So, America?

Ikr

I think you mean horrible ideas with great execution.

America have perfect execution but shit ideas.

...

...

the ideas were ok, the execution and the direction were fucking great

this thread

Noragami

...

only in the last few episodes I'd say

best anime in 2014

...

The bottom two guys and the fedora guy both look like pic related

...

Is that somebody I should report you for posting?

At least still a good source to wallpapers.

If by Report, you mean Report of the Week

This is a true mixed bag.

Some of the ideas were retarded.
Some of the ideas were great.

Some of the execution was great.
Most of the execution was retarded.

...

...

Not even a good idea.

>rebel group with next to no resources somehow can out match an entire military force
>pop star is also secret member of said rebel force
>oh and theres a new biotechnology that allows you to pull extremely advanced weapons based off people genomes
>read above just one more time
>MC is son of scientist who invented said magic weapon
>singing songs that vibrate at certain frequencies cures magical crystal virus
>also there was a magical crystal virus

THIS

The premise was so good but it all goes to shit with the presentation and pacing.

How was the execution terrible?

how was this a good idea?

I don't get why people hate Attack on Titan so much. I think of it like I think of the new Mad Max; it's not profound nor does it have interesting characters but for what it tries to be (action-packed and suspenseful) it does pretty well.

>How was the execution terrible?
see

Definitely no. The execution couldn't have been any better.

Tazaki == best boy

Or may be it was Sakuma. Or Yuki. Can't decide.

It's just underrated. SSY would be the GOAT animation if was made/adapted by Ghibli and Miyazaki himself.

...

I was expecting it, spot on, the ideas are amazing but the flashback end up being more interesting than anything else that happens in the series.

literally this, could of been made into some huge ass adventure exploring each floor to beat the game

instead literally 90% of what happens in the virtual game is skipped in the novels/anime

fucking why, it was such a good idea too, it's not even about sword art online why the fuck is it called that god dammit it triggers me

Bait.

The king

What's going to say these.
>Japs try to make historical drama that isn't set in feudal Japan
>They fuck it up
I had so much hopes for Joker Game and it was just superior nihon keikaku doori.
Same with 91 days, expected serious mafia story and got mexican gunslinger.

I really don't like Tetsurou Araki. His most famous work, Death Note, infamously has a massive drop in quality around the middle because literally only one character dies despite having 20-something episodes to establish a wider, more interesting cast. That series is 37 episodes long yet features a single character that really held it together, the crux of the show was essentially watching two caricatures engaging in situational action, when that changed there was a drop in quality.

The exact same thing happens in SnK, except Eren wasn't nearly as interesting a L to begin with, and his disappearance was facilitated through an arbitrary revolution in the plot which eventually was not well realised in the first season.

The show's pacing was also shit, there was that whole episode where they were surrounded and they just spoke and had flashbacks. This wouldn't be awful if I liked hte cast, but as I say Araki is shit at establishing a wider cast or developing its characters in any subtle way. The show was like one long budget-saving dialogue scene before a big shit-show action sequence (the budget-saving aspect is important because there is a definite impression as though little money and inspiration was put towards the animation and cinematography during dialogue sequences, making it very difficult to feel for the characters leading up to and during action)

Also the action was disorientating. Frequent breaks in the 180 degree rule was basically the show's bead-and-butter because of those gimmicky flying devices that wrapped around the titans. The show was very well animated though the cel often stood out from the CGI backgrounds, none of which is aided by very confusing editing.

The difference between Mad Max and SnK is that Mad Max was excellently crafted. It may still be a "dumb" action movie but it was very well made, the way is not true of SnK

Seems like the japanese are bad at everything that isn't cute girls doing cute things.

Fuck you, it was great.

Bad idea, good execution.

This show is actually decent. People just demand anything with a more serious story to be absolutely amazing or it's terrible.

>because literally only one character dies

You know what I was talking about, plenty of nobodies died but it was the first point in the story where someone so central died, arguably the main antagonist died, leaving behind nothing

>Same with 91 days, expected serious mafia story and got mexican gunslinger.
Wow. 1 episode out of 9 and counting. Great commitment.

Death Note after L dies.
Fullmetal Alchemist (manga), after Greed and Wrath fight and Al starts doing alchemy without transmutation cirlces even though he has no body.
One Piece once they start making Gum-Gum people besides Luffy more common than McDonals and a humanoid reindeer.

letting a fujo write this was the biggest mistake the world came up with.

>Good idea

>Twin towers burning on the background
Why is this allowed?

...

Haifuri had some people believing it would be something else, but it was grimdarkbait all along.

desu I thought it was as good as it could have been considering its direction and animation studio. In spite of the slow as shit build-up, Shinsekai Yori was well executed.

>twin towers
>in Japan
good one yank

Mocking america is an art.

bleach

...

I watched mostly for Kazuto Nakazawa designs

Just watch Dot Hack //Sign or Log Horizon. Both are far superior

Explain.

I should have scrolled through the thread first, you beat me to it.

>generic crime/espionage
>good ideas
Just because the premise is serious doesn't make it a particularly good one.

fucking this

>blaming Araki because L dying ruined Death Note
I don't even particularly like Araki, but that's really not his fault. It's a very major plot point from the source material, there's not much he could do about it.

...

Not much to explain really. The concept of a wandering lesser-god who does any task for 5yen is pretty cool but it's ruined by bad pacing, boring villains, and the main female character being nothing more than a plot device.

this isn't the end of MGS3 with Snake and Young Ocelot?

Both are sleep inducing. Especially .hack

Overlord is the real best LN MMO nonsense.

Remove the girl and everything goes swimmingly.

Sorry that Log Horizon isn't full of "thrills" like SWO. Then again, LH is intended for an older audience.

...

Five's still a shit, tho.

.hack//sign has great dialogue and the lack of action shouldn't be considered a flaw. Cool game world and great soundtrack to boot. The animation is pretty bad, though.

Bkub has good ideas but his art style sucks.
