The conceptual gap you need to cross here is that you're summing up the area under a series of flat steps, when the real solution is the area under a continuous line.
You can't use the same technique to solve with this conceptual understanding, but you can draw the graph and find the area of triangles to do it.

I remeber 9th grade geometry, I got 60% on a quiz that I got every answer correct on. Was marked down for not showing my work. That was the moment I officially gave up on school.

The probability goes down for the last 15 mins. If group 1 arrives at 45 min, they wait 15 mins, but if they arrive at 59 mins, they only wait 1 min, and there is very low chance of both groups arriving. Have to add up all those probabilities. Someone do it.

Group 1 is the first arriving group. So group 2 can't arrive before group 1.
