What the hell, why didn't you guys tell me this was so good? The production value was high, the characters were all fairly interesting and the storyline worked well, and the music was top notch.
Also this is my first shoujo-type anime I've watched where I can't decide who best boy is. Zen and Obi are both based.
the show had a decent following, but remained low key for not generating alot of shit storms. it should have stood out on your radar if you tuned it to look for the usual indicators of success i.e. voice credits, director, studio (unless you're biased towards bones) etc

MC was so different than most of the protagonists in these kinds of shows...she was competent, had good work ethic and kept a level head in nearly every situation. She used her fucking brain and I appreciated that.

akatsuki no yona? but we did say it was good. japan bizarrely enough thought it was Korean propaganda, though, most likely because it took place on a peninsula instead of an island nation.
This was like a 8.5-9/10 show, I loved it while it was airing. Really nice, actually had an interesting plot, and the cast was great. Bones did a good job.

I liked how the prince in the show was basically a glorified office worker and spent most of his time doing administrative shit and being shit on by his older brother. Felt kind of more what I imagine a prince's job actually is.
The stereotypical pretty boy ladies man prince is basically universally derided as a worthless piece of shit for the whole show until he starts getting his act together and learning about governance.

Zen and Obi are some of the best male 'teenage' characters in a love story I've seen. They have emotions without being whiny or insufferable, have jobs and responsibilities they just deal with rather than angsting over them, aren't weirdly sexless like a lot of male leads are but at the same time aren't driven by their boners. Great characterization.

It had/has a small but dedicated fanbase who loved it. The types who watched it aren't the types to shitpost in other threads. Shoujo on Sup Forums is a smaller group, but this leads to better discussions.
what I watched of it was really comfy but I got lazy and never finished it. It overall semed kinda low-key, maybe not the ideal for generating fevered discussion

It was really refreshing, The males were great and you could make cases for both of them being the best, Shirayuki being a cute and innocent topped off with a perfect OST.

Sup Forums lied to me, they said it wasn't generic shoujo.
Well it's not a high-school romance and that's what most of Sup Forums think all shoujo are.
Shirayuki doesn't have a very original story but it's pretty comfy and avoids annoying stereotypes.
I found the first half a bit boring at times but the second half is less episodic and worked better.
Since she's Akagami no Boring-hime, I don't feel bad that she didn't end up with best boy Obi or the better prince Raj. Zen and her can go and be boring for the rest of their lives.
I get that shoujo is less popular just because gorls are into these types of things less, but I don't know why it's always forgotten. Even though there's less, there's still such a huge amount that it's not hard to find something good.

You can also coutn the fact that anime threads usually take more place than manga ones: shoujo adaptation are in the minority, are often short and often with an unfinished story.
It's not totally forgotten though, we got a big shoujo thread something like two days ago.
