Is this the greatest Anime movie/ova of all time?

What else comes close?

you have to be more specific than that. Kensin's OVA's are so good, the OST is god tier, the last sequence, its just unforgettable.

IMHO Wings of honneamise is among the best movies, along with many of Satoshi Kon.

Wings is kinda slow, but its a showcase on extremely good animation, and those days seems to be long gone. I know every now and then are good animation threads, but this movie is full to the brim with top notch stuff.

...

How exactly should I be more specific?

My dick.

Maybe best OVA. Not really a movie since it is a series.

source

It's not very good.

Honneamise is shit.

I'd say Tsuiokuhen is one of the best anime ever, simply.

As OVAs, I also love YKK, but it's kinda special, I can't put the iyashikei on a classic scale of comparison.

And for Honneamise, I love it too but it feels so flawed, and despite its flaws I think it's a masterpiece, it's kinda rare.

t. Kyoanus licker

>Wings of Honneamise
Literally the greatest anime film of all time. A truly beautiful and ambitious film, tastefully done and with a good message.

>Gunbuster
>Nadia
>Evangelion
>FLCL
>Gurren Lagann
All bullshit that panders to waifufags with no standards.

What happened?

But I dislike KyoAni. Especially their visuals

I got why Nadia was in the second column

Wings of mayonaise is boring as fuck. Nice animation alone doesn't make a good movie.

Could you actually form reasonable arguments that end up supporting your thesis? Because right now this is just a slightly less autistic spin-of of the epic, prove to me why this isn't the best anime ever pro tip:you can't, series of threads.

>responding to pasta

This, plus the attempted rape and the floundering attempts by Gainax to cobble some sort of substance by bringing science and religion in but then it ends with probably the dumbest shit I've ever heard

Every scene is Honneamise is genius. It is literally too deep for you.
Stick to waifushit if Honneamise is too hard to comprehend. Tell me more about how "deep" Evangelion is.

Explain why having a literal stand ins representing science and religion in an anime is deep

People stop dreaming. People started fantasizing.

>literal
2deep

>complains about Evangelion fans
>2deep

>Evangelion
>panders to waifufags

>I never watched the show: the post

trolled hard

There's no such thing as greatest of all time.
This is definitively among the best that I watched though.

What others have you watched that you enjoyed?

I only watched the first two movies before I had to quit the show out of disgust, but just judging from just those, the show was basically pandering shit. Almost every major character is either a girl the main character has romantic tension with or related to him. Any time that there are four female characters to every male it's a red flag in my book.

It's no Angel's Egg but it's p decent.

You didn't watch the show

This is a pretty great line, to be honest.

Legend of the Galactic heroes?

>wings of mayonaise shill
>probably a gainax/anno faggot
You know what has far better animation? Akira and Venus Wars. Why don't you shill those?

Oh right, Anno didn't work on them.

People like you really are the dumbest.

I will never stop shilling Kara no Kyoukai 5, it's the greatest film I've ever seen and I cried like 3 times watching it. Not even a TMfag.
Honneamise is a marvel for sure, but I have too many problems with the script and general structure of the film to call it a masterpiece. And on a animation level FLCL is Gainax's greatest work. Launch sequence is baller though.

It wasn't really my intention to advance Ruruoni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen as the greatest anime of all time, I was just trying to get recommendations from people who enjoyed it. I have no idea if it’s the greatest of all time, I haven’t watched everything. I hope it isn’t, because that would mean that there are better ones I haven’t seen yet. It is probably the best Anime I've seen personally though. Some of Miyazaki's stuff comes close.

>Kara no Kyoukai 5
Is it necessary to watch the first 4? Honest question, I've never heard of it, though I have a prejudice against LN adaptations.

Watch Satoshi Kon's movies.
Perfect Blue
Millenium Actresss
Paprika

Beautiful Dreamer is right up there.

Can I watch this withouth reading the manga or watching the anime?

Recommendation/request threads belong on the appropriate board, Lurk for 2 years before posting.

Fuck off idiot.

I would say yes, though they're not in chronological order. And prepare to be confused.

You must be pretty new to anime if you think that highly of Miyazaki. But as OVAs are concerned, reminiscence is one of the best.

It's a prequel. How stupid can you be.

...

no gintama is the greatest samurai anime

Obviouly not, where was Optimus Prime in Lactating Homos?

Yeah, I think it might actually be better if you haven't read the manga. A little knowledge of the history of the bakumatsu would probably be beneficial, but it isn't necessary. In case you're interested, you can wiki: Shinsengumi, Meiji restoration, Ikedaya incident, Kido Takayoshi (Katsura Kogoro), Takasugi Shinsaku, and that should give you everything you really need to enjoy the movie fully. If you're lazy, not even that is necessary.

Akira and Amer Beton beats it. Just my personnal taste too. Great taste of yours anyway OP

It's no Bottom's Dream...

>first two movies
>the show
I know this is bait, but there are actual anons on Sup Forums who have done this.

Miyazaki's movies are almost all for children. But as children's movies go they're some of the best. If you're in the mood for a kids movie, he's the man. Kiki's Delivery Service is a fantastic depiction of coming of age.

>english translation
Why is this allowed?

I didn't know it was a prequel
Thanks, already torrenting it.
Going to save it for sunday.

y'havta reaD Joyce's Ulysses 20=times

How long should I have to watch a show before I enjoy it? Are you saying it gets better? If you can't make your show worth watching in 4 hours, you probably aren't a very good storyteller. Especially when everyone seems to agree that the ending is shit. Frankly, I wouldn't have even watched as much as I did if the series wasn't so famous.

The films are involved in a dialectic process with the original series, it may not be comprehensible to external viewers

user stop this isn't funny anymore.

No bullshit, I could actually buy this. So, are you saying the series is worth watching? From what I saw, much of the appeal was vicariously having romantic relationships through a loser insert character. Is there really more to it than that?

>judging eva by the fucking REBUILD MOVIES
Holy shit fuck off and never come back here.

youtube.com/watch?v=aNvqtKv1bPo

>youtube

user, i'll bite and inform you that when people recommend NGE, they're referring to the TV series and the End of Eva, not the Rebuilds.

What about NGE appeals to you? I'm not trying to sound condescending, I'm genuinely curious. I need some idea before I go back down that rabbit hole again.

>hasn't seen evangelion
lurk for 2 years before posting and watch more anime

trolled hard

Thanks for the suggestion.

>i-it isn't a r-rec thread!

Tsuiokuhen was one of the best things I've ever watched. It improves upon its manga source material so much it's ridiculous.

Just fucking watch the show, empahasis on SHOW. If I had to give a reason, I simply love all the characters and the bullshit they go through.

that wasn't me.

Rebellion. Fight me

It's a part of the canon.

So is Tezuka but no one watches his stuff.

アドゥレセンス黙示録 for the pixiv generation

mecha canon

It arguably ended there too.

Yeah, philistines don't.

What is Bloom's favorite manga?

Sword of the Stranger
EoE
Perfect Blue

>EoE
Hello pleb.

Hi.
Is hating eva cool?

Indeed it is.

...

ok
wow EoE was so shit
fuck anno, he's a hack

It's hip to like Anno if you stop after Nadia

Sword of the Stranger looks pretty cool.

...

...

...

Why were there crosses at the graveyard at the beginning of the movie? Was this common practice at the time or was Kenshin a Christian?

It was like that in the manga too. I wonder why?

Ghost in the Shell obviously
