Moscow princes are direct descendants of the last Grand Prince of Kyevan Rus (Whose capital was in Vladimir, by the way). Ukraine didn't have any semblance of legal connection to the old state at all, as it became provinces managed by appointies of Polish king and ethnic Polish nobility.
Ukraine has literally no connection to the old state, and no claim (most of which has to do with power and recognition anyway) to Russia.
