced a few supernatural occurrences. My guideline for them is to put them to the test of Catholicism. Are they in line with the teachings of the Church? If they are, they're divine, and should be listened to. If not, they're demonic, or from some alien power, and they're to be distrusted.
That's why the only Marian apparitions to pay attention to are those approved by the Church. Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe, those are the big three. The Church has dubbed them worthy of belief, so we should believe them, and heed what the Blessed Virgin has to say in each of them. And, always, you can test a miraculous happening against the Church's teachings. If the miracle is contrary to what the Church teaches, it's suspicious. But if it conforms, it's truly divine.
Jayden Flores
Evolutionary, the one God concept probably come from a will to marry one cult with the state, so that the state may have stability. States with a multireligious people are less stable.
But theologically, one God as a creator of all instead of a multitude of Gods (Order) that were born out of Chaos (Disorder), is reasoned to make sense of the basis of authority.
If you were never told there was only one God that created everything, you'd never arrive at that conclusion on your own. It's too big of a concept, because we only see the little world around us.
Charles Young

it can still be disproved tho, science is rather fragile. it all boils down to politics as usual. culture and religion are one and the same, and if we check history we can see how the original culture got replaced, for better or worse that is debatable.

>and others going all the way back to Nicaea At the Council of Ephesus, canon 7 states regarding the Nicene Creed: >[ ] it is unlawful [ ] to bring forward, or to write, or to compose a different [ ] Faith as a rival to that established by the [ ] Fathers assembled [ ] in Nicæa. [ ] those who [ ] compose a different faith, or to introduce or offer it to persons desiring to turn to the acknowledgment of the truth, whether from Heathenism or from Judaism, or from any heresy whatsoever, shall be deposed, if they be bishops or clergymen; [ ] and if they be laymen, they shall be anathematized. [ ] Then the Pope unilaterally changed the Nicene Creed by adding the Filioque. So from the Roman Catholic perspective the Pope absolutely has the authority to contradict an infallible teaching of the Church, thus superseding it. If you don't like that, the Orthodox Church is waiting for you to come home.
