Now that the dust has settled I think we can all agree that this manga turned into an utter pile of shite at some point. Just a waste of everyone's time quite frankly.
Has there ever been another series with such a disparity in quality from how it started to how it ended?
WSJ poll maybe? I mean, that's how Nura got kicked, right? Nura's pacing is better than Kubo's time-wasting.
Bentley James
...
Dylan Richardson
What if there's mirror universe of Bleach?
Tyler Mitchell
Honestly I expect it was Kubo arguing with his editors too much combined with the poll numbers. He has never had a good relation with jump, and they are better off without each other.
Jason Foster
>Now that the dust has settled I think we can all agree that this manga turned into an utter pile of shite at some point. Just a waste of everyone's time quite frankly. Quality dropped, yeah, but IMO no by so much. Can't think of a wildest ride in a manga.
Sebastian Torres
>I think we can all agree that this manga turned into an utter pile of shite at some point. The cracks were showing up in HM arc but came to a head with all the Fake Karakura Town bullshit. That was when the manga went into freefall never to return
Christopher Barnes
This entire chart is completely mitigated by how completely bullshit the series became by the end. See the thing about a wild ride is that it's only a wild ride if it actually stays wild until the end and not actually just be complete ass
For example, that "OH SHIT TWO ZANPAKUTO" thing seems hype until you look back and realize he only used the damn things like once in an entire 2 year period (not to mention they don't actually do anything different except let him shoot two sword beams)
Then there's that entire thing with Unohana which at the time looks awesome but then you look back and realize that Kenpachi didn't win a single fight legitimately on his own after that so she basically died for nothing
And let's not forget OH SHIT BYAKUYA GOES DOWN/TOSHIRO IS KILL but wait no they're not.
Ian Butler
Ah I forgot to add one more point, I think this is best summed up by how that damn chart never even got finished. All those other gaijin reaction charts at least got to the end but nobody even wants to do that last one because the arc and story sucked so bad.
People kept asking "when's someone gonna finish the chart" but nobody even bothered
Elijah Reed
>He has never had a good relation with jump I don't think he has a good relationship with his editor or assistants either. In his latest interview, he told inspiring mangakas not to listen to everything their editors tell them to do because they'll have regrets and admitted that he isn't that close to his assistants, they go home immediately after they're done.
Jace Morales
>And so, the blade has... >Death & Strawberry >...The End What did Kubo-sensei mean by this?
Aiden Nguyen
You got what you deserved. You should've dropped the series after the Aizen arc like normal people instead of bothering to read it up to the ending. Kubo said that the fullbringer arc would be the last arc yet you thought they would still have a non-shit ending when it had arcs afterwards.
Are you not entertained?
Lincoln Nguyen
Passed onto the next generation, their kids are the new "death and strawberry" and then they'll pass their kids the torch.
Liam Harris
"Finally been sheathed", is my guess. The ending is about Ichigo finally sitting down and enjoying life with his friends and family without some kind of supernatural bullshit coming up and causing trouble for him.
Ayden Sanders
Low sales, low popularity, no anime, and no merchandise.
Bleach was a sinking ship and JUMP cut him before he could become completely unprofitable. Also I don't think they like him either.
Benjamin Thompson
>Low sales, low popularity, no anime, and no merchandise. Not low sales. Last volume almost sold 400k and it was the 22nd best selling manga of the first half of 2016. Still managed to stay on the top 30 list after all these years.
Michael Butler
Story going to shit wasn't helping either
Josiah Lopez
Why do you hate the final arc ?
Nathaniel Ramirez
>the haters are more butthurt about the ending the shippers
Jose Evans
I'd be 100% ok with a mini-series focused on these three that would have the SOL feeling early bleach had.
William Garcia
Pretty much everything bad about Bleach compartmentalized into a 4 year runtime with a bunch of shitty villains
James Reyes
>And suddenly, Ukitake...!? Good times
Wyatt Cooper
Can I join you guys? Oh wait, I'm dead
Lucas Jenkins
Holy shit look at how far back the Fullbringers showed up compared to when they finally actually did show up jesus
Easton Wood
>Kubo said that the fullbringer arc would be the last arc
No he didn't, he said there would be a small arc (Fullbring) followed by a larger arc (Quincy).
Gabriel Hill
The last volume doesn't release for another three months...
Brayden Gray
so what is kubo gonna do now?
Dylan Price
Become a fashion designer. Being a mangaka just isn't for him. Working on Zombie Powder led him to a mental breakdown and Bleach led to being canned before he was done. If they only gave him until March of next year things would have turned out better.
