>"I havent watched it yet because the characters/art look kinda weird"
"I havent watched it yet because the characters/art look kinda weird"
is it not okay to enjoy things selectively based on a personal preference?
No you have to conform to Sup Forums's standards.
its not
I refuse to watch/play Clannad because of this, it looks awful
>the visual aspect of this particular work from a visual media doesn't appeal to me so i won't watch/read it
I know OP, I just cannot understand it, truly a mystery for the ages.
...
To be fair, the artstyle makes me really want to throw up. The bright colors being fucking everywhere makes me feel dizzy.
>I haven't watched it yet because it is over 10000 episodes
Replace watch with read and you have the main reason why people never gave the best shounen a chance
You're crazy. Mononoke has great art.
>imfuckingplying i'd volunteer to watch more hiraiface
Not saying it was garbage, but its literally painful for me to watch.
Sounds like a problem on your end, buddy
>literally painful
Are you saying it gave you seizures or something? I don't get it. Maybe try taking some shrooms or LSD?
Totally forgot about this pleb filter when I was making my pleb filter list. Thanks OP.
Like I said, its nausea-inducing.
I wish all anime had art like Aku no Hana.
You're not missing much.
That's strange. Maybe try watching it on a real 24hz display? The issue could be how your media player displays it on a 60hz monitor. I think jitter would look especially weird with the types of motions used a lot in Mononoke. It's kind of like a stage play, lots of doors sliding so it would look horrible if you have jitter issues.
Medium based on visual design
It looks like shit
Don't watch it
Kill yourself back to your subreddit you fucktard.
In /ck/ term, it's called "picky eater".
it took me forever to watch clannad because of their giant am I kawaii uguu style
such a great anime I bet a lot of people pass up for the same reason
I generally won't watch anything made in the late 90s/early 2000s because it is so visually unappealing. This isn't a hard rule, just a trend.
>weak colors
>massive amounts of light bloom
>huge chins
>I didn't watch the show but fapped multiple times to the character
I do that a lot, mostly with Moe series
You haven't tried it yet, how do you know you won't like it? There are plenty of aesthetics in anime i've seen where I thought I wouldn't like it but had it eventually grow on me, or alternatively aesthetics that I didn't like but the series was amazingly written so I didn't give a fuck.
Visual aesthetic is by and large the least important element of an anime.
/thread
depends on the doujin artist really
>painful for me to watch
>for me
Danganronpaparoach
>Visual aesthetic is by and large the least important element of an anime.
What the fucking hell am I reading?
Some retard trying to sound smart
>Visual aesthetic is by and large the least important element of an anime
Oh wow
>Plot and characters are less important than visuals!
not playing higurashi because of this
I saw the anime anyway
idol shit for me
I get that everyone has their own opinions and tastes over the artstyle of a show, but I honestly just cant justify someone skipping good shows like Kaiji, Mononoke, Kaiba, and Ping Pong because "the characters look 'weird'"
>inb4but those anime are shit
yes yes those anime are shit every anime is shit my favorites are shit and so are yours etc.
It's an audiovisual medium, user. You're not an anime master for dismissing one of the two advantages it has over novels as "the least important element", nor are you for valuing characterization and plot highly.
Anyone who thinks any art is "weird" is a complete and utter pleb.
I'm not dismissing visuals entirely, all i'm saying is that it shouldn't be the basis for skipping out on a series.
Some of my favorite anime look like complete garbage but most still have great visual direction (Something you can't tell just from a quick look at its artstyle), so I really don't think it makes sense to dismiss a series based solely on its aesthetic.
That's what I thought about JoJo first, now I'm a huge Josephfag.
That's fine and I agree with you, but please don't say shit like "Visual aesthetic is by and large the least important element of an anime".
First of all, it's blatantly fucking wrong. Anime can excel in many dimensions. I'm sure no one is praising Redline for its in-depth study of character, just like no one is praising Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu for its breathtaking animation.
Second of all, when phrased thusly, it makes it sound like it's totally unimportant to you, which further hurts the point you were trying to make- because no matter its relevant importance, it is still important.
Fair enough.
I just wanted to make the point that an anime can still be enjoyed even if it doesn't have an aesthetic you completely enjoy and that you can still "enjoy things selectively based on a personal preference" like the user I replied to had said, just that you should try to watch it before making the call that you wont enjoy it just because it looks weird. My phrasing sounds a little snooty and pretentious in hindsight though, which is my bad.
to-love-ru in a nutshell for me
Your waifu is shit as well, don't forget that
In /ck/ terms what you are defending is called "eating shit"
Am currently watching Clannad. Am 9 episodes in.
I hate it. I hate the aesthetic. I hate the character designs.
The VN art I'll give you but the anime art is pretty standard, dunno what would deter you from enjoying it
I dont think I ever see people ever hate on this manga though.
