New York State Constitutional Convention

Hey, fellow NY anons. How are you guys voting on the NYS Constitutional Convention? I'm for it, since there's near zero chance Albany will ever reform anything on it's own.

Down here in the City, there's a LOT of money being pumped into advertising against the convention, and almost none into promoting it. The liberal politicians here seem convinced it's going to be dominated by upstate Republicans. Is the same thing true where you are?

LI here, ex NYC. Nobody wants it. It’s Cuomo’s last ditch attempt to end collective bargaining, to gut state employee benefits and education, restrict the second amendment, and all the other nasty shit he couldnt pass.

Also, you faggots better not put deblasio back in office.

I'm voting no.

The people who are screwing up the state would be the ones amending the constitution. Sounds like a bad idea.

Sounds based to me. Taxes are absurd.

LI here and voting yes. If the Concon passes it gives delegates the opportunity to present a wide array of issues like term limits etc.. the whole muh pensions thing is fearmongering Bullshit. The pensions are CONRACTUAL agreements, nothing will happen to them and the whole muh taxes thing just means the issue of raising taxes will be presented.

Why would Cuomo want to push any of those ideas? It would lose him a good chuck of his voters.

Other than the 2nd Amendment bit - which he passed with the SAFE Act.

>Also, you faggots better not put deblasio back in office.

Literally no one I know is voting for him, and that includes liberal politicians. He may still win, but it's not going to be anywhere near the margins the polls are suggesting.

Only if you vote them in. But that's really the best argument I've heard against it, that state level politicians will run for the seats at the convention in their area, and since they already have campaign funds and campaign experience, they're likely to win.

If the pensions can't be touched by the Convention, what are the unions afraid of? With their clout, they could probably get dozens of union members elected to the Convention, but they're spending tons of money fighting against it.

long islander here, it seems like everyone on both sides is convinced that it's a terrible waste of time and money that will somehow benefit their opponents

Syracuse here.

All the labor union faggots are out in the streets holding signs and vandalizing things with bumper stickers

>VOTE NO on constitutional convention.

This is reason enough for me to vote yes. Fuck these marxists.

Anyone here from a Republican area?

>everyone on both sides is convinced that it's a terrible waste of time and money

I'm wondering about this bit especially. Are the Republicans as against this as the Democrats are for the same reason?

NYS is fecked. The Albany Swamp (both parties) and DeBlaso city elite have poured a boatload of $$$ into NO CC.

They are spreading disinfo trying to scare the unions (civil service, teachers, etc.) that the CC will be a pension-grabfest, tenures reversed, etc.

Why? Because they are scared sh_ tless of real reform, reform that would threaten our "most corrupt state in the Union" title which seems to be forever our fate.

NYS is the poster child for the most business-unfriendly, highest-taxed state suffering from a non-stop brain drain of our youngins...

Yes, we try to out-compete CA on every level of cringe possible.

Bottom line: the older greedy and wary pensioners are set to pull the ladder up now that they've got "theirs". So they'll turn down, once more, this 5 chances a century opportunity to completely overhaul our laughingstock of a "Boss Tweed" Tammany Hall constitution....

You bought right into the agitprop, friendo...

Because our State SWAMP is fighting reform tooth and nail and are flowing the MSM with such disinfo....

BUMP.

i was born and raised in brooklyn, it fucking sucks.there.

the NYS conservative party is against it, weirdly so are all the unions i've seen

...

Nyc here, malliotakis has no chance but i think some districts can get red councilmen. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on constitutional convention?

Niagara County user here.

Voting "Yes" for the off chance we can split the state.

Cuomo needs to be tried for treason.

Yo. Yo. Yo. See my longer post. The SWAMP or uniparty has poured beau coup $ to fight this.

Let me dispel the main falsehood: so-called Progressive actions will be reversed by an out of control Trump-like Convention.

NOT.

Next week's vote is only whether to hold a Convention. Three more steps are required. 1) vote for delegates (which will reflect status quo) 2) hold the Convention where the entire Constitution may be re-done and the last step which the fearmongers NEVER MENTION 3) EVERY SINGLE PROPOSED CHANGE TO THE CURRENT CONSTITUTION HAS TO BE SEPARATELY VOTED ON IN LINE-ITEM FASHION.

There's NOT A CHANCE that ANY so-called progressive measures (ha!) will be undone in this brain-dead, libtard state.

This is ONLY about greed and corruption. Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall Redux....

Was going to make this thread yesterday because I don't know much about it

My super liberal and fireman neighbors are against it

Figured it may be liberal trash but make sense if they're trying to gut benefits

I'm still torn because this state is fucked destroy and rebuild sounds like a good idea until you look at who'd be rebuilding it. Is there any chance this could for a positive out of this?

How are the Yids voting? I'll vote the opposite. I assumed this was one of their tricks and since they have the most power in the state they were going to be for it. Upstate is in shambles (except Saratoga county) and have no real power or influence. If this passes, I suspect they Yids will gain even more power and ruin this state to the point of no return.

All you need to know is Schumer and Cuomo want you to vote no

i assure you there will be jews voting both for and against this

315 here. Voting yes but not going to hold my breath that it passes. I just was speaking with some good lads about this last night and I could hardly describe the “vote no” commercials to them without raging over how much of a disinfo fear campaign it is.

>stop public officials from collecting their pensions if convicted of corruption

BTW, question #2 on Tuesdays ballot is about exactly that. Be sure to vote on it, Anons.

Also, Prop 3, which affects upstate heavily:
ballotpedia.org/New_York_Proposal_3,_Forest_Preserve_Land_Bank_Amendment_(2017)

if it passes we have to hijack it and put voter id law on the 2019 ballot

>term limits
The government is corrupt only because the people have allowed armies to corporate lobbyists to control the government.

Corporations get nearly all the welfare, pay the least in taxes and they decide where the US will send troops. They control the media and convince the feeble-minded that the corporate agenda is best for Americans. It's not true.

Corporations are legal fictions. They are created and dissolved by the stroke of a pen. Yet we have been working diligently to give corporations artificial personhood. Corporations now have constitutional rights superior to those of natural born American citizens. It's wrong.

Corporations love term limits because then their lobbyists will have all the decades of legislative experience and Congress will always be doe-eyed freshmen. Conservatives want term-limits because that's what we've been told to think.

Regulations protect consumers, employees, citizens, shareholders and everyone else. Corporate executives hate regulations because they want more profits and compensation without having to be responsible for anyone they kill or any environment they pollute. Conservatives hate regulations because that's what we've been told to think.

All the convoluted tax laws and tax loopholes? They were written by corporations and passed by the members of Congress who owe their allegiance to those same corporations. That's why they gleefully want flat tax. Conservatives generally love flat tax because that's what we've always been told to think.

Everyone who knows economics knows consumer demand creates jobs. Corporations have tricked the idiots into believing that only the wealthy are "job creators" That's false. You let { working } Americans keep more of the wages they earned by making the wealthy pay what they owe, then there's more demand and more jobs. If that means unpatriotic corporations moving to communist China or Saudi Arabia, then that's where their true allegiance lies.

upstate socialist here, not sure which way to vote. It's interesting to see the different perspectives here. fuck Cuomo and the horse he rode in on. I was originally thinking no, but I think voting yes is a vote for chaos, which is good right now. Chaos yes.
