But what is even less convincing is his dialogue. It doesn't sound like what a black person would say, but rather a white person. It's too fast paced and snappy for a coon. Idris does not use sentence structures or speed in his normal speech.
Watching this scene, I can "believe" the white actress's character, but have a hard time believing Elba's character because of the unnatural dialogue.
I think black actors are at their best when they speak like actual niggers. Even relatively smart niggers have a slower, mellower way of structuring sentences. They don't speak like white writers make them speech (whitewashing their dialogue).
