Why are rooms in anime always devoided of any modern technology like PC, consoles or any of that stuff?

Why are rooms in anime always devoided of any modern technology like PC, consoles or any of that stuff?

I live in 3rd world country and even I have PC, consoles etc in my room and Japan is supposed to be 1st world country. What do kids there do with their free time?

Because Anime isn't Japan?

They have phones for that. Less than a third of Japanese children even use PCs.

>What do kids there do with their free time?

Study.

just see for yourself.

Would this room have the same comfy vibe without the features that make us enjoy the it in the first place? Probably not.

Also

But you have to have at least on PC in house for work, school etc since everything these days is done through it. When I was in high school I was forced to make Facebook account just to get all the homework etc because they always posted that on Facebook.

>Soviet games
Is this a sequel to that shit VN about russian summer camps?

Not in Japan. All assignments are handwritten, just like in anime.

>According to a survey result published by the Cabinet Office in February [2015] on the issue of Internet use among youth, as many as 89 percent of high school students indicated that they used smartphones, while 30 percent said that they utilized laptops, and a mere 16 percent answered that they used desktop computers.

Arcades are still big in Japan, they also don't really use PCs for gaming. And if anime is anything to go by, Japanese students actually use school libraries.

I don't know I find that picture while I tipped "anime rooms" in Google and that one seemed most appropriate.

You haven't seen a lot of anime, have you? Plenty of kids in anime have technology in their rooms.

There are a lot of newer anime with characters using modern tech stuff like smartphones or the latest console games. I think technology is mostly just left out to keep the rooms simpler and easier to draw from multiple angles.

Also, can this be a comfy anime/manga room/interior topic now?

That seems strange for developed country like Japan although I would also prefer something like that to having everything posted on Facebook because I hate that place.

I watched shit ton of anime and in most of them kids don't even have TV or PC let alone console or something like that.

Made me remember that scene in Tanaka-kun when they were surprised because some chick knew how to use a word processor

What are you talking about?

The idea that "computer skills" are a thing never caught on. Most ordinary Japanese households don't have a single PC. They have smartphones, gaming consoles, and hentai manga if you need porn. Offices still use fax machines.
Part of it is that Japan's economy hasn't grown since the mid-90s. Their GDP and number of workers is the same as it was then.

Knowing how to use a real keyboard is a talent that will impress your schoolmates in Japan.

More importantly, do nips actually use flip-phones?

Sliders >>> flip-phones, but naturally nips have shit taste even there.

Must be freezing in there during winter.

Not any more.

They were the most popular until android and applel came around.

That's the other thing- no central heat or insulation in Japanese homes.
Now you understand why the kotatsu is so important.

Why waste money and electricity on a kotatsu instead of proper isolation?

...

Anime isn't Japan. I stayed with a family in Nagoya for a week and they had a fair bit of tech. Kid had a laptop and parents both had smartphones. I think it's more like they have their priorities straight. You can do a whole lot on a smartphone nowadays. Besides maybe typing up papers, there's nothing a non-techie needs to do that can't be done on a smartphone. I also found that there's actually interesting shit to do when going out unlike in America, so there's free time covered.

Keep in mind that this is the same country that produces $200+ turbo-enthusiast keyboards.

If their houses had insulation, those japs would be roasted come summer.

Insulation keeps your house cool in summer.

This
>Asians
>free time

>89 percent of high school students indicated that they used smartphones, while 30 percent said that they utilized laptops, and a mere 16 percent answered that they used desktop computers.
>smartphones
Normalfaggotry of the highest order, why is everyone who's not old enough to remember what they were doing on the millennium so disgusting?

>Normal people are normal
What an astonishing revelation!

>Insulation keeps your house cool in summer.
Until the heat builds up inside then it's hot as fuck and takes days to cool down.

>Besides maybe typing up papers, there's nothing a non-techie needs to do that can't be done on a smartphone.
How do people live with tiny screens?

I assume it's got to do with regular earthquakes there. Insulation would mean heavier walls and roof, often requiring outer leaf, inner leaf and a cavity.

Not to mention it's a fucking pain to keep moisture out of the insulation panels.

There is literally nothing wrong with keeping a portable computer in your pocket at all times.

Smartphones are the very symbol of normalfaggotry though, for people who think the internet is their favorite propaganda news site, facebook, twitter and maybe reddit. Screen size, power and OS is nothing short of a compromise. Why do you even leave your computer anyway?

At least get a decent sized tablet.

>Why do you even leave your computer anyway?
I don't. I keep my laptop in my bag and my phone in my pocket.

