I only watch dubs when I want to introduce an anime to somebody and he refuses to read subtitles.
I don't like dubs.
>dubs
Having watched dozens of them when I was trying to get into anime, I have to say that I have never found an English dub that was tollerable. Let alone better than the original Japanese. Even Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop, the dubs that people treat like the holy grail, are full of tons of bad voices and aren't as good as the original Japanese.
I prefer these dubs.
Ghibli movies. All else that anyone would cite are just reminders of their fondest formative years, and thus have only subjective claims to quality.
>he thinks Ghibli dubs are good
Even dub fans don't like the dubs for Nausicaa, Laputa or Porco Rosso.

So exactly why people still obsess over the dubs or Mononoke and Spirited Away?
Wait a fucking minute, is that english dub legit? What the fuck
>So exactly why
I would guess because it's anime on the big screen during the time anime was taking off in America. There's much reason to be excited for greater things, but we know how that turned out.
Personally, because I enjoyed Minnie Driver's voice coming out of a cartoon character.

Shallow as it be, disliking one is a compelling reason for me to prefer the other. I admit the only reason I like dubbed Ghibli is because Miyazaki doesn't employ Real Japanese Voice Actors. (mostly film/tv actors and real children)
Yes it is.
