What the hell, why didn't you guys tell me this was so good? The production value was high, the characters were all fairly interesting and the storyline worked well, and the music was top notch.
Also this is my first shoujo-type anime I've watched where I can't decide who best boy is. Zen and Obi are both based.
Jonathan Wright
the show had a decent following, but remained low key for not generating alot of shit storms. it should have stood out on your radar if you tuned it to look for the usual indicators of success i.e. voice credits, director, studio (unless you're biased towards bones) etc
Ian Roberts
We did But Sup Forums prefer to complain about trainwreck and shitty shonen
Jaxson Peterson
>can find 125,543,488 threads about Kubo's bowel movements >no threads for this great little show
Jack Young
MC was so different than most of the protagonists in these kinds of shows...she was competent, had good work ethic and kept a level head in nearly every situation. She used her fucking brain and I appreciated that.
Anthony Nelson
Smug lawrence
Christopher Moore
>younger prince Lawrence
Would you a Shirayuki with wolf ears that was a travelling herb merchant?
Andrew Jenkins
akatsuki no yona? but we did say it was good. japan bizarrely enough thought it was Korean propaganda, though, most likely because it took place on a peninsula instead of an island nation.
Jordan Allen
This was like a 8.5-9/10 show, I loved it while it was airing. Really nice, actually had an interesting plot, and the cast was great. Bones did a good job.
David Stewart
>akatsuki no yona?
Akagami no Shirayuki
John Anderson
I liked how the prince in the show was basically a glorified office worker and spent most of his time doing administrative shit and being shit on by his older brother. Felt kind of more what I imagine a prince's job actually is.
The stereotypical pretty boy ladies man prince is basically universally derided as a worthless piece of shit for the whole show until he starts getting his act together and learning about governance.
Owen Gonzalez
Sup Forums talked about it plenty, it's not our fucking fault that you don't lurk.
Mason Ramirez
When we did the poll for AOTS, this was the AOTS of the only person who watched more than 30 shows that season. I never got around to the second season
Samuel Lee
You should watch the second season, it's really good.
Thomas Cox
Zen and Obi are some of the best male 'teenage' characters in a love story I've seen. They have emotions without being whiny or insufferable, have jobs and responsibilities they just deal with rather than angsting over them, aren't weirdly sexless like a lot of male leads are but at the same time aren't driven by their boners. Great characterization.
Can't Obi just bang both of them?
Jace Ross
I don't know why but it seems like girls in shoujos always have shitty voices.
Thomas Sanders
It had/has a small but dedicated fanbase who loved it. The types who watched it aren't the types to shitpost in other threads. Shoujo on Sup Forums is a smaller group, but this leads to better discussions.
Kayden Richardson
what I watched of it was really comfy but I got lazy and never finished it. It overall semed kinda low-key, maybe not the ideal for generating fevered discussion
Isaiah Hill
I never really even thought of it as shoujo. Then again my idea of shoujo is pretty much stereotypes, I haven't really read much shoujo series or anything.
Cooper Reed
shoujo is just a label, it's not really a genre
Kevin Perez
I guess they are more in the category of young adults
Luke Wood
...
Luis Baker
...
Caleb Rivera
Forced overacting. As expected of some weird prince.
Xavier Young
The first season has better animation than the second. The second was still good though.
Cameron Thomas
Don't forget to read the manga.
Austin Allen
Fem lead is pretty boring and charmless though.
Aiden Miller
Shit taste
Jace Barnes
>charmless
Camden Barnes
My taste of shoujo heroines are more like Shuurei.
Adrian Gomez
Tell me what you find charming about her then. I just find her your usual nice shoujo lead.
Jonathan Baker
It was really refreshing, The males were great and you could make cases for both of them being the best, Shirayuki being a cute and innocent topped off with a perfect OST.
I'd like more but fuck knows how they could make an interesting plot again.