>At least get a decent sized tablet.
Tablets are good for literally nothing but manga.

See

>What do kids there do with their free time?
>free time
Hah

The Japanese only build for 20-30 years, generally speaking, and it's very market driven. Thin walls are standard for low-rise construction.

>What do kids there do with their free time?
Play outside and socialize, like kids should.

Because the story is being written by old people that didn't have these things. Anime from the future will for sure have them.

But by then you'll have another underage like OP making this same thread why current anime room isn't like his.

>PC
I chuckled.

>They have phones for that. Less than a third of Japanese children even use PCs.
this, Japanese are generally computer illiterate. They can handle email because they've done it on their clamshell keitai since forever, but thats it.

>a different culture is different from ours
Someone needs to get CNN on this.

>Japanese are generally computer illiterate
So like every normalfag in all country?

Adding a computer to that room or a desk with a device wouldn't add more complexity to it, drawing all those tiny details from different angles would cost more effort.

I did say nips do it to make it more comfy or their anti neet shit.

>Knowing how to use a real keyboard is a talent that will impress your schoolmates in Japan.
I'd be some sort of God there, my parents think I am some sort of Wizard because I type so fast.

Because old people are still on top and they decide what kids have in their room.

It makes me sad that even a monkey can't imagine living or having fun without a computer or a video game.

Uh, no. Even japanese programmers themselves are stupid and unnecessarily old-fashioned. It's definitively not like this in many western first world countries.

Code monkey and stupid programmer are exist in every corner of the world, what's your point.

western developers evolve over time because they have time to do non hamster work. Japanese devs are mostly corporate wage slaves working themselves into soulless husks only capable of showing emotion after downing a pair of beers at a nomihodai

I've worked with these guys, most of them barely have the energy to do anything but exactly whats required of them

When i lived in Tokyo a french flatmate of mine who also worked as a dev, but unfortunate enough to work at a japanese company, officially quit job at 5, but his manager told him successful people quit at 10..

What will you do in life if your not on internet or playing games?

They do in the future

Ending sucked to this, best girl didn't win :/

>Starship Operators
fuck i miss that show

Aon, please, redpill me on why that VN is shit.

And yeah, that VN is supposed to be a spiritual successor or some shit.

Japanese people are notoriously inept at using technology. A BIG portion of Japan barely knows how to use a computer. However, they do know how to use a phone.
Most things are still written by hand.

>what is air conditioning?

>there's actually interesting shit to do when going out unlike in America

Like what? I say this as a bored burger who has nothing to do outside except spend money at a bar or restaurant.

Other user, you dont even need air conditioning, just open your fucking windows man.

This. I fucking hate air conditioning. Everyone here spams it so you need a jacket indoors. I don't use air conditioning and am neither sweaty nor dead. Just let your body acclimate you fucking pussy ass fatasses. My summers were regularly 95 with 100% fucking humidity.

small wonder why their economy is stagnating then

>Shop for weebshit
>Spend absurd amounts of cash on a crane machine
>Hit the arcade and play rhythm games
>Nature and shit
>Eat shit
>Show-related events

I'm jelly of how beautiful Japan is compared to my country

Kirino had a laptop and eroge

That's all stupid, except nature, we have plenty of that being that our nation is like 100 times the size of nippon.

Clean too. You would think Tokyo would be dirty as shit but it's probably the cleanest I've ever seen a city.

You say that about rythem games again and I'll fuck you up m8.

>You would think Tokyo would be dirty as shit but it's probably the cleanest I've ever seen a city.
That's because of the old people who are out 5 in the morning picking up litter

Enjoy your bugs.

thats the problem. you have to drive everywhere for hours, compared to countries in europe and japan where it is all very condensed.

I mean, if you stay in your room all day fucking loser. And even then, only hot air will come in and not enough breeze you fat fuck

I walk and bike commute, and if I need to go further there's a rail. I can even reach hiking spots with a combo of that. Sure it's cager oriented but it isn't some apocalyptic nightmare. I live a one mile walk from downtown. Maybe you're forgetting how sprawling tokyo is? Or that europe has height limits preventing condensing too much.

Compared to europe that doesn't even have woods.

That room looks like it gets super fucking cold in the winter.

PC ownership has never been overly common in Japan. It's why VNs exist, they're designed to run on toasters.

Are you saying that the Japanese are Pajeet-tier?

>A BIG portion of Japan barely knows how to use a computer.
A BIG portion of Japan is also over 60 years old.

