I sometimes wonder how modern Sup Forums would respond to older anime if it was airing today. Like would Higurashi just be spammed with >edgy? I also notice anons don't do >vlc as much as we used to. I guess times change?

It's a mixture of VLC, while note being the best, not being as bad as it used to be, and just being thankful it's not a screencap of a stream. CR and Funi have seriously lowered the barrier of entry to watching anime as it comes out.

I always feel bad thinking about how the worst parts of modern Sup Forums would treat Azumanga.

I mean, RS07 said himself that he was riding on the Tsukihime wave and wanted to cash in on shock value, so edgy could be a fair description. I imagine that people would just bitch about anime only fags as they do right now. Speaking of which read the VN if you haven't already.

Are you implying Higurashi was bad? I think its an awesome anime with great rewatchability. Everytime you rewatch it you pick up on more finer things. This anime ages like wine.

The anime itself is terribly animated and skips most of what makes the VN (Or SN for those who are particular) great.

It isn't as if trainwreck always refers to something bad. Code Geass is considered a trainwreck because of how crazy it got, even though people here undoubtedly like it.

I felt by 06 we were out of the worst of the early digital era. Either way, the QUALITY in Higurashi is legendary in any context.

I liked Higurashi.
It gave us Kira; which gave us Rika rubbing her ass against the window.
Truly, a grand show.

Depends how faithful an adaptation it is, considering Moe has become more popular since I imagine we'd get a more faithful adaptation.

And I don't recall Gakkou Gurashi getting labeled edgy even though it relied on shock value much more.

just started this show last night, got one episode in then life happened.

Kaku was more of a movie.

There's apparently a tip that explains that she went crazy once and tried to kill because of jealousy over K1. I don't remember seeing the tip in the PC version so I'm assuming it's one of the ones added in the console version.

Would have been nice to see though, considering her military training and access to weapons.

Like, what's the point of it? After the shock factor of killer lolis and the sealing deal of the old god being a fucking loli,, I just stopped following it all together.

What is this based on?

It's the Drama CD, a fun little side story as long as you like the slice of Life bits from Higurashi.

Problem with the anime was that they did everything they could to avoid any kind of buildup or suspense. Once you were past the first episode, they basically told you well in advance what was going on, so there weren't any scenes that were very surprising.

The anime OP's were fantastic.

People can say whatever they want about the show itself, but that first OP is fucking perfect.

Having read the whole manga and 5 hours of the visual novel.
I'll say that the anime it's self was a servicable adaptation, but it skipped out on a lot of the characters and a few important scenes.

Still my favourite series of all time though.
