Is child speech therapy bullshit?

My child (4 years) has a bit trouble speaking (not more than other kids is what I say) because he had a hearing impairment because of fluid in his ears.

Already had a myringotomy (but no tympanostomy tube). Now the fluid is back and they think of a new surgery if the medication doesn't work. So far so good.

But they wanna send him to a child speech therapist.
I think that's just a scam by moneygrabbers to get your shekels and that it will fuck up my kid because "there's something wrong with you, you need a doctor".

What's Sup Forumss opinion on child speech therapy?

Well if the kid speaks like a nigger, he may need some help. Keep an eye on it, it, as with all therapy, really depends on the doctor so try to sit in on as many sessions as possible and if they try to brainwash or are useless fucks take your kid out of there.

Don't do it. I had the same thing when I was a kid, it sucked, but after all of it I was able to hear just fine and went onto be successful in music. He has probably been through enough already, if something comes up where his speech seems off than you can take it from there. That's why advice but the fuck do I know I not ear specialist.

>Well if the kid speaks like a nigger
he talks like kids talk - they always speak like dummies anyway

Do you want him to sound like a retard or not?

Teach your kid yourself. All the material is readily available online and unlike a therapist you can actually enforce proper speech patterns.

he probably cant decide on whether he should be speaking german or arabic

> fluid in ears due to clogged eustachian tube
does equalizing pressure in the ears work? like what you'd do on a plane?

>Teach your kid yourself.
I always correct him - he takes the correction and does it right.
I just do it over and over again - like a """doctor"" would I guess.

>Do you want him to sound like a retard or not?
all kids sound like retards sometimes

thanks new zealand

You're talking bout a baloon that is blown up with the nose I guess?

OP produces retarded child ....
Wants to blame doctors for his spawns subhuman speech ...
Comes to pol/ for advise

>all kids sound like retards sometimes

You keep saying this over and over and I worry that you're trying ton normalize his disability. You should want him to get help and be normal, especially while still young so that he can be normal as he gets older.

>Comes to pol/ for advise
the only place on the internet i trust

he probably needed tubes in his ears to filter the fluid out over several months

I had this when I was a kid. I remember tearing one out in 5th grade classroom. Felt really good.

>all kids sound like retards sometimes
Not all adults do though. My parents would mock the shit out of me whenever I mispronounced a word. Whenever I meet someone who mispronounces everything I think they had bad parents.

Some therapists are legit others are quacks. Do your research and make a decision. I can't do it for you.

I had it to too, it is a common thing, OP's kid will be fine.

that's what they gonna do when they have him on the table the next time if the meds dont work

The fluid most probably came back cause of the otitis he had.

>I worry that you're trying ton normalize his disability.
I'd never do that but I totally distrust those therapist.
10 children in his kindergarden who speak really good have already been sent to those """therapist"""
I am just worried that it's a scam to get shekels and to fuck up the kids.

>You should want him to get help and be normal, especially while still young
> especially while still young

Pedo detected

>My parents would mock the shit out of me whenever I mispronounced a word.

I always tell the kid people will laugh at him and think he is unable to talk correctly if he doesn't pronounce it right or when he's just to lazy and sloppy to do it correctly

give him a chemical lobotomy double adult dose anti psychotics. it's all the rage.

I had some trouble speaking growing up. I could pronounce TH sounds like in words like tooth, thought, through, think, thick, etc.

My school provided a teacher who assisted kids with speech, never had to go to an actual therapist. It helped pretty quick and I made some friends in that class

I'd try it if the school doesn't provide this service but monitor the therapist to make sure she isn't a (((therapist))). Look for progress, if your kid isn't making progress demand a refund and take him somewhere else

>Pedo detected
Maybe he's a kids therapist as well - with a mobile doctor's office in an old van

This, speech defects can be solved quickly when you are still a kid. I had some major issues with pronunciations and i got most of that shit fixed in 2months.

A lot of Americans pronounce the word "rural" to sound like "rule". For about a month I was doing that and any time I used the word around either of my parents I would hear "RUUULE" followed by laughter. They exaggerated my mispronunciation and then made fun of me for it. I will say though I am more resilient than a lot of people so you might not want to replicate this.

My brother has autism and absolutely needed speech therapy. He was not able to talk until 4, and even then his speech was full of errors that needed fixing.

So I don't think it's necessarily a scam, it just depends on your situation.

its a stupid word anyway

speech therapy was offered at my school in place of p.e.
older bro had to take it and it worked for him, we didn't pay any out of pocket is was a lesson taught in school

don't be ashamed if your kid is having a hard time with some syllables, my older bro did and my mom got real worried, but he grew out of it with the therapy

"there's something wrong with you" nah kids don't give a fuck about anything unless you the parent make a big deal out of it. Be cool and explain that he/ she has to learn from a teacher and they'll just see it as a little extra school

not a problem/ 10

Unless you live in or near a rural area. Words I generally don't use are empathy or sympathy because it starts a debate about the meaning of the words. It's just easier not to use those words than to get into a dictionary pointing contest with an illiterate.

I've had 2 tympanoplasties on each ear before I reached the age of 8. I have absolutely no enunciation issues. This is bullshit. Now, if your child cannot stop speaking baby talk you need to cut that shit out at the house. Nip it in the bud. But beyond that, its a fucking money grab.

It all starts at home. You can help your child pickup verbal queues by looking at peoples lips when they speak to your child. These are basic things that they will teach, you can pretty much find out all they are going to do with search engines and strong Questions on parenting forums.

Unless your child is slobbering on his/her-self and literally has trouble pronouncing everything or you just wanna be a shit parent (which I do not believe since you are asking the real autists here on Sup Forums this question).