>The Japnoos secretly are and have always been a backward, primitive people with a really good attitude

Why would you want PC in this day and age when you can do everything on your smartphone and tablet?

>it's a DUUUDE I JUST WATCHED THIS VICE DOCUMENTARY thread

This is true, and not because the country is full of old people but because of how good Japanese phones were. Youngsters are rarely given computer classes. I read blogs of people who works as teachers in Japan and they had PCs abandoned in storages because they dropped the classes due to lack of interest and they had some students ask what the hell were those.

Mobile phones in Japan have always been way ahead of west and many things smartphones just recently picked up have been available in Japanese-only phone brands for ages already, like internet connection and payment methods, so people just learned how to use a phone and called it a day.

Now that foreigner smartphones are widely available in Japan and they do the same stuff in a sleek looking phone with a cool brand plastered on it Japanese brands are having a hard time surviving (even if they cost a lot more, Japanese brands are super cheap). Funny how you see this trend even in anime, all anime produced the last 3 or 4 years shows foreigner smartphones more often than Japanese ones.

>All these fags berating others for using smartphones

I don't get it. All I ever do is read manga online when Im on the go and shitpost on Sup Forums. Why do I need a desktop for that? I only need that for research papers, essays, and interactive assignments for university. Explain you elitist niggers.

I use multiple word documents and excel sheets on the daily, many of those documents are the size of a novel. Try running art software or torrents on a phone. There's the fact I currently have twenty tabs open and it helps to see images in something like 800x800, not fucking phone res. Sometimes I run multiple browsers at once for different purposes. I have six different programs running at the moment.

Yeah, tell me what a phone can do.

God damn I can barely post on Sup Forums using a phone, the keyboard is ass and even browing websites is a pain in the fucking ass.

>even browsing websites is a pain in the fucking ass.
To be fair, a lot of that is due to unimaginably shitty web design. My 3 year old smartphone can't load modern websites for shit because of their awful bloat.

>bloat.

Don't I know it. And that's why my laptop browser is equipped with multiple kills for extraneous garbage. Ads and scripts and referrals and oh my.

Of course I'm a filthy casual laptop user, but you know fuck desktops, can't move 'em and they spew a ton of heat and eat a ton of room. Laptop is like the golden area between mobile and useful.

>How do people live with tiny screens?
by having tiny eyes

>word documents
>Excel
>Art Software
>Torrents

Do you not know how to read? I only ever use the internet for Sup Forums, porn and manga. I don't need that so it makes no sense to berate me for not using it. Also I can run multiple apps and have 30 tabs open all at once with few problems on my phone. Im not saying smartphones are better at all but you're shitting on others with the assumption that they do the same things you do.

And most sites have a mobile version that's easy and smooth to use. Keyboards work too, you're just used to using a mouse and the conventional keyboard. Also your phone has trouble opening 800×800 images? I have 2 of those opened right now. Man what shitty device do you use?

>Laptop is like the golden area between mobile and useful.
This, especially if you can afford to buy the better ones that have as much processing power as gaming desktops.

I guess the only thing with laptops is that you can't assemble them like you can with desktops.

Its easy and not a struggle to see things. You're just used to having a desktop with a large screen.

What I want to know is why is it that if they have a game system in their room or even in their living room it's almost always some old Nintendo or Famicom?

...

I still play Metal Gear Solid and Bully on my PS2. Why the fuck not? Although mines on the verge of falling apart.

People say that Japs can't use computers, but when I worked in Japan every one of my coworkers had a desktop and laptop at their workstation. I never got any hint that they had difficulty using modern technology, and I never saw anyone using a fax machine.

Also, Japs love smartphones. Step onto a train and everyone under the age of 50 is fiddling with their iPhone or Android.

PS2 is WAY newer than Famicom.

Underrated post.

>Step onto a train and everyone under the age of 50 is fiddling with their iPhone or Android.
Is it just my bad memory of traveling there, or do they mostly do this without earphones in? It seemed like they don't listen to music as much while on their phones, which is the norm in the west.

Are slutty gyaru JKs an actual thing in japan? What about lonely OLs? Do they really hate gaijins?

>Are slutty gyaru JKs an actual thing in japan?
Only in the big city, you can buy anything in Tokyo. I lived out in a suburb, so the JKs were pretty tame. They do like wearing short skirts year around though.
>What about lonely OLs?
Pretty much, it's a lonely country. One of my OL coworkers was a fujoshi who would talk about Touken Ranbu and Legend of the Galactic Heroes at lunch.
>Do they really hate gaijins?
No, nobody gives a damn.

Computer is not photogenic.
That's all.
