The Lord of the Rings was an integral part of my childhood and probably one of my favorite stories/movies of all time. It's a story about friendship, bravery, adventure, and the movies were made in a time before they would have gotten burned for having no niggers and faggots in them. My father read the books to me when I was little, and I grew up watching these movies over and over with my brother and dad.

Tolkien wrote LotR series as sort of "missing Saxon mythology". So of course have cultural norms of old Gaelic, Saxon, Angle, Jute, Welsh cultures! Everything except sex, of course, because he just focus on the story, not anything else (so we not really see even any queens or prince or princess here -- but this deliberate storytelling choice for Tolkien).

Really mess up the point if become "racially diverse". Would destroy more than the context, but also destroy the story because Tokien was very specific with descriptions for a reason.

I'm surprised that Christopher Tolkien and the Tolkien Estate would even consider this. I know Christopher hated the Jackson movies.

If it gets made, it gets made. Doubtful I'll watch it, anyway. The Jackson movies are perfect enough for me that I don't care how shitty the show might be. Most importantly, nothing they do will change Tolkien's actual works or the film trilogy.

At worst, it will just be a shitty and unnecessary adaptation that can be easily written off by fans.