Sebastian Bell
Link to interview. Kubo's insight must make for an interesting read.
Brandon Allen
NO CONFIRMATION
Ethan Carter
The last interview was from the 13 Blades fanbook and mentions nothing about his relationship with his editors or assistants.
I'm almost positive shitposters make half of this shit up because they have literally nothing better to do.
Ayden Price
>Being a mangaka just isn't for him
74 printed volumes of Bleach say otherwise. You guys seriously judge Kubo way too hard based off your own expectations, by all means Kubo found major success in the manga industry despite a drop-off in popularity halfway through.
Benjamin Carter
>74 volumes >almost 100 million sales >rich as fuck >Being a mangaka just isn't for him :)
Kill yourself
Asher Wright
Can't wait for the obligatory "hurr Bleachfags are fucking sheep why are you defending this shitty manga" post that always comes up when shitposter-kun has nothing left to say.
Xavier Scott
>The last volume I meant the latest volume. The 73rd came out July.
Justin Gray
>Become a fashion designer I don't understand people who seriously think this. Most of the clothes in Bleach were probaaly just copied from what he saw in magazines, stores, etc. He even wrote that something he once drew Renji in was inspired by Dolce and Gabbana. A small clothing line inspired by some clothes in Bleach would sell just fine(I've seen them do it with other series), but Kubo wouldn't survive in the fashion world-especially since the fashion world has very few top Japanese designers.
Ryan James
>The last interview was from the 13 Blades fanbook and mentions nothing about his relationship with his editors or assistants. His latest interview was from the JUMP ryu special where they interviewed one mangaka a month. He gave us a tour of his work space along with it.
Landon Rodriguez
>9 assistants >bleach
Kubo has another series going on under a different name, who is he?
He's assisting the live action staff, making sure the characters look right.
Carter Rogers
Seems to me Kubo got axed because he was clearly dragging his feet. There's no way there wasn't some kind of agreed upon schedule, to bring the manga to an end. It was inane to drag out those elite sternritter as much as he did, especially Gerard. Maybe the editorial department was fed up with Kubo not switching gears and instead kept to the writing style of "I'll leave this plot hook for later" instead of doing something with the assload of hooks he already had.
David Taylor
only has one day of the week off and its friday.
Jaxon James
Do you have any special heart for Shounen JUMP magazine ? Kubo: "To be honest ,not that much (laugh). But even so ,I never thought of reading a manga that is not Shounen JUMP manga ."
KUBO
John Scott
>Not low sales Good joke m8, Bleach's sales cratered fucking hard, and then sold hardly any merchandise on top of it because nobody gave 2 fucks about the series outside of buying a $5 volume every 3 months.
When a series is selling well then that translates into an anime, and merchandise, and then more magazine and volume sales, but Bleach already blew it's financial load and now only limped on because completionists were buying volumes and nothing else.
Nolan Sanchez
Why would anyone like it
Easton Cox
I judge Kubo based on neutral expectations I apply to all works of fiction I read. After a certain point he failed as both an artist and an author and thus became shit.
If you think otherwise you have doorknobs for brains.
Jace Perez
>Bleach's sales cratered fucking hard, Not arguing with you. The sales declined a lot, but it still sold well enough. Let's be honest, the only reason why Bleach ran for as long as did was because of sales since it was ranked bottom on the JUMP chart for years/anime was canceled/no merch/no love from JUMP.
James Richardson
It probably ran as long as it did since it made a lot of money in the day and was on it's final arc, but Kubo dragged it out so much even JUMP lost patience.
Benjamin Smith
Final version of this when?
Aiden Cooper
PAGE 10
Coloring: Kubo plays with white and black to create contrast. He uses blank space deliberately. He uses it stir the reader’s imagination.
Kayden Green
Kubo teased us with a lot of things and didn't reveal shit.
Zachary Nguyen
>my personal standards should be the baseline for everyone, anyone who disagrees with me is wrong
You're a literal child.
Leo Hernandez
Kubo's advice to people who want to become a mangaka: - Don’t listen to others too much. Don’t follow your editor’s advice blindly. Make it your own. In the end, you’re the one who should take responsibility. - He thinks it’s important for a mangaka to look at/think about things from different angles.
Ian Powell
That's four desks you complete retard. He mentioned in the German interview he had four assistants. We see four desks in the JumpRyuu video. Stop spreading bullshit moron
Isaiah Cook
- He isn’t particularly close with his assistants. Because the time they work together isn’t very long. They all go home after work immediately.
