One of the reasons I like this series is because Helck and Vamirio are genuinely good partners. They respect each other, they talk about their problems without bullshit drama and even though Helck is so obviously superior combat wise, Vamirio still keeps up with him. Like here, where they team up against the golem rather than having Helck do everything.

Not just that but they're both legitimately great characters precisely because they're both extremely reasonable and relatable personality-wise and are capable of conversing and interacting in a mature fashion that's informative without coming across as needless exposition. Normally I start to snooze when two characters drone on about the plot but every long conversation they've held between eachother felt very natural and compelling because of their somewhat complex but extremely entertaining relationship.
I also have to wonder if anything is going to come out of Roccoco and that pissant fire mage, I hated him at first but it's really hard not to feel for all the humans that have clearly been dragged through hell to obtain their power. Even their method of becoming stronger demands a heavy deal of suffering.