Isaiah Hall
Not him, but I found Shirayuki to be alot more independent and strong like she actually had character, unlike most shoujo where the female lead is just for preteens to selfinsert.
Alexander Hall
>most likely because it took place on a peninsula instead of an island nation. Not only that, the character names were Korean too.
Gavin Miller
Stupid sexy Zen and his stupid sexy kisses.
I want to marry Kiki.
Blake Mitchell
The guy was super hot, but I dropped this show because I ran out of time for other things. Is it worth picking it up again after all this time?
does he get shirtless at some point?
Dylan King
You mean the silver haired guy?
Alexander Hall
Yup, twice in fact. Both in the second season.
Jose Torres
S3 when?
Hudson Walker
Yes Picked up. Which episodes, may I ask?
Zachary Clark
>it's another 'why didn't you tell me this was good because I didn't lurk enough' episode
Angel Rogers
it's one of my favorite shows desu I don't think I've really watched any other shoujo stuff though
>cute boys >cute girls >good music >good story >good characters
it's wonderful
Liam Allen
>What the hell, why didn't you guys tell me this was so good? Because it's shit, the main character is a Sue and the plot lack of any whatsoever conflict.
The only good character was Raji because of the VA.
Connor Allen
...
Carson Torres
And they all kissed happily ever after. Or did they?
John Kelly
LEWD >raging boner
Evan Smith
> the main character is a Sue what
Carson Gray
Probably Mary Sue.
Blake Gutierrez
I said it was great but everytine I did Sup Forums greentexted at me about it being a super generic shojo and said I have shit taste. I said it was better than OPM and was told to quit shitposting.
Oliver Parker
>I said it was better than OPM and was told to quit shitposting. Comparing a romance anime with a superhero anime is a dumb thing to do and can only be considered shitposting.
Would have been okay if you compared with other romance anime shows like Ore Monogatari.
Charles Hughes
Don't remember, but there was a bath scene, as well as a scene where Zen takes his shirt off so medicine can be applied to his back.
Jose Perez
>the main character is a Sue
Well if I ever needed confirmation that 'Mary Sue' on Sup Forums is slang for 'character I don't like' then this is it
PS Obi best boy
David Stewart
>she doesn't like Hayamin's voice
Blake Gutierrez
>Because it's shit, the main character is a Sue and the plot lack of any whatsoever conflict.
Anthony Hernandez
I'm bummed they're not going to animate the arc where Shirayuki and Obi go to that northern city and end up working on a plague
Izana was cool in that arc too
Jaxon Martinez
Just a copy paste Akatsuki no Yona without actual plot and male MC tries to be Usui Takumi 2.0 but failed
Gavin Scott
Does she ntr the prince with the ninja in season 2?
Tyler Thomas
i liked she she got drunk
Jeremiah Perez
>Does she ntr the prince with the ninja in season 2?
The Prince is just going to sex them both
Problem solved
Cameron Jones
Sup Forums lied to me, they said it wasn't generic shoujo.
Lincoln Long
Well it's not a high-school romance and that's what most of Sup Forums think all shoujo are.
Shirayuki doesn't have a very original story but it's pretty comfy and avoids annoying stereotypes. I found the first half a bit boring at times but the second half is less episodic and worked better.
Luis Fisher
Since she's Akagami no Boring-hime, I don't feel bad that she didn't end up with best boy Obi or the better prince Raj. Zen and her can go and be boring for the rest of their lives.
Anthony Cook
I get that shoujo is less popular just because gorls are into these types of things less, but I don't know why it's always forgotten. Even though there's less, there's still such a huge amount that it's not hard to find something good.
Kevin Carter
>shoujo >good
Nathan Jackson
Why is Hana to Yume top-tier? Most mags have a mix of good and terrible.
Jacob Brown
You can also coutn the fact that anime threads usually take more place than manga ones: shoujo adaptation are in the minority, are often short and often with an unfinished story.
It's not totally forgotten though, we got a big shoujo thread something like two days ago.
