It was too complex for you.. Try watching like Chobits or Full Metal Panic.

I don't know man,I really enjoyed the confy games and friendship in the beginning, atleast let me self insert and make the MC "all according to keikaku" but nooo, they had to fuck him up too...

what?

The anime is awful

How was what supposed to work? The plot? The characters?

Are you retarded?

The show in general. It's kind of pointless

_____YES_____

Idiotic idiot.

wooh

I don't get it user, you feeling down about it? It sometimes happens when you finish a series

Redundant

Higurashi requires you to look beyond the surface.

Higurashi is awful. The story repeatedly does the same uninteresting/stupid scenes, the shock value dies quickly and all the charachters are actually retarded with maybe the exception of Miyo,

This is some blatant bait.

Are you serious? At the end of S1 and the enternity of S2 Rika feels the need to explain exactly what is going on every fime minutes followed by 'Nipaaaa'.

yeah? you might be on to something here

Well, for starters, Rika is the real protagonist, not Keiichi.

baitant blait!

A cute alcoholic!

Read the VN.

Absolutely not retarded. If you don't understand the VN/anime, it's a type of "psychosis porn". It's a common misconception that it's "murder porn", no, it's not even murder porn at all. Although it's not even "porn" in the sense that it turns you on sexually, it's more that it has just the right atmosphere of psychosis and madness to where it gives you that feeling of cathartic release.

This content is designed in a specific way where someone feels catharsis watching it, a release of their primal feelings. That sense of psychotic madness is very difficult to replicate well, and this show/VN does just that, which is one of the reasons why it's popular.

It's similar to the feel of lovecraft, if that makes sense. People often wonder why lovecraft was so popular, it's because he captured the feeling of primal madness very well, and it appeals to this very specific demographic.

If you still don't understand, then you probably aren't a crazy person or have never been/gone crazy in your life. Good for you I guess.

It's definitely not retarded though, although it's obvious you're just baiting at this point, not even sure why I bothered getting hooked by the bait.

Best description I've read so far.

Slander! She dilutes it with juice.

That was so on point
>mfw no face

It's just random though.

Eh I give this analysis a 6/10.

You have captured the darker elements of the series (and 7th Expansion works in general) but you are really ignoring its equal half of goodness and light.

What you described is the roller coaster ride down into madness and despair, without mentioning how the narrative works very hard to bring back up into hope and understanding before dropping you down deeper and then lifting you even higher.

The series is a lot like a ride, The comedy, happy, quirky, SOL is more meaningful and precious because we know how fleeting and costly it is to maintain. We know the dark side of the coin.

All in all you come out feeling...enlightened for lack of a better term. You are given a new appreciation for the deepest depths of madness and human darkness and how it is something to be relished in its own right to fully appreciate the true value of hope, friendship, and love.

This is over analyzing at It's finest.

Not even close, you clearly haven't played any 07th expansions VNs. It deals with a shit ton of more complex concepts than I even scratched the surface on.

Hanyuu pls

Rika is a good girl HAU

I only played the game because I liked the song "dear you". No ragrets

I somewhat disagree actually, although I like the characters for the most part, the darker elements are what really make it great. I admit my analysis was a bit shallow, I could say much more about the series, but I don't really like the series past the 21st episode of the first season, when the mystery gets ruined and the world starts getting explained, and the author tries to link the different stories together in a silly "quantum leap" sort of way along with hanyu. That's when the story really starts turning bad. Some of the violence and suffering in season 2 feels a bit too forced, doesn't feel as genuine as the first season. This is probably due to how the VNs developed, but any story that goes on too long will often be a victim of its own success.

The darker elements, ulterior motives of all the characters, and watching how and why they break their sacred bonds of friendship are what make the series great. Otherwise it'd be a dull slice-of-life moe.

And while it's often nice to watch something beautiful rise out and free itself from the depths of hell like you say, it's far more enthralling to watch something beautiful slip and fall in to its darkest depths, taking others along with it.

10/kek

I always love watching these things, no matter how many times I've watched them.