For most children speach problems kids just overcome them. For some they nees therapy and if they dont get it they will be in trouble. Therapy wont make anything worse, just better or at leats fester. We cant predict which kid will have problems without therapy (not talking about hc stuff like autism here so...) so we send all of them to speach therapy.

Psychologyst with low english skills here.

As a kid I had a terrible speech impediment, I almost couldn't be understood until I was 7. Eventually I grew out of it, plus I got old enough to know how to properly overcompensate

>He was not able to talk until 4

The kid talkes since it's 2 and it talk A LOT.
Kid wakes up and talks till it's asleep - not autims detected yet (he's defindetely less autistic as I am)

>A lot of Americans pronounce the word "rural" to sound like "rule"
How that even possible?

As a kid I alwys dais "rotel" instead of "hotel" it took until I was about 12 years old to get that outta ma head.

>don't be ashamed if your kid is having a hard time with some syllables
Well the kid is in an bi-lingual kindergarden as well - that's why the kid sometimes mixes up syntax and conjugation.
Then there's me with a broad accent that exchanges some vocals or has different pronunciation of consonants

Stop vaccinating your kids numbnuts.

Google "vaccineresistancemovement.org/?p=15234"

nice meme alex

Your genes are shit fagg.

>For most children speach problems kids just overcome them
That's what I always say - wifey of course is terribly frightened and worried and blames herself

>Psychologyst with low english skills here.
It's good enough don't worry m8

>, I almost couldn't be understood until I was 7.
and now you speak nromal as any other fucker don't you? thats what i alswas say

>and now you speak nromal as any other fucker don't you? thats what i alswas say
More so actually, most people think I'm very posh when they first meet me. The only people who have trouble understanding me are non native speakers, as my accent is thick

just give them microdoses of psylocibin. It literally rewires the language centers of the brain and promotes neurogenesis.

It's not a scam, my mother is a child speech therapist. Some of the kids she sees are ferals who are actually incapable of saying a single word properly. If your child is cooperative and has a functioning brain, the therapist can probably fix his issues in a half-dozen sessions by teaching him the correct mouth and tongue movements for pronunciation.

Speech therapy was worth it in my case, caught it in grade school and corrected it as part of my US school curriculum.

Otherwishhe, I'd have shhpoken like thissh for the reshht of my life, and I'd have to put on the mashhk for anyone to care who I washh.

I went to a speech therapist (couldn't do the "rrr" thing) at the same age of my alphabetization. The doctor helped me a lot, not only on my specific impediment, but also to gain confidence and a much better articulation than all the other kids. The result was that I was always the first in class in fundamental and middle school, went to a top uni in my country and graduated in physics. Until today, people compliment me on my articulation, and I think that the two years in the therapist had a big contribution on that.

>speech therapist
Bullshit, give them proper redpilled 1st class training

Why wouldn’t you attempt to get something fixed now that kids are going to unrelentingly take the piss out of them for at school?

Why do you hate your child?

turner diaries as audiobook when going to bed?

If he's fucking retarded take him in to get fixed. If he's not fucking retarded and just needs some time hearing real life without fluid in his ears then keep him out. Don't be a faggot begging us for reassurance in your decision. We can't hear him talk so we can't tell if he sounds retarded or is just talking like a kid.

>Is child speech therapy bullshit?
no
It help, I know few kids that went there, it really helps. And friends whose kids had this problem feels better about their kids.
after two or three sessions you can notice huge improvement.
Don't be "vaccine is bad, everything doctor do is bad" guy.
Help your kid. He fucking needs you.

definitely a trick von der Krankenkasse to get your money.
you dont belive how fast and easily they learn to speak from another children.

this is 100% a jewish fraud perpetuated to promote kike feminism to emasculate your child

little timmy needs tough love and, if what you say about his mumbling is true, an double dose of it

every time he stutters slap him upside the head a bit. his classmates will do much worse later if the problem isnt solved by then.

general lee said that war needed to be cruel because it is infinitely more cruel to let it drag on. the same could be said for parenting. be cruel because if you aren't, the rest of your childs life will be far more cruel.

tl/dr: slap the kid

Childood speech therapy is a not a scam. My wife is an elementary school speech therapist who works with kindergarten through 2nd grade. I also have a 5 and 1 year old. AMA Op

does it cost significant money? i got speech therapy as a kid free through the public school. i had a lisp and now i don't. barely remember it. only lasted a couple months. i'm really good at public speaking now.

Dont do the speech therapy...but of course make sure the fluid is gone. Encourage him to take up math, if you'll yourself show interest in tech stuff he'll pick it up too. I imagine other students give him a hard time...but that's ok. This might actually push him towards isolation or anger. You need to take care of that. Make sure his mind is occupied with constrictive things like math/science. You kid's handicap might b a blessing in disguise...but this is up to you

Called reading. Expose him to more literature eventually he'll get it dont be retartaf.

>his classmates will do much worse later if the problem isnt solved by then.

This

All these mental evaluasionists #Mental therapists are a scam

You're already doing everything a doctor would do. Speech Therapy is an absolute scam. Save your fucking money, raise your son yourself like a real father.

If you are unable to help teach your own son how to speak properly, then you aren't fit to raise him.

I did speech therapy as a kid. It helped me.

Had a speech therapist from 7-9 and cried and threw tantrums to get out of going (so I could watch cartoons on Saturdays)

And now I pronounce words wrong and don’t do my Th or R sounds really correctly but that’s accent I guess.

No. Not bullshit.
Had tubes in my ears as a child.
Had a bad speech impediment.
Speech therapy at age 6.
I'm an adult now, people always tell me my voice sounds like I am in radio.

It's not a scam. You sound like an American science sceptic. No room for you

Don't be a pleb. Pay for your son to learn how to speak like a patrician. Your choice now whether he will be upwardly or downwardly socially mobile.
