not sure how many Scientologists are left in Hollywood (Travolta left after his son died and I think Tom Cruise moved away from it when they tried to isolate him from his daughter) but at this point they are so weakened it wouldn't matter and they'd have no pull. It's a simple, smart move.

Absolutely could. The only reason CoS has tax-exempt status is because of an IRS administrative determination. I don't believe there's a judicial finding that they're entitled to federal tax exempt status.
At the very least, the president has the power to order the IRS to "reevaluate" an organization's tax-exempt status or order the DOJ to investigate an organization for violating tax law. Basically apply administrative and investigational pressure to an organization in the hopes of causing it to buckle, thereby creating an opportunity for a better bargaining position.

Nah conservabro. Speaking as a liberal, the destruction of Scientology is long overdue and would be the one action I could back Trump on so far.
None of the liberals I know, secular or Christian, have any love for Scientology, nor think it a religion in any sense covered by First Amendment protections.