Austin Flores
No you stupid nigger do you even know how big bleach was? bleach was making a hundred million $ each year on merch but they suddenly ended the anime and cut off all advertising for bleach since then. Something happened between Shueisha and Kubo.
Blake Scott
Literal children are the only people left that like Bleach because they're dumb as fuck.
Easton Foster
He mention in the jump ryu interview he had 9 assistants. All the desks won't fit in a picture dumb ass.
Jose Jenkins
>subjectivity means that nobody can criticize anything else
Ok buddy, we'll have a discourse once you come out of your little hug box.
Ryder Torres
Bleach's popularity sunk like a rock the moment Aizen ended. The anime kept going until the end of Fullbring, wherein the ratings and overall popularity dropped dead.
>You should've dropped the series after the Aizen arc like normal people
excuse me but we normals dropped it after soul society arc when we saw they were rehashing the same rescue plot
Dylan Johnson
Ok, what wold 4 assistants do? Backgrounds?
Hunter Myers
because yoruichi became a retarded cat
Chase Watson
>He mention in the jump ryu interview he had 9 assistants. Yea, I'm pretty sure he does. You can find the video on youtube.
Ian Hernandez
Show me the moment in the video where he says this. C'mon, user. I'm waiting.
Mason Hall
Speed lines, screentones, typesetting, some inking, etc.
Jacob Morgan
Criticism implies that you've brought up valid criticism, whereas all I see is obvious baiting, such as He even provided his own smug anime face, as if we needed any more evidence that half the shitposters in this thread are straight from Sup Forums.
David Carter
>still of the best selling manga >app game is a global hit >NOBODY LIKES BLEACH
kek
Jayden Martin
That's actually WAY nicer of a setup than I would've imagined.
Christopher Thomas
>series that used to bring in millions Of course they invested in a decent office space at some point.
Lucas Davis
Not like Oda..
Jeremiah Allen
Oda probably actually likes his setup.
Michael Reyes
it looks like a Madmans Cave
Evan Johnson
it fits.
Jose Lee
Naruto and Dragonball are pretty famous for their steep decline into something no one ever wanted.
Sebastian Evans
Stopped reading after Aizen arc honestly. He killed a god, I was happy
Isaiah Reed
I actually forgot bazz and her died.
James Carter
I'm not sure what was the point of them surviving in the first place if all that was gonna happen to them was that they'd run off on their own and be killed by Nazi Jesus off panel.
Julian Sullivan
>>Stopped reading after Aizen arc honestly. That's the general consensus for a fair amount of folks
Leo Cox
>wild ride
Such a lame excuse that people came up yo such a shitty series It was fucking boring no matter how you look at it, and shit
Joshua Morales
Why are you mad?
Blake Jenkins
Was the unbearably slow pacing the biggest flaw of Bleach?
Andrew Stewart
Yes.
Colton Russell
Lack of a strong protagonist who drowns in a sea of characters was the biggest flaw.
At the very least, that's what did it for me. I didn't even survive the Soul Society's second half way back when. I picked it up again only to end up underwhelmed by the conclusion. And the next arc never ever tried to bother to do anything resembling the first few chapters.
Charles Jackson
Not continuing to be japanese ghostbusters was the biggest flaw, but the pacing was awful too. I can barely remember mexico before the grimjaw fight
Gavin Morales
I feel that's a valid point, but Bleach's early popularity in Japan thrived off of the secondary cast, which is why the Captains are prominent in every arc of Bleach after they're introduced.
Juan Jackson
No it was his insistence on showing characters I didn't care about doing things, while the characters I did care about got ignored. And by this I mean he had way too big of a cast, and he never really kept a focus on anything in particular. Which did screw the pacing, but I maintain it was the underlying format of having so many different characters and trying to explain what each of them were doing that was the issue.
Thomas Jackson
Stop saying now that the dust has settled. There will always be shippers in this fandom, and people to disagree with the outcome of Bleach. It was a shitty rushed ending that was pure shit, and waste of what once was one off the greatest shounen mangas.
Can't we just say Kubo finale troll was an succes and move on?
Noah Gray
Young folks just don't appreciate a mountain man's pacing.
Christopher Nguyen
>showing characters I didn't care about doing things, while the characters I did care about got ignored
How is this supposed to be a valid criticism?
Chase Cruz
>and move on?
Take your own advice, user.
Levi Myers
It was a joke user, the criticism was after that. About the series lacking a focus on a cast that you are following.
