Patlabor is a fantastic SoL show pretending to be a fantastic mecha show. OVA1 and the movies are their own thing, TV and OVA2 form a very loose adaption of the manga.

I like the "Buddy Cop" Dynamic Birdy and Tsutomu have in the OVA. He's a wimp, but he still man's up when he needs to and helps Birdy with protips during fights. Decode made him too wishy-washy, and the manga made him into too much of a prick and Birdy too dumb.

Decode brought us a richer character, but still I still hold a place for Birdy from the OVAs

I still dont know why I watched Korra, but even as characters go, Birdy is miles beyond Korra. dont even get me started not on the ending, but on the creator's explanation of it.