>Image.image.image.jpg

>this is now 10 years old

I think you make some assumptions. I don't get any catharsis from this or lovecraft, I enjoy the tension of peering into the unknown and trying to figure out what's going on.

Not that guy but I think the best part about higurashi is how it makes you sympathize with the characters murdering and otherwise doing horrible things to their friends.

It gives the characters a situation while you ride along from their perspective and you ultimately feel that murder is not only the only possible course of action in that situation but that it is extremely logical to do so.

Well like I said what I wrote applies to a specific type of person. Definitely not saying it applies to everyone, others may enjoy the series for different reasons of course, but I personally view it as psychosis porn. I've watched the first 21 episodes countless times just because of that strange way it makes me feel.

I'm pretty sure it's because I'm personally pretty crazy, I've had a number of times in my life where I've almost fully slipped in to similar madness and let go, maybe it's just some sort of psychological connection.

What did he do?

How is it over analyzing when the author basically said the same exact thing?

>He has said that, "a story should be like a roller coaster. That is to say before writing a really cruel scene, I have to lift the people's spirits, for example, with a fun scene... Before writing a scene of pure despair, we must go through scenes of hope. And indeed, when I write, all of this amuses me very much."

Interesting, to me it's like peering into a void I can't really understand but is fascinating to watch. I've never felt "crazy" and I never really lose control, I haven't cried in well over 15 years at this point.

>Higurashi used a time loop plot with suffering
>many people thinks it's shit and edgy

>Re: zero used time loop plot with suffering
>many people hailed it like it's the best thing ever

why?

Different group of fags.

Good morning.
Mr. thepedo, are you awake? I need to give you something.

Wake up, nerd!

I bought the three VN's from Steam on impulse. What am I in for?

I actually think it's quite the opposite, since Higurashi doesn't revel in its suffering like Zero does. People appear to watch R:Z to see how the protagonist will get his shit wrecked this week, people watched Higurashi to try to figure out why the cast was getting their shit wrecked in the first place.

This is now Hanyuu thread.

Grrrrrr!! There you go, nerd. I was planning to give you this on the last weekend waifu and husbando drawthread as a part of an evil plan to ruin your opportunity of a more quality drawing, but I forgot so there. This is the last time I do something like this so don't worry. That's all. Bye

i'm awake I'm awake, what do you want?

Isn't it funny that Hanyuu never gets a thread of her own? It's as if she doesn't exist or something.

fun

I really liked Higurashi, I wasn't familiar with the plot so things really did take me by surprise. I specially liked how the story turned to be government/scientific conspiracies instead of a local curse like it had been expected. I probably would have loved it more if they didn't pull the whole magical witches/hanyuu stuff at the end, but it was still refreshing at the time.
The reason why I will always be disappointed at it is the shit art style and annoying voices though.

Read the VN.
Even if you know the twist, it's worth reading because the anime is a disappointment and the VN is a masterpiece.

Oh... I'm sorry. I think I confused you for someone else? It's nothing, forget it.

Unfortunately the VN has even shittier artwork. I remember starting the VN between Higurashi and Kai but I never got to finish it as waiting for translations took too long and I lost interest after the anime ended. I will probably try to find it again though, thanks for reminding me.
I jumped back on Umineko afterwards and oh boy that VN was a whole different mind blow.

>the VN has even shittier artwork.
Don't judge a book by its cover, just read it and stop bitching.

Hmmm, whatever.

...

You could try getting the PS2 or Steam version if you prefer the art style of those to the original.

Though, the original sprites aren't even that bad once you get used to them.

Don't try the PS2. That's for fuckers who can't stand the art as it was originally supposed to be read.

>Baiting this hard
Here's a (you) for your effort

...

>old art is horrible
>IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE READ LIKE THAT
no, the author just couldn't draw for shit

It's a lot simpler and more direct than the previous nonsense about psychosis and Lovecraft

I bet you're the kind of faggot who wants 8bit graphics in 3DS remakes of retro games.
