Let's keep in mind that NK is their little proxy nation they use to keep America off its doorstep. We've always been at odds with China and that probably isn't going to change any time soon.
With that being said, I do personally think they are all talk and wouldn't actually back NK unless they actually thought they could win. I'm not really worried to much about their nukes because I believe we've already developed anti-nuke weaponry to shoot them down or whatever (I could be wrong though, but we have some crazy weaponry being developed.)
With that being said, it's no surprise that Russia/China are definitely our biggest competitors right now and that taking them out and splitting them into smaller nations would be in our best benefit.
We could always support the notion of forming a federation between South Korea, Japan, Philippines, etc. That could effectively neuter a lot of problems within that area of the world.
