I haven't seen that, but some old-ish ones that I watched before I knew better include Elfen Laid and Love Hina. And Oh My Goddess.

I have no idea how those last two got more seasons...

I've probably seen worse shows than it in retrospect, and I sat down and watched the whole thing.
But that was THE show that knocked me out of my "All Anime is awesome!" phase.

Finishing that show was like a dark epiphany.
