Hopefully not much. Kamimi should serve the same dynamic Kamina does, as the older sibling figure for Simon. Eventual death leads to Simon's breakdown. Then the show proceeds as normal. She would probably scream about inner strength rather than manliness.

Female Kamina has a great cancelar of NOT DYING. Why?

Kamina died trying to incentive Simon after him having a breakdown over feeling that Yoko rejected him for his Aneki. Such rejection made Simon unnable to take control of the Dai-Ganzan in the first try, which in turn caused Kamina sacrifice.

If Kamina is a woman, there is no involvement with Yoko, no sudden lost of self steem, and also high chances that a hormonal teenager like Simon would be head over heels OVER Kamina first instead of Yoko. All of this lower the chances of Kamina dying...which in turn...would change everything.

IF Kamina had the same personalitty and was gender swaped, I believe that the resultant character could probably help with both aspects. It all would depend on how Simon would see Kamina.
