The Dragon Balls weren't always active & plenty of times a threat came which could blow up the Earth & the Dragon Balls.

Dragon Balls were never really that OP.

Redoing the movies was its biggest mistake.

Who thought spending half a year of episodes to make shittier versions of the movies on a low budget was a good idea?

At least the DBs couldn't wish away your enemies and needed a year to recharge.

Now they have Super Dragon Balls with no recharge time and presumably infinite power because otherwise they'd be pointless.

It's not like U6 was any better. The Black arc is less bad than the rest. Hell we even got a fight animation that didn't look like shit last episode, even though the fight itself was dumb and inconsistent.

So Goku then they use Namek dragon balls to fix it.

Thing is, dragon balls couldn't wish any enemies past piccolo away. That's why there was still great danger.

Now they have
1. The God of Destruction to destroy anyone destroying shit wantonly
2. Super Dragon Balls of unlimited power and no recharge time.

Also, a Zeno button.

I seriously remember back when I was like 12 fantasizing about Super Saiyan levels past Super Saiyan, going onto AOL chatrooms and people 10 years older than me frustrated while they try to explain to some retard what SSJ meant.

Toriyama may or may not have let me down every step of the way.

Let's be fair if you think about it most of the villains would be non-threats if it wasn't for the fact everyone acts like a fucking idiot about the situation. Just look at the Buu saga, they have loads of chances to stop Buu and end up fucking it up almost every single time until Goku inevitably saves the day once again.

They only had one real chance which was preventing his rebirth, and Vegeta fucked it up.

Goku MIGHT have been able to, but he wasn't certain and I'm pretty sure he couldn't have. It was a gamble, and if he failed he woudn't be around to teach Fusion. With Gohan presumed dead everyone would be fucked.

I'm not sure "failing to win" counts as a missed opportunity. Gohan got outsmarted by a half retarded bubblegum and lost, end of story.

He couldn't have known that. Admittedly, it would have been far more practical to kill buu and use the namek balls to wish pickles back, but hey that's shounen strategy for you, no one thinks these things through.
