I am thinking about joining the army. What are the pros and cons in doing so?

DO NOT JOIN THE ARMY! it's all political correctness and no discipline with very little training. If I could take it all back, I'd go with my original plan and join the French foreign legion. They get way better training and fight in way weirder places. They're the elite of the elite and are superior to any other fighting force on earth. The pay is better and you get EU citizenship. If you go Active Army you wont have time to use your free collage. I'd suggest going National Guard, getting your degree, and then turning Active as an officer if you want.

join the navy and go aviation, it lets you work above all the stupid ships company stuck below the flight deck 24/7, you dont even really have to do GQ drills with them thanks to sleeper chits, and just be better than them in general.

It's be the best time of your life. Do it. Get a combat MOS but nothing too hard core unless you want to spend the rest of your life crying in your beer. Be an MP, FDC, something like that.

Coast Guard is afflicted with chronic budget cuts resulting in underfunding everywhere, especially training and education. Also, 90+ percent reenlistment rate results in slow promotion and 'high year tenure,' (HYT) - similar to Reductions In Force - look it up.

join the chAIR FORCE and enjoy comfy buildings with a/c, the same amount of pay (maybe), and choosing a MOS that will actually give you some kind of career skill afterwards other than "i can shoot people really good with complicated weapons lolol"

Being in the army is basically like being paid to be a dog boner jerker offer. It's a job, someone has to do it, but you get covered in dog jizz and have to pretend to enjoy it.

Why not just say, people who join the military tend to be losers, that way one counterexample doesn't disprove your statement, like Robert Mueller, George H.W. Bush, John Kerry. It's actually interesting how many of these people risked their lives.

Come to think of it, prestige is what I want in a career. Real worth, not the fame of an actor, the comfort of an actuary, or the money of a technical professional. That's why I'm either becoming an academic or joining the military.
