By Christmas they will have lost all their territory in Iraq and Eastern Syria. But they will remain in isolated pockets in Damascus and Daraa. Also, expect them to start gaining grounded in Africa and South East Asia, maybe even Central Asia as well

Nice revisionism baboon. >The Arab Gulf states have since 2012 been the most generous supporters of the Syrian opposition, but the constant feuding of regional arch-rivals Qatar and Saudi Arabia also served to undermine insurgent cohesion. >Working closely with Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar was the insurgency’s primary funder until 2013, often channeling its support to hardline Islamists and disregarding U.S. pressure to seek out Western-friendly rebels. On at least two occasions, Qatar breached a stated U.S. red line by delivering shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles to rebel groups.83 >In part to contain Qatar’s rising influence, Saudi Arabia stepped up its own efforts dramatically in late 2012 and early 2013, directing most of its support to less radical factions and becoming a favored partner of the CIA arms program.84 The United Arab Emirates also played a role in Syria, generally seen to be funding anti-Brotherhood, anti-Qatari factions and reinforcing Saudi efforts.85 >Much of the weaponry provided by the Gulf states to Syrian rebels was sourced from Eastern Europe. One team of journalists tracked a surge in purchases of surplus Soviet-era arms from countries like Croatia and the Czech Republic, amounting to some $1.4 billion between 2012 and 2016. Saudi Arabia accounted for two thirds of those purchases. >tcf.org/content/report/assads-enemies-gave-syrian-opposition/

6 injured as blast hits railway tracks & train in Pakistan
At least six people were injured on Friday after a blast on railway tracks in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan. A passenger train was traveling from Quetta, Balochistan's capital, to the city of Lahore when the bomb went off, Reuters reported. "One train bogie was damaged in the blast and a portion of the tracks blown up," said railways official Aammir Baloch. Train services for Quetta were suspended. The blast came hours after a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) died in a landmine explosion in Balochistan’s Nasirabad district.

>Syria rejects report blaming it for April sarin attack-state media
“Syria rejects in form and substance what was included in the report of the U.N. and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons’ Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) that was announced yesterday,” state news agency SANA reported, citing an official in Syria’s foreign ministry.
>The official said the report had been compiled under instructions from the United States and other Western countries “to place more political pressure” on Syria, SANA reported.

Russia’s conclusions totally ignored in OPCW-UN JIM reports on Syria — foreign ministry
According to the ministry, Moscow has begun a thorough analysis of the report. "However it is evident after looking through the report that the conclusions and opinions of Russian specialists that were referred to JIM at its own request have been totally ignored. Moreover, it gives no answers to our questions either," the ministry said. Instead, "the report has diametrically opposite conclusions derived by some anonymous research centers and ‘independent experts,’ which lack convincing proof to be backed."
"We will provide a more detailed analysis after a thorough study of the report next week. Concurrently, as has already been said in the Russian foreign ministry’s statements of October 24 and 25, we will draft and refer to the United Nations Security Council a plan of further steps concerning the expiration of the JIM’s current mandate on November 16," the ministry said.
