The word that is translated into English as "church" is ἐkkλησία (ekklesia) in the original Greek, which means "the called out ones" or "the assembly of the called out ones", it does not mean your man-made Papist institution. Who are "the called out ones"? I'm old. Was brought up in the Latin Church before V2. Knowing that the Mass was being performed the same way all over the world 24 hours a day meant a lot to me. I am a hardcore believer in the /x/ side of Christianity. I believe God is active in the world through the Church, and so I totally believe accounts of miracles, healings, and apparitions. I believe that Holy Mother Mary has more than once deigned to visit us on Earth to reveal the truth of the Gospel and the true inheritance of the Church as God's instrument in this world.
So, yes, I totally take Marian apparitions seriously. God seems to like to make use of servants, both those living and those in the next life. His Mother is his most powerful intercessor, and she is sent to us for a reason.

Vatican 2 cannot be interpreted independently, and it is not a "fresh start," as certain crazy priests and bishops (and now cardinals) would like it to be. The ONLY valid interpretation of Vatican 2 is one which is consistent with the other great councils of the Church, including Trent, Florence, and others going all the way back to Nicaea. There is no independent interpretation of Vatican 2. Marking it as a fresh start would make it not Catholic.

There was nothing special about Latin, it could have been Greek or French or German, or even English. But the Church, the litergy, should be the same everywhere. So you can walk into any Church and get the same message.

Above all else, I trust in the Church. I've actually personally experienced a few supernatural occurrences. My guideline for them is to put them to the test of Catholicism. Are they in line with the teachings of the Church? If they are, they're divine, and should be listened to. If not, they're demonic, or from some alien power, and they're to be distrusted.
That's why the only Marian apparitions to pay attention to are those approved by the Church. Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe, those are the big three. The Church has dubbed them worthy of belief, so we should believe them, and heed what the Blessed Virgin has to say in each of them. And, always, you can test a miraculous happening against the Church's teachings. If the miracle is contrary to what the Church teaches, it's suspicious. But if it conforms, it's truly divine.
