Were some killed? Yes. But not on an industrial scale as cited.
There were those who were shot, but many more died of starvation and disease as the war reached it's conclusion. The idea was to segregate them from the general population to avoid a repeat of the "Stab in the back" as the NSDAP believed happened at the end of WWI. Afterwards, the Jews and other undesirables were to be deported to another country. One such land that was considered was Madagascar, which would come under German occupation following a successful conclusion of the coming war against the liberal democracies.
Germany was starving and eating rotten meat in 1944-45. Conditions in the camps were far worse, and were exacerbated due to Allied bombing runs. All essential material was diverted to the front for the desperate defense of the country.
It is easy to fall into the thinking that the Germans dindu nuffin. They did do sumthin, but it wasn't on the scale cited today. If anything, the fact that even cursory investigation into the topic is a crime in many countries leads one to believe that if the events were analyzed neutrally that a significant change would occur in power structures.

We know how many deaths there were in the camps, because the nazis kept records and issued death certificates for each and every one (till society collapsed in 1945). These numbers are also corroborated by the death tolls transmitted from the camps to Berlin that London could listen to after we broke their codes. Unless you are willing to believe that there was an off the record conspiracy to gas 6 million extra Jews that left behind no evidence.

Zyklon B was a common cyanide pesticide. During WW2, Germans purchased 750 tons of it to delouse fabrics at all concentration camps because of the typhus epidemic that originated on the Eastern Front in 1941.
Typhus, also known as "jail fever," is a deadly disease for which there is still no preventative vaccine. It was the primary cause of death in German WW2 concentration camps, the vast majority near the end of the war as German society collapsed. For example, Anne Frank and her sister Margot died from typhus in the camp hospital at Bergen-Belsen after their transfer there from Auschwitz, where they had spent 2 months. Anne Frank's father, Otto, was liberated from the Auschwitz camp hospital where he was also ill with typhus.
15,000 of the 50,000 Jews who died in Bergen-Belsen died from typhus in the 2 months AFTER it had been liberated by British troops.

As discussed in the journal above, Zyklon B gas deposits a distinctive Prussian blue residue on exposure. The Prussian blue is clearly present after 75 years in the Majdanek delousing chamber, but not in the Auschwitz main homicidal gas chamber. Extensive testing has been done on the Auschwitz gas chamber walls, both by independent researchers and the Auschwitz museum authorities. They all returned the same result. They were found to contain only trace amounts of cyanide, as much as one would expect to find in a room that had been fumigated, but not a homicidal gas chamber.
Fred Leuchter was "The nation's leading adviser on capital punishment" in America according to the New York Times (October 13, 1990). In 1988, he tested the walls of the Auschwitz gas chamber at the behest of Ernst Zundel and found only trace amounts of cyanide. It was this scientific proof of a gas chamber hoax that brought holocaust revisionism into the mainstream (1:23).

The "5 million non-Jewish victims of the holocaust" was an arbitrarily chosen number (as in, the number 5) by Simon Wiesenthal in the late 1970s as part of the Jewish efforts to spread holocaust awareness in the West which was only beginning back then.
Wiesenthal, a famous holocaust survivor, Nazi hunter and writer, wanted to aid this cause by drawing the West's attention to the non-Jewish civilian victims of Nazi oppression in the hope that this way, they'd take up more interest in the holocaust because it had cost them many lives as well, and not just the Jews.
Wiesenthal chose the number 5 arbitrarily - high enough to awake non-Jewish interest, yet low enough as to not surpass the Jewish death toll itself (minimum 5.1 million, see Raul Hilberg).
Historically speaking the number of civilian non-Jewish victims Axis powers killed in Europe varies wildly depending on the criteria. If we just took the Aktion T-4 Euthanasia program victims, as well as gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's witnesses and non-Jewish civilian political prisoners, this would only tally up to 1 million.
If we add all disarmed Soviet soldiers who died in captivity in German camps, we will get another 3 million victims (including victims of Hitler's Commissar Order or Kommissarbefehl).
If we added the civilian victims of the Siege of Leningrad who succumbed to disease and starvation rather than collateral damage due to shelling, we would get another 1 million.
This way, we would arrive at our 5 million, but this number would increase by another 2 million or more if we added every non-Jewish civilian victim that perished in a cause not directly related to collateral damage on the European front.
Therefore, considering how much the number varies, while Wiesenthal's number itself is an invention, it is nevertheless fact that millions of non-Jewish non-combatants died at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators.

That this is a letter in German with English words thrown in should already raise the alarm, but we'll continue anyway: the document lists only registered deaths ("beurkundete Sterbefälle") at some Nazi concentration camps. The vast majority of people who died at the extermination camps were never registered since they didn't enter the camp (e.g. at Auschwitz) and were marched on immediately to the gas chambers if they failed the Selektion, or in the case of the AR camps, weren't meant to be absorbed into the camp in the first place. So this Bad Arolsen letter and similar correspondence is frequently misrepresented as the absolute death toll of the Holocaust by deniers and attributed to the Red Cross.
